So the fingerprint reader won't work? How about the TV Tuner?
-
-
mujjuman - I'm trying to duplicate what you did on my new dv2500t, and I'm hung up on the slipstream step. I am not a novice, but definitely on the shorter end of the learning curve on this particular operation. I don't know where to find the SATA drivers to slipstream onto my bootable XP disk (since you've exceeded your bandwidth
...
-
Hi Mcmitch2112. I downloaded all his drivers. If you PM me an email addy, I'll email you the SATA drivers if you want. I'm at work for the next 8 hours or so, but can do it when i get home. -
The DV2500T, DV6500T, and DV9500T are basically the same laptop. I've got step by step directions on my site for slipstreaming the drivers. Click the link in my sig.
This is great the OP is trying to make a guide for the DV9500T. The problem happens when there are knock off versions from other resellers that have slightly different hardware. I get e-mails all the time from people with slightly different versions, so no guide can cover everything. Mine is geared for the DV6500T but the principles will work for the DV9500T. -
All of the drivers included in my latest Driver Pack work flawlessly with the DV9500T. The only thing(s) you may have issues getting to work are the TV Tuner & Fingerprint Reader. I didn't opt to purchase either of these as I personally didn't need them so I'm not having any issues.
I have installed Windows XP SP2 on 3 seperate DV9500T systems with no issues whatsoever. The drivers HP doesn't provide we get directly from the manufacturer to ensure there are no performance/compatibility issues.
I will be updating a new pack of drivers this evening that I just got done updating as of August 22nd. Monitor this post for the link once they are uploaded. -
Great! I will check this post later. Thanks much; it's great that you're doing this for the community. -
hello folks,
After giving HP support a try, I have come here!
I got a dv2500t and have clean installed Vista Ultimate since it arrived. I got most of the things working but haven't got my "vertical scrolling" working on the touchpad and quick launch buttons.
If someone has these working, can you please tell me your driver version? I know how to find symantic version. If you select mouse from the control panel, the window has the device settings tab. This will have the driver version. I don't have my laptop here to tell what version I have.
I did save the swsetup folder before clean install but I didn't notice the Quick Play drivers aren't in that folder!
I these questions are redundant, I would appreciate if you can provide me the links to this information.
I have Intel C2D T7100 notebook. -
ok, wow. i am really dissappointed right now, because i just typed the entire guide right now with pics.... but just a few hours ago my lights went out due to some local problem and i lost everything... i was using my desktop since i had all the pics saved there and didnt transfer it over to the laptop. i finally have a day off from work, and now this happens.
thanks to Hackez for all the help you have been providing. we really appreciate it. thanks for updating and uploading the new versions of the drivers as well.
honestly, all thanks should go to Hackez.
i dont have the fingerprint reader however, so i dont know if it would work under XP Pro.
sorry for any dissappointment i have caused.

i got this PM from knightkyun:
".... i still need some help on this topic, you see i did the process that was explained but y burned discs wont even boot up T_T, when i burned em with dvd-rws (havent tried any other formats) i get burned successful but it wont verify. Does N-lite beta and none beta can cause that? i used em both and same result though. plz help and ty. Geat guide btw."
i dont know if a beta version would cause that. i think it has to do with your DVD disk. you should burn the drivers on to a seperate disk, and just have a XP disk on a CD-R (with slipstreamed SATA drivers... make sure you select the correct one).
try using a CD-R -
Hey all, I just got my dv9500t today, and used Hackez last posted driver pack to install drivers. I have the TV tuner and fingerprint reader, and noticed that the fingerprint reader drivers weren't included. They can be located here:
http://list.driverguide.com/list/company2096/index.html
I'll upload them if anyone wants me to. I'll try my luck at QuickPlay Direct and the TV tuner tonight! -

Does anyone know of a guide for setting up QuickPlay?
I have seen some posts on this subject, but they reference an installation disc that did not come with my dv9500t. Any help would be appreciated. -
How do I find out wht sound card my 9500t has? then i can go n look for drivers.

