According to this, looks like we won't be able to order the Ivy Bridge Models yet on Monday:

Not being able to purchase it with a IB would be quite unfortunate. However, I personally am exchanging mine for the new 28nm 650M.

HP Pavilion g6-2000 Notebook PC series
has "Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000 " yet with a i3/5/7-2000s processor and as far as I know only Ivy Bridge will have HD 4000 -
however the units in the videos on Notebook Italia were equipped with Intel Ivy Bridge CPUs (Core i7 3720QM) and Nvidia GT 630M GPUs. Windows index scores were 7.5 for CPU, 7.1 for GPU, 7.8 for memories -
-
Yes, I also agree it doesn't make any sense that they would put SB processors in the new series when IB processors are about to ship. -

HP Pavilion dv6-7000 Entertainment Notebook PC series
Idk if these are for sale yet so what I believe is happening is that HP is going to start selling these lower end models out. While at the same time the NDA for ivy bridge will be lifted so they will be able to show the specs of those models. And if i remember correctly, some posted in this form that a HP rep told them that the ivy bridge models will be available on April 29. Which makes sense, since all the other ivy laptops come out that same day. Also what could be going on is that along with the NDA for ivy bridge, is the restriction on selling Kepler GPUs. So that could be why these models come with sandy bridge because they'll have the gt 650m.
Ether way i highly doubt that the ivy bridge models will come in June. Im guessing April 29th or early may. I just wish they would confirm this already. -
-
This always happens unless there's a perfect synchronized release date with CPU and GPU. To be honest I think Kepler is the bigger, more significant release. Ivy Bridge is a slight bump CPU performance-wise with a decent bump to IGP. They won't let you do anything until Intel lifts the NDA, at which time the machines will be available.
-
I guess we'll just have to wait and see what pans out over then next 2 days.
-
Sigh... looks like hp extended their spring sale to the 10 of April (originality planed to end on the 7th for new models i assumed). There's no way they'd start selling them during a sale, so i guess it will be another 2 days.

Origin PC EON15-S and EON17-S gaming laptops available now, priced from $1,525 -- Engadget
HP is just torturing us now. -
Whoops, looks like I got it wrong, those Origin PCs still have Sandy Bridge.

Most of the tech news websites I have read are reporting April 29th for the release of Ivy Bridge.
HOPEFULLY this will be the case, and not June. -
Really looking forward to these, especially the dv4 and dv6. They are looking to be really slick, and fast laptops.
It's a shame that HP doesn't allow customizable orders online in Canada, as it's basically impossible to find, for example, a full-HD screen on an HP laptop with lower specs, instead we're forced to buy the pre-built models which also have all the other upgrades added. I'd love to get my hands on this new dv6 with a 1920x1080 screen with a 650M, base everything else. Most likely, I'd just settle for the dv4 with a 630M. -
-
I heard IB i7 on April 29th, IB i5 on June 3rd.
-
please feel free to pm me when this laptop with 1080p screen and 650m is available in Canada. Don't care about IB i'd buy it with SB and those specs right now.

The worst part is that these HP promotions actually suck. The same spec computer if bought from newegg costs much less than buying in the HP's so called lowest price ever.
I guess I will have to keep waiting for the Kepler GPU's or a real discount on current 7690M products. -
Unfortunately, this website says that only the desktop quadcore versions come out in April, While all mobile stuff and desktop dual cores come out the June 3rd. Sorry guys looks like no ivy bridge till June... And i guess this will be the same with Kepler. -
When looking at NVIDIAs own website at the "performance" section, it looks like the GTX 650m will be slightly more powerful than the current GTX 560m, and the GTX 660m is quite a bit ahead.
However the difference between the 670 and 570 looks negligible (Due to still using fermi and 40nm process) The GTX 650 is a HUGE step up from the old 555m.
Check out the 2 graphs below:
It looks like these GPUs are gonna rock in the next gen HPs -

After speaking with a customer service rep, it has been confirmed:
The DV6-7000's will be launching today 4/9/2012.

