Is there any way to get sound work after power-save or hybernate mode?
-
Nothing to do with "OK" but-
Presonus Inspire Audio Interface only works on my xp sp3 dv7 if you let laptop fully boot (without Inspire plugged into firewire port), then plug in firewire. At least it works! I was trying all sorts of variations that eventually summed to this. If firewire cable is pulled out it won't hot swap, one has to reboot again. -
I came back just to explain the issue but you fixed it better than I did. I found out the long boot & CD rom problems was caused by a bios update. I rolled back the drivers to fix the problem also.
This issue first started when I updated to the .23 bios and I had to roll back to .06 to make it work -
So, manually changing the SATA driver was the best solution for me. I will certainly not roll back the bios anymore. But others might go for that, if they want to.
Thanks. -
I would greatly appreciate the steps you used to install WinXP on the HP dv7t... Many thanks

I guess in 16 pages of topic ... we talked about sports and women
?
Read the first page. It's all there. -
Audio - I know this has been discussed a ton already but I couldn't find this particular problem...
I finally read in here that the lastest drivers from Windows Update and the one on the HP site (sp41398.exe) work for sound, so I ran the update.
So now the sound still works fine (was fine before, just using work arounds mentioned earlier) but now I no longer have the IDT icon in my Control Panel. Instead I have this 'IDS_CPL_NAME' and 'IDS_CPL_INFOSTRING' listed there, that causes an error when you click on it.
I'm wonder if anyone else who has done the driver update via HP site or windows update has this or do you still have the IDT controller (only had 1 option before, for power management) -
ok answered my own question (sort of)
I think that was left over from the previous IDT control panel item (idtsg.cpl), I deleted that, and manually copied the idtcpl.cpl from the vista directory in sp41398.exe and that got rid of the wierd item (IDS_CPL_NAME) and added a mostly useless IDT control panel item. -
So the sound works w/o the devcon restart ?
-
-
great work guys,
today I spent like 3 hours chatting with HP support regarding my DV7-1150ev mainly about the IDT audio in which the IDT company itselft does not provide any drivers b/c they have an agreement with notebook manufacturers so they provide the drivers for the laptops they make themselves.
Funny eh? Microsoft doesn't want people to use XP simply put. Anyway this is a very long conversation as I can think a number of reasons for that but let's not get out of topic.
The other issue I had was 8 unknown devices though I was sure I installed pretty much everything after 16 non-stop hours (except lunch and toilet that is)
Thanks to you I found it was the quicklaunch buttons. I only wish I found this thread earlier, I would have finished in like, 2 hrs.
Needless to say the HP technician was hitting the quick dialog keys they use for standard messages, he/she was saying how bad it is to install anything but vista on my laptop. Still waiting for her email on drivers for xp. -
finaly you find the solution for the dv7-1150ev sound , modem and others???
i read teh posts here, thank you vor advice from other trhead to look here...
if you can sugest me some things just drop some lines here Worstat -

vatzgr,
The unknown devices showing up must be the quicklaunch buttons, somewhere in this thread a friend posted some french drivers fixing this issue. Download that rar archive, uncompress it in a folder, and try updating drivers for each unknown device through that folder.
Drivers posted here will work for hdmi audio and agere modem audio, those are the 2 other devices not having drivers.
But for those to work you have to restart the microsoft UAA bus device with the devcon method.
Try this before anything else. If you don't like using a batch file for devcon restart, you can also run it through group policy at start up:
windows start key + R > type gpedit.msc > hit ok > Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Logon >
Run these programs at user logon > open it & enable > show & add
%full path to devcon.exe% restart "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_293E" -
Hi,
I just bought a new DV7T 2000 and would like to replace the hard drive that came with the computer with a new one. I am researching about putting XP on it and looking for the necessary drivers prior to the installation. I need help locating the graphic card driver, it's the brand new ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530. I was looking all over the web and there was no info about it. The ATI site doesn't provide drivers anymore.
