    Hello, anybody, somebody

Nothing seems to work for me, I think I tried everything except reformatting my laptop.( don't want to go there)

I tried "Acer Extensa 5210 Chicony Webcam Driver 5.7" that DylanBennett recommended, but I did not get past step 5.

My ASUS has a built in USB 2.0 1.3M UVC WebCam.It randomly stopped being recognized by my computer.

Anything that uses the webcam acts as if I do not have a webcam installed.
    (lifeframe,skype,messenger,...)

I checked the device manager its not even listed there( which is strange)

I used the ASUS CD, driver & utility but neither that worked (wonder if didn't do it properly)

    help much appreciated.

    Thank's DylanBennett.

After 2 years without Webcam, it's finally working. Webcam's holidays just finished today.

The solution is working in my TOSHIBA Qosmio G40.

    Great!!

    Neither for me...

I at first removed "unknown device" from the device manager, then installed the driver from acer and restarted immediately my computer.
"unknown device" again! with no entry in "imaging device"...

I have dv-9010....there wasnt any imaging device in device manager. I had to download the chipset driver and graphics driver from HP before it would let me load the camera driver. No where have I read you have to do this. Anyway it works now with cyberlink you cam software.

    Thank You mr Dylan

I faced same problem in HP Envy 6=1019tx ultrabook. Tried every solution available on internet but nothing worked. Then i used your prescribed technique and now the webcam is working fine. Thank You brother.

Laptop came with windows 8.1 Webcam worked fine. Since i am not a fan of windows 8 so i removed it and installed windows 7 64bit. Faced problem with webcam and solved using this technique. Any one facing this problem with HP Envy 6-1019tx, use this medicine :)