that is Realtek high definition audio
driver version 5.10.0.5449 -
Hey guys, I am not a computer pogrammer neither can build a computer from scratch, I just use them for my bussiness, I bought the hp pavilion dv 9500t with vista, what a pain, none of my video editing programs worked.
simple solution, I paid $96 in a repair place to install xp pro and got rid of vista, I downloaded all the drivers necessary for xp from hp website, then for the biggest problem, the nvidis 8600m gs card has no drivers for xp, I went to http://www.laptopvideo2go.com, down loaded the driver for the card( the download number is 15609), also the corresponding Modded INF that was at the same window, printed the instructions to force install the driver and all is working perfect.
All my software is running without a problem
PS/ I backed up with Norton Ghost 10 after all the drivers and xp was installed.

system bus 800 MHz

Hey guys, I have GREAT NEWS!
I was just speaking with an online tech, when they told me HP is now starting to support XP on ALL new laptops. Their reason? Well, most users are downgrading from Vista to XP, and they've been getting lots of complaints, so they are going to release all drivers needed out soon!
The tech linked me to the TvTuner software/drivers for XP and an experimental version of QuickPlay 3.0 for these laptops. I'll test them out and tell you how it all goes! -
So i got the TV Tuner working, kind of, the remote won't and there really isn't any software that'll recognize the TV tuner. The card is really O/S Independent and i'm probably going to return it an order something different.
The QuickPlay was giving me vista only messages, so i guess the tech lied to me!
Waiting for HP to release the drivers/software themselves for now i guess! -
i installed quickplay 2.3 and it was kinda freak cause was trying to test if my tv tuner can work, it installed fine but when i turned on the program it wouldnt come off, when i exit it would just pop up again in like 2 secs. I wanna test out my tv tuner anyone have any suggestions? does anyone think of trying it on xp media center?

You SHOULD READ what I wrote in my #96 post. Maybe it would help you. -
any tips on activating hibernation on XP?

Hey everyone, just thought I'd pop in with the latest drivers for the DV9500T in Windows XP!
See this post for the latest up to date drivers. I have included the latest graphic drivers because that is the only thing that has changed. (Therefore I did not upload an entire new driver pack)
They are optimized for Bioshock as well, so be sure to check it out if you play Bioshock.
Also, Bioshock is one of the best PC Games I've played in years and would highly recommend it!
Cheers! 8)

Thanks in advance for your replies to me. -
Everyone make sure and email HP CEO Mark Hurd to:
- Let him know you are very disappointed they only offer inferior Vista with their new PCs/laptops
- Let him know all the trouble it's been to install XP + drivers
- Tell him that Dell listened to its customers and started offering XP to its customers again.
- Let him know the amount of the technology budget you influence (recommendations to acquaintances, corporate IT budget, etc)
- Tell him you simply can't in good conscience recommend an HP computer to someone until they support XP
- Ask him to at least offer drivers and support, even if he doesn't offer OEM XP
- Be very polite and respectful and you'll get much farther.
The above points are, of course, if that's the way you feel. Just some suggestions.
Thanks to the hard work of all who have helped! I have my dv9500t up and running with XP. -
hackez: Could you please upload the driver pack somewhere else? Before I finished downloading, I ran out of MegaUpload limit. That was after I had MegaManager and a free account with them. I would be glad to host those files on my webserver for easier use if you get them to me somehow.
-
My Laptop just got back today, perhaps later this week I can upload a new driver back, no sooner than then though. -
As of 09-01-2007:

Dear Hackez,
Even here in The Netherlands people are happy with your guide. I downgraded my pavillion 9595 succesfull to XP and I'm really happy. Thanks!!! I'm only facing a problem regarding the fan of my laptop. In Vista my fan is working less then it is in XP. It seems that the laptop is constantly cooling and therefore makes some noice (the fan). I'm using the chipset drivers version 1.1.9.0 that is posted by you earlier. I think that these are the drivers that control the power management???? Hope you can help me....
thanks in advance, kind regards Sven -