Thanks -
Yeah, I am sure you really searched the web and ATI do not provide the driver anymore. Strangely, I found it as my first link in Google....
http://ati.amd.com/online/mobilecatalyst/ -
How can you tell that the Catalyst support the HD 4530?
It is a new card, and there is no specific announcement that that the catalyst does support this card on Windows XP. -
if you could me please help how to do this maybe i can use the devcon
just one question again..
where can i found the software for audio? -
so the situation i have is this one
i uninstall everything from device manager like idt UAA (sp41398) like a frined here proton post, i unistal also the kb835221 where is the UAA drivers)
after of this i reinstal sp41398 and miracle, find agere modem on hda audio system ?? i thing find idt audio drivers (in this point i have sound pop up, and the touch button on dv7-1150ev eork to i mean enable-disable sound) i reinstal the software for the idt find on folder sp41398) in this point everythinmg goes fine and on devoce manager i have only 4 unknown devices)
the system wants reboot................after reboot.... sound, modem, and the device hda nvidia audio goes................ no sound, no modem....
why happent this?
also... when the laptop reboot it takes several time to give the windows user logon screen......
is anyone who can help on this? -
.also...when i unistall the UAA drivers ............... hda audio, hda nvidia audio and agere modem installed autamticly plus the uaa drivers installed again.
i sopose... the UAA can't handle this drivers after installing...............
after of all this i try toi install the idt software, and goes fine... but on restarting i loose it
on restart loose the information on drivers
i post a pictures about
(p.s. after of many time searching i found several drivers from hp) so if anyone have problem let me know to post some of them about) -

vatzgr, read the darn topic, it's all explained, and nobody is going to re-write everything for you and every other newcommer that is too lazy to read a few pages of very usefull info.
devcon trick, written serveral times, the last time just for you, but you managed to ignore it, and button drivers will solve every problem you still have. Yet I am sure you will keep wondering around this topic for a few more days looking for answers that are already here.
Regarding the new DV7-2xxx series, with ATI graphics, I think the nVIDIA HDMI driver is no longer required, Catalyst will most likely take care of everything, but I have no mean to test it because I have a DV7-1xxx. -
ok i tried to dual boot my preinstalled windows vista x64 dv7-1020us with windows xp x64 before reading that i shoudlnt do so
i partitioned an area for xp pro 64bit edition and slipstreamed the intel matrix storage managerx64 and made a bootable cd.. i started my pc and booted from cd and the windows xp 64bit edition began to load the files, the installation continued and asked where i wanted to install xp and i chose the partition i made and chose yes to continue..
after copying the files from the cd the computer restarted. when it restarted there was an error "unable to load Operating system"... i powered off the pc and restarted again and booted from cd once more.. i then chose the area i made once again for the xp partition and chose to reformat to ntfs and copy files.. it reformated the partition and began to copy the files..
the computer proceeded to restart again but now it just hangs and sticks on the HP invent welcome screen..
if i try to get into the bios or boot menu or even recovery by presssing f9 f10 f11 etc nothing happens.. it just stays on that welcome screen.. i dont know what went wrong ..can someone help plz or has any ideas on what happened
To Gdawon:
i saw u had probably the same problem i was thinkin about takin out he hard drive and deleting the xp partition i made on a next pc.
can u explain this step? ... do i have to take this hard drive out and set it up as a slave drive on another pc or what im totaly lost.. the other pc i have is probably a windows xp home 32bit
when u did this takin out the hd and reformating the xp partition u were able to get into the bios after or get pass the hp logo screen? -
Hi guys, i new in the forum, i have readed the all 30 pages of this treath... ovbiusly not in details, but following the issues...