XXXXXXXX, the dv6-7017tx is an Entertainment Notebook and as I was checking my resources here. We don't have that specific product available on the website. However, I am more than willing to look for a similar configuration of dv6-7017tx in my end.
11:26:07 AM CustomerXXXXXXXX
Great

May I place you on hold for two minutes while I check my resources?

it seems as though the dv6-7000 series was estimated to launch in US today ( based on HP Italy)

No problem, thank ou

Yes, that is correct, the dv6-7000 series will be lunch today. However, let me check if it is available on the website.
AgentXXXXXXXX.
XXXXXXXX, to set your expectation, the dv6-7017tx is not yet available and so as the dv6-7000 which has the same comfiguration with dv6-7017tx. However, the update of our Website is on going and that model will be made available sooner.
11:36:20 AM AgentXXXXXXXX.
Right now, I know that you really want to exchange your HP Pavilion dv6t Quad Edition with dv6-7017tx or dv6-7000. However, the best thing that we can do is to wait until dv6-7017tx or dv6-7000 will be available on the website for exchange. -

But why would it be released today if the Spring sale doesn't end until tomorrow?
I've learned to be very pessimistic about laptop releases. -
and a new coupon for 30% off the dv7tqe/dv6tqe just came out valid till 04/30.I don't think HP would be giving 30% off ivy bridge.
-
Maybe they're being really nice...
-
I would be surprised if they aren't offering the 30% off for the ivy bridge.
They have been offering 30% off on new dv6/dv7 releases for several years in a row. -
-
Will def get my mom to spring for one of these Ivy Bridge Pavilion laptops....
Now to debate between the dm4 vs the dv6t....sigh -
It's not clear how HP will actually market the new dv6 and dv7, they rarely use the series number (-7XXX) for online marketing, but I doubt the coupon will work on any new Quad model. -
The new DV4 has worse graphics when compared to the previous generation...

There are a myriad of rumours about the upcoming AMD A10 and other Trinity Fusion APU processors, some good, other not so good. The good ones emphasise the very fast HD7000-series integrated GPU as well as the Piledriver-generation cores, a pair of dual core modules, integrated with support for AVX and AES instruction extensions. The bad ones state concerns about TDP vs Ivy Bridge, since Trinity is still on a 32 nm process, as well as possibly slower overall CPU performance than Trinity's currently shipping predecessor, the A8 Llano - which of course could be an embarassment for AMD if it happens.
Most importantly, there will nearly certainly be a low-power ultrathin (i.e. UltraBook in Intel speak) 17W TDP grade Trinity APU with two dual-core modules and proper GPU. Now, depending on the actual CPU and GPU clock speeds delivered in this case, there would be a very interesting outcome here: an AMD based ultrathin could have somewhat higher performance, both CPU and GPU, than an Ivy Bridge dual core 4 thread ultrathin at the same time.
AMD Trinity - Quad core Ultrathin notebook processing within 17W limit? by VR-Zone.com
Quite great news for the college crowd I believe... Now will AMD Trinity appear in the DV series... or even some HP ultrathin... -
damn. gt640 is the sweet spot, if they can keep the price the same as the 540 -
the million dollar question is when and how much?
-
I'm disappointed that the HP rep told me they were launching the new line on the 9th, as it apparently didn't happen.
I just spoke with a rep at Xotic PC. He explained to me that the Sager's with the 650M and SB i7's are ready to be purchased. However, the MSI's, with 650m and IB i7, are set for 4/29 ETA.
He went on to mention that the MSI cpu can not be stated at this time, as it is part of an "Intel embargo". So no further detials on IB's until 4/29.
Damn HP. I thank them though, they extended my return policy so i can return or replace my dv6 with the new line. -
This might sound like a silly question but since I am kinda new to this.. does the aprox. 1000 point difference between the 650m and the 660m matter in real performance?
-
Based on the chart the 650m ddr5 is really the sweet spot for non hardcore gamers. Not only is it the biggest increase in performance from the lower model in the entire line (looks about 30% better than 640), but its also the most powerful card you can get in a 'normal' non gaming laptop. Upgrading to the 660 to get 10% more performance will also upgrade you to a much thicker, heavier, uglier, more expensive laptop with worse audio performance and likely less battery life.
