Hmmm, I am looking for Spectre with Ivy bridge and more ram and HDD option. Ivy Bridge isn't officially released yet? So after the release we should see the market flooded with Ivy bridge ultrabooks.
-
ivy bridge nda has been lifted, we waiting on suppliers
-
Is that so hard to believe that it is not speculation?
Translation:
8.5hrs battery
HP CoolSense
7seconds weakup
Beats Audio
Other hardware specification has been translated before.
Btw it just looks like the new Dv6/dv7 isn't it? -

aww it says i gotta spread rep b4 giving it to u again. ill make sure to give it later

repped! -
These look pretty nice, and also thinner due to not having that useless gorilla glass like the Spectre 14.
I hope they are not only 1366x768 though -
Not gonna lie, those new ENVY notebooks look really nice. I'm looking forward to seeing the full specs on those.
-
Just a quick update: the initial BIOS release for these notebooks is now available.

why did they go for such a low-res screen...I hope a 14inch is released with true HD and option for HDD.

If its a good screen, like radience or similar, 1366x768 is fine for the Envy 4 a 14" notebook.
But I am surprized about 1366x768 for the Envy 6 a 15.6" notebook.
Depending on the sceen quality, I think I would replace my pre sandy bridge Envy 14 with the Envy 4. -

AUS and NZ often miss out on the screen upgrades available elsewhere, who knows what final spec options will be.
I can't buy a FHD envy 15 in NZ. -
I'll probably end up buying the Envy 6 laptop sorry 'sleekbook' but I wont touch it until it's got Ivy Bridge. I mean what's the point of releasing a high end laptop now without Ivy Bridge?

So how long do you reckon I will have to wait till the SandyB inventory runs down - August? I don't think I can wait till end of the year.....
-
> I don't think I can wait till end of the year.....
might as well skip IB and wait for haswell at that point... The endless wait the next best thing. -
Sorry for being a Negative Nancy, but I and some others have repeatedly pointed out that any hope of an IB upgrade right away was nothing more than hope. Last year, the Envy 14 took almost 6 months to get SB after it was released.
There's a million reasons for this. They could be trying to whittle down inventory... they could still be testing the implementation... they could be focusing all their IB inventory on the real moneymakers like the dv6 and dv7 (I bet the Envy makes HP a fraction the money they do based on volume)... they could be waiting to get dual cores to launch everything at the same time... there's a million reasons.
I'm not saying a refreshed IB Envy won't come out next week, but there's nothing concrete to believe there will be, either. It sucks not knowing, but if you need a laptop now, buy it. If you need one by next month, buy it now and return it if IB comes out. If you can wait cool, but based on some precedent, it could be fall before IB Envy comes out. Just my $.02. -

I think we will see more refresh around June, isn't that when IB quad core is suppose to be released? And Computex is that month as well, so I think we will see a 15inch 17 and 14 refresh then again this is my opinion, I could be very well wrong but I hope i am not. I could use a new laptop.

Australia HP site updated with Envy 4 and discrete graphics model for Envy 6... AMD Radeon HD 7670M (2 GB DDR3 dedicated)
HP Envy Home Notebook PCs - comparison results Products for Home and Home Office - HP
With discrete graphics it is an interesting comparision against the spectre. If only there was a 900p or better screen!
Would love to know the roadmap from here, which gets IB first? Which of the envy's does Hp see having a shorter lifespan?
Edit: specs aren't news? just live on HP site. -
Here's the press release for these models. One of the models actually has AMD Trinity as the processor.
-
nicee good news now lets have high res display and good gfx and im set
-
All 5 machines, from the 13.3 Spectre XT to the 15.6 Envy Ultrabook are only 1366x768 and the warranty on at least the Spectre XT has been reduced to 1 year. =(

No news on the US HP site, and the Chinese HP site has nothing but the Envy 4's we saw earlier (note that the announcement was made from Shanghai). May 9th might be a rather optimistic date...
All I see in the press release is a handful of unimpressive ultra- and semi-ultrabooks that offer low-res displays and muddy the previously impressive Envy name. If the Envy 15 refresh drops with IB and an optional 7850m upgrade as the other thread suggests, I might be sticking with the brand through my next upgrade this summer (if indeed I upgrade this summer), but seeing the sheer number of uninspired Envy-branded notebooks being dropped here makes me much more willing to look elsewhere for my next laptop. -
there are 3 lines now:
1) regular
-envy 15 and 17 (3D)
2) lower priced ultrabooks
-envy 4 and 6
3)higher priced ultrabooks
-envy spectrext and 14 spectre (again the spectre xt doesnt seem to belong in this catagory...) -
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
My baseline standard for a worthy Envy notebook is that it should offer a high quality, ideally an industry-leading screen, at least as an option. Obviously, there are other things such as design, build quality, and performance targets that would lead me to consider an Envy notebook unworthy of the name, but the screen is key. By that standard, none of these notebooks seem to fit the bill - it's possible that the 1366x768 on the Envy Spectre XT will be stellar, but even then the number of higher resolution screens on 13" notebooks seems to be growing, so the best a 1366x768 screen on the Spectre XT could hope to be is above average, and I'm not even counting on that.
Nope, HP's announcing three new Envy notebooks (or five if you count the probably-negligible difference between the sleekbooks and ultrabooks), and none of them has better than a 1366x768 screen. That's a fail in my book. If I had any say, the Envy 4 and Envy 6 lines would go under an entirely new product line, or possibly expand the Folio name to include all ultra- and demi-ultrabooks in their lineup. -

theres new updates coming as we speak! they look amazing although i liked the gorilla on the spectre
-
prolly should be doing homework lolol. but i am also dissapointed that they got rid of the gorilla glass.. it set hp apart from the crowd. now its assimilated back with the spectrext
-
im at school writing a paper and lets just say nothings being written..
the gorilla glass felt nice and looked nice even tho it added weight.. the weight to be felt like it was more sturdy -.- i liked it.. why can't they have a customization option where we get to choose every little detail for our laptop.. like a gorilla glass, 15 inch, 7750 GT, ivy bridge, etc -.- -
-
i liked the two headphone jacks too .. and every other laptop besides the 15 and 17 doesnt have the two jacks.. not that big of a deal i guess haha