Im from argentina and
i have a Compaq presario CQ40-305LA...
has a T4200 intel, and comes with vista... i have deleted the vista and restore partitions, then i have used an xp cd in spanish created by me... downloaded from microsoft.com, sp3 (not slipstreamed), i only has added: sata drivers (intel, nvidia) and unnatended instalation (i use this cd in my work, that the reason)...
well. everythings works ok, the launch buttons, the video, the chipset, usb's, etc... i only have problems with 2 things:
- the IDT high definition audio
- the unknown devices (i read on internet about a direct launch buttons driver, but this drivers (i think) installs for ALL unknow device, then i i dont install the lan driver for example, the lan will goes to the list of "direct launch buttons")
does not matter... i mean... i have the same problem that you have... i have used the workaround of "devcon" but its a problem for the user of the notebook, if xp goes to sleepmode and then comes back, the audio dont work. until executes again the devcon command...
it must exist some solution to this problem....
if you know something let me know... i will do the same to you.
thanks in advance -
i have founded something
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?board.id=Sound&message.id=588&query.id=401254#M588
do you thing gonna work? -
Same problem here, no solution yet. For the no sound after sleep, I mean.
As for the unknown devices, try installing the button drivers, see if all of them work. LAN will not install a button driver no matter how hard you try, so it's OK -
ok Success!!! instranctions from Alexandrus and ProtonXXX full functional windows xp os 32 bit on HP Pavilion dv7-1150ev laptop.
Actually i had a virus propably from a downloading and stack many things in laptop. i can't find yet where is this program with the virus downloaded from internet but i sopose is from the web link where have the batch file for the sound..
i follow the instactions from Alexandrus and the file where they post and everything goes fine..
But still i don;t have the IDT on the tray i don;t remember to see it any solution here on this forum... excuse me.. maybe i'm wrong...
thanx again.......... so i look up forward to find any other problem about IDT ( i had on line chat with HP technician and maybe HP fix the issue of IODT sound for windows XP but don't know when............) -
ok well all those who are having problems with installing xp and the screen sticks and hangs on the HP logo screen. And you are not able to boot from cd/dvd or hard drive or recovery or get into the boot menu.
in order to fix this do what Gdawon said: physically remove the hard drive from your pc , place it into another pc and reformat the xp and vista partitions then put it back into the dv7 laptop and u would be able to get into the boot menu and start menu options so u can boot from the recovery partition -
Has anyone been able to fix the popping sound? I have tried everything and then some from this 38 page thread to no avail. Unfortunately it isn't even my computer. I was doing the XP install for a coworker and can't just give it back to him like this.
Thanks,
John -
No sound popping with the older drivers, like I said. I even posted a link somewhere here.
The new IDT drivers from WU have the popping issue and a few more other issues. But maybe disabling Power Management from IDT CPL will do the trick, although for me it did not resolve a few issues, but only the new driver has them, the older one is just fine. -
Alexandrus i successfully installed XP proffesional on my HP dv5-1002nr AMD with ATI, I am currently trying to install XP on my work laptop dv5-1000us Dualcore with intel x4500. The disk i used on the AMD is hanging have any suggestions.
-
First thing that comes to mind is to slipstream the correct SATA drivers in the XP kit, obviously the AMD drivers will not work on Intel.
PS. OMG how much Vista sucks, had to install it on my machine for some reason and it's HELL. Vista X64 is HELL. Realtek drivers for LAN will not install at all, the network adapter is not even shown at all, geez. -
Alexandrus, i managed to partition my 250gb hd, as such 50(vista) 40(for XP) 120 (data) 20(ubuntu) and HP's recovery section. I slip streamed and installed XP but on restart it crashes, I've tried restarting in safe mode and everthing. i used newsmart.net Vista recovery disk to restore vista's boot sector my grubs working fine now if only i could get xp to boot past mup.sys... any suggestions. Maybe i slipstreamed the wrong drivers..
-
If it installs, you slipstreamed the correct drivers. However, XP might not like the fact that you have a bunch of MBR entries for Vista and Ubuntu.
Here, maybe this will help, although I am pretty sure it's the MBR entries that cause this : http://www.aitechsolutions.net/mupdotsysXPhang.html
I suggest you try using the old fdisk(get a boot disk for Windows 98SE, they are available for download, you do not need the full kit, just the boot floppy and put it on a bootable USB flash or something) to create the primary active partition for XP, install XP and then install the others.