To all who have helped:
Thank you! I am in the process of trying to downgrade (actually dual-boot) my new dv2500t that was a factory replacement for a defective dv6000/dv6119us. I am following along with the wonderful step-by-step guide, but I can't seem to get past the slipstream step. I have created the ISO, but can't get it under 700MB to fit onto a CD. I burned it onto a DVD, but as I suspected, the drivers weren't recognized. Was anyone able to fit it onto a CD, or are you all using DVDs? If DVDs work, I may not have all of the correct driver files for the SATA controller. I really only know enough to be dangerous here.
Oh, and BTW, just to "give back" - next time someone want to put together a step-by-step documentary/tutorial, there is a great shareware/freeware app called screenprint32 that I use for capturing screenshots. -
Hey Bro, Thnx for all the effort you've put in..
I am going thru a similar problem..I got myself a DV 6500 SE from HP and its totally loaded with bloatware and has Vista as an OS.
As I am a beginner into all this, just wanted to know if the drivers of your Machine would work for me as well? (considering apart from the lightscribe disc, I probably have the same config)
Also, I tried formatting my machine both thru Partition Magic (dos) and FDisc but it kinda gives me an error on both a/c's...any suggestions as I need to re-partition the whole thing? -
what Windows XP version do you have? service packs?
my disk was probably about 691MB with SP2 and the driver.
- start with a fresh Windows XP disk (with nothing previously slipstreamed, nor added in an extra folder, etc).
- if you need to, slipstream SP2. slipstream the ICH8M driver ONLY. do not add anything else onto the CD, do not slipstream any other drivers to the CD (for size reasons). instead, burn the other drivers on another CD or transfer them to a flash drive.
good luck.
as for suggestions on repartitioning, just use the Windows XP disk that you created using these steps. You can delete all partitions, create new ones as you wish. You can also format using the Windows XP disk, it is all part of the installation process. -
The CD I have is for XP Pro SP2. I have essentially the same configuration as Mujjman with the Nvidia NB8M-GS (I believe the only real difference between HP 2500t and 6500t is size/14.1 vs. 15.4). Will the ICH8M driver allow the drive to be recognized?
-
hmmm, if you have a 2500t then im not exactly sure. this method has been tested for 6500t and 9500t and known to work 100% on those.... as far as i know, this hasnt been tested on 2500t but someone should let me know if it has been successful.
try and see if the ICH8M driver will work on your laptop (2500t).. you wont know until you try it or someone else already tried it and posted the results.
as far as i know, the 6500t and the 9500t are "more similar" than the 2500t.... but i forgot exactly how and why.
[EDIT]
sent PM -
ok, this is my THIRD ATTEMPT on trying to post the final part to this guide.... oh God please let this work and please do not let my computer crash.

a very very very BIG THANKS to Hackez for your help on this guide and your support to me and to all those who post for help on this thread. also a very BIG thanks for posting regular driver updates. THANK YOU!!!!!!!! and thank you for your patience. i know i have been really bad at updating.
thank you to everyone who have been waiting and sorry for keeping you waiting too long. thanks for everyone's support.
---------------
just a note:
the following screenshots were taken before the driver updates and when these were the only drivers available. after these screenshots have been taken, Hackez provided many new driver updates periodically and the setup screens and the filenames may have changed. any problems, just PM mujjuman or Hackez or post up a reply on this thread. thanks.
---------------
Now we begin (Installing drivers, etc. The fun part):
1. Now the fun part begins. This could also be the hard part. When you first boot, change your resolution to your native resolution.
2. If you open My Computer, the USB Camera is already installed. This didn’t happen to me when I first installed XP Pro. That’s because it was on SP1. It’s just something that I noticed.
3. Check the device manager every so often… I just provided pictures of what it should look like. You don’t really have to check it, but I typed “mandatory” when you need to check it, just so that you know you installed something right.
4. First thing you should do is to install the chipset drivers, then reboot. Check device manager.
5. Install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager Drivers. This is provided in the Hackez driver pack.
6. Install the graphics driver. If you have a card from nvidia, use the driver provided by Hackez or mujjuman (Hackez’s driver being newer). Otherwise you will have to use the intel driver that you should have downloaded before installing XP Pro. Click “ Continue Anyway” if a dialog box warns you that the driver is unsigned.
7. Reboot and check Display Properties to make sure that your card is properly listed. Check device manager.
8. Install the Realtek drivers. Start with “RTL8169…” first, then install “RTL8168…” Notice the LAN icon in the system tray. Open up “Network Connections” and you will see the LAN icon there as well. Reboot and check device manager.
9. Install the UAA Driver and Reboot. Check device manager (this one is mandatory) and notice that PCI Device has a “!” next to it. We will take care of that later.
10. Install the WDM Drivers. These are the sound drivers. Reboot. You might not have sound right away, this is ok.
11. Install the modem drivers. You might get an error saying that drivers are already installed. This is ok as well.
12. Install the synaptics driver but DON’T reboot. Install the Quicklaunch driver. You might get a bunch of “New Hardware Found” Wizards. Just choose one and make sure you click “No” then click next. Choose “Automatic” then click “Finish”. Reboot. NOTE: If you ever plan to install QuickPlay DirectPlay, do not touch the quickplay button on the quicklaunch keyboard.
13. Check device manager. Install the wireless drivers. Notice that there is a new wireless network found (if you have a wireless network nearby)
14. Install the Bluetooth drivers. You might get an error message. That is ok, just continue the installation.
15. Install the hp wireless assistant. This is so you can individually control the wireless card and the Bluetooth card. Reboot.
16. Before you can start using Bluetooth and sound, you will need to open device manager ( mandatory). Click on hp intergrated module, and update driver.
17. Click “no”, then choose Automatic on the next page, then click finish. Reboot.
18. Check device manager, and install the webcam drivers (even though a webcam is already detected and installed.)
19. Open the device manager ( mandatory) and find that “PCI Device” listed under “System”. Update the driver.
20. UAA will automatically be reinstalled, and so will the modem drivers. Please reboot.
21. You will notice that you now have sound!
22. Install the Ricoh Reader drivers, reboot.
23. The following is optional… Open windows explorer to your Windows directory, and delete the contents of the Prefetch folder.
24. Install Windows Updates, all your programs, etc.
25. Delete Prefetch contents again.
26. Reboot.
27. Enjoy!!!!!!
28. This is how your device manager should look like in the end:
-
ok, now just a question for everyone, should i make a new thread or should i just change the OP with the full guide (with both part 1 and part 2 in same post) along with link to the Hackez driver pack?
-
"Installing Windows XP on the dv9500 Series"
Perhaps you should attempt to contact a moderator to see if its possible for it to be stickied once posted?
I think most people would agree this Guide and Driver Pack are worth it, considering the amount of views this thread alone has recieved.
Once the new thread is posted it would also be a good idea to lock this thread and in the new thread include a link to this thread for pure reference.