Or create the partitions with XP installer, install XP first and then the others. -
Has anyone had luck installing the drivers for the Mobility Radeon 4530? I tried the link Alexandrus mentioned to no avail and I tried to configure the inf files as described elsewhere also to no avail.
-
Id like to say thanks to
- ProtonXX, (The OP, installation guide)
- Alexandrus, more detailed installation guide
- jcjc, for button drivers
- Xcem, for finding out to physically remove the hard drive from your pc if windows hangs on booting.
- The guy (cant find his name anymore) who suggested to use an usb sound card if you cant make the audio to stay on reboot (why haven't i thought of it before)
- and everybody else contributing, sorry if i forgot somebody.
Great work guys, highly appreciated.
Im happy to announce that i found out why the "devcon" trick isnt working for everybody.
- first: your devcon.exe have to be in c:\windows\system32 folder
- second: you have to put an '*' at the and of your device identifier and you shouldn't put 'subsys' and the values after in it.
So your command in the batch file will look like this:
c:\windows\system32\devcon.exe restart "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_293E&SUBSYS_30F4103C&REV_03*"
Which you place here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
I have another thing to say on the brightness issue.
I dont know if you have remarked it but the brightness control worked perfectly
after the windows install and it stopped working after one the drivers install.
So it still to see which one is it.
I also noticed when slipstreaming the sata driver that it wasnt exactly the same:
we have ICH9-M and the one we slipstreamed was ICH9E-M or something.
I dont know if it has any importance? -
If you slipstream from the Intel Matrix Manager floppy, you slipstream the hole bunch of SATA controllers, not only one, there are no separate INFs for each one, there is only one INF with all the info.
-
DV7-1107TX acceptable with XP .. only a few issues unresolved
1) sound using devcon.exe restart
2) touch button for sound mute works but stays white always
3) no control panel item for IDT audio
No 'Yellow' question marks left!!! ... I spent a whole weekend on this .. only wish I found this thread earlier.
cheers to all
Rob -
Depends what IDT drivers you are using, I have a control panel for IDT, in fact, I have CPL for IDT on most drivers, some with more options, some with less, but for some reasons(popping sounds, hushing sounds while scrolling my mouse) I use the oldest drivers, the ones I mentioned and linked to earlier.
-
@rlorimer
What is your problem with devcon.exe?
Did you read my post just above yours? -
I just installed Windows XP SP3 on a dv7-2000 notebook.
It's somewhat easier to install it than it is on the dv7-1xxx because the IDT drivers work w/o the need for devcon and other tricks. On the other hand, the ATI drivers will be a headache, but I found a way around that headache
Also, no button drivers needed.
Problem is my dv7-1025nr won't install the modem drivers anymore, I tried installing Vista and no version would detect the NIC, unless in Safe Mode w/o Networking, LOL. So I went back to XP, everything worked fine except the modem, which will say no to any drivers, including those on WU. Not that I need the modem, but...
Another problem is with the new dv7-2000. ENE CIR will do about the same thing the modem does on dv7-1025nrJust annoying.
Plus, I have sound on subwoofer only, no speaker, not even on headphones, no matter what jack I plug in. Sub does turn off when I plug the headphones though.
PS. As a mini-review of the dv7-2000, not worth the upgrade. The screen is slightly bigger, but my old one was 1680x1050, this one is 1600x900, so less space. The LED backlit, while nice to have and uniform, damages the colors. All colors look washed out, especially black.
I have the ATI 4650 HD, should be better in games, but for everyday use it's horror, it will heat up so the fan kicks in every 10 seconds, stops for 10 seconds, then on again. Maybe a newer BIOS will solve this. -
I wonder if HP or Microsoft is reading this fourm laughing their butts off at everyone trying to fix up their "Bright and innovative" product. Don't ya kinda feel like a rat, in a see through box with mazes everywhere, traps at every end...... one possible escape, only to have a Trap door fall in on ya?