I'm about to upload another new Driver Pack because I just got done sifting through all of the drivers I could find and updating them. (I hadn't had time to do this since when you first started the Guide)
This new Driver Pack is essential to update to if you have older drivers because it includes some monumental fixes/changes.
Driver Pack Revision 1.00:
This is the first final Driver Pack released by me.
New Additions: (Optional but necessary if it applies)
- DirectX Updater (Everyone should use this)
- Windows XP SP2 Dual Core Fix (If you have an Intel Dual Core Processor)
- Windows XP SP2 Dual Core Driver/Optimizer/Fix (If you have an AMD Dual Core Processor)
Updated Drivers:
- Synaptics Touchpad Driver updated to the latest version available. -

Note to mods:
please do not lock this thread yet. thanks -
I found a way to get the older (post #124) nVidia drivers from MegaUpload: http://megaez.com/mega.php
However, I can't get the driver pack because it's bigger than 150 MB. -
Mujjuman and Hackez, if there was a smiley for "on my knees worshipping" the screen would be full of them for you.
I dont really know much about computers except one thing, Vista blows (particularly in Japanese). Your step by step guide and updated drivers have made a task for the computionally challenged (me) quite easy. I have even got everything working, despite fears I might lose a few things.
Hats off to you lads, true gentlemen -
Which drivers do i need to install to allow XP Hibernation?
Premal. -
Can somebody help me??
Thanks! -
Mujjaman and Hackez . . .
Thank you for the work you have done in this area. Using your driver packs and instructions, I successully loaded XP unto my dv9500t. Everything works.
What brought me to this point, is that I need to make my recording studio operations mobile. So I needed a laptop. Real-time recording software needs advanced hardware. Hardware-wise, the dv9500t is ideal. I knew I had to take Vista off the laptop, because Steinberg PC-based recording studio products work only on XP at this point.
I didn't expect HP's lack of support for XP on the dv9500t. HP's web-site basically says that XP is possible on dv9500t, but at the same time HP does not post the drivers. HP's tech support says, "We don't downgrade Vista to XP. You take Vista off, you invalidate your warranty. You are on your own."
A Google search brought up you guys.
Thanks! You saved my business.