Vista = Made In China like Quality
HP = What happened to you guys, you used to be good.
Vista + HP = A Slipstreamed weenie for all of us, For sure.
Someone, anyone bring me back some Good old Fashioned AMERICAN QUALITY PRODCTS!!! -
Ok, I found something strange. I was told about a Program called "C Cleaner", they say it supposonly clears the Crap off your computer and so I decided to try it. Well after a successful install and one last "Are you sure you want to do that" Prompt from Vista,, I ran the Cleaner only to find it Erased my entire hard drive, but strange enough it only erased Vista Files. My personal files are intact, it just got rid of what it saw as CRAP!
-
Vista is indeed crap
And I use CCleaner as well, under Windows XP
PS. Here is the ATI Catalyst 9.4 for the dv7-2000 with Ati 4650.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/et0gmt -
I have this new dv7t-2000 and tried all your suggestions (from 1st page) for XP. So far, i did not succeed at all.
Is this lastest catalyst working with HD 4530 as well? I'll try video 1st, on XP Pro, SP3. I already have dual boot, managed to start XP ok.
Please advise, then I'll go one by one. If there is not too much trouble...
Thx
BTW, I think HP quality droped a LOT. I have an old dv8310us and let me tell you, keyboard is much more reliable and egonomic, compared to this latest dv7t, which cames with loose keyboard corner and I have to send it for service.. kinda disapointed, if I'll not be able to run XP on it, I'll just turn my back to HP, for good. -
No, the driver will only work on Radeon 4650 and only the Radeon 4650 found in HP dv7-2000. I have no idea what device ID the Radeon 4530 has so I cannot make the INF for it, but they are easy to mod.
What exactly did you try and did not succeed ? Because my dv7-2000 was much more straight forward to install XP on than my older dv7-1025nr. No special drivers, no tricks, the only problem was the ATI Catalyst, but I managed to solve that as well. Now all I need to do is find an IDT driver for XP that will let me have sound on speakers and headphones, not subwoofer only. -
For video, I have no clue how to get it working... catalyst, modify inf?
Network, I tried PCIE_Install_5720_0417 from Realtek, no good. I also check few other verisons, no luck.
As for wireless, I tried sp32156, then Device manager lists the Broadcom card, but with "?", saying "device can not start".
I would really appreciate if you can get me video and network going. I have Vista so much....
If it's more convenient for you, I can PM you with more details.. thanks a lot. -
Realtek drivers have been posted several times, you can find them on Realtek's site as well.
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...d=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
Webcam should work by default, as long as WIA service is enabled.
Wireless drivers have been posted also several times, even in the first post, but I guess you have not tried reading that. You can find them on Intel's site as well, provided you have Intel 5100 wireless and not others.
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/fil...XP+Professional&lang=eng&strOSs=44&submit=Go!
I noticed a trend going around, people first start to complain, claim they have tried everything and it does not work when in fact they haven't even been reading the entire topic. Come on...
A little search on the forum would do wonders as well. Here's a very complete collection of drivers, most of them apply to dv7t as well : http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=338874
PS. As for ATI drivers, sorry but can't help unless you can tell me a device ID. -
Alex,
Sorry Im not an expert as you are. I read lots of topis on this, spent a freaking whole weekend...
For ATI card, I found this device ID on another forum:
ATi Mobility Radeon HD 4530
Vendor ID 0x1002
Device ID 0x9553
For the Realtek: the archive has an setup.exe which failed to run (Program too big to fit in memory). Then I do a manual install and point to the INF file located into WinXP folder: "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware".
Again, Im not ax expert, I did install hardware drivers before, but this is getting so f(*&ing frustrating. -
You have the link above for the Realtek drivers. Maybe you are trying to install them on the wireless LAN card, otherwise I cannot see why they would not work.
As for the video card driver, a subsys ID would also be required.
Here is the ID for my card : PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9480&SUBSYS_3624103C
