My laptop specs are as follows :
    Model number : Dv6611ei ( 560 chipset )
Amd Turion X2 Dual core 1.8Ghz
    1GB DDR 2 Ram
    Nvidia 7150m Graphics
    5 in one card reader
    160GB Sata drive

    firewire
    Wireless lan
    Touch controls above the keyboard
    Expansion port
    External Monitor output
    Lightscribe multi DvD recorder
    Mic built into screen.
    Remote control unit.

Please be aware that there is no bluetooth or Webcam drivers included in the packadge since i dont have either of them. Hope this helps whoever needs drivers. TheDave you can sticky this on your main links post if you wish.

All drivers are based on Posts made here on this forum, mainly from TheDave. Also the nvidia drivers I pulled from laptop2go. Sometimes during restore you may get a popup asking for a file in the ricoh driver set, just cancel past it, xp picks it up on next reboot. The packadge above is Stricly drivers only, i did not include the AMD dual core patch, neither the wifi utility or touch buttons utility, these are all optional and i dont personaly use them. if you feel the need you can find links on the second post on page one posted by TheDave.

I have tested these by reinstalling windows and using them, it worked perfectly for me, and maybe for you too ...

    Regards
    RaymerJacque

    Dear All.

I have a DV6645us, I did the same as the instruction of Dave in 1#. But my Ethernet does not work. "This device cannot start (Code 10)" Although, I edit the INF file of ethernet. I change the line of nvnetbus.inf & nvenetfd.inf as Dave 's instruction.

Please help me. Thanks for your time.

use the driver pack i made above. there is no need to edit the inf files in it. just run the exe file and click restore ....

i would suggest that you completely remove the ethernet device completely before you click restore tho ...

    Hello!
First many thanks for the great job. Without this I cannot use my DV 6736nr with xp(works perfectly at 99.9% only the mic is out).

Now, I'm trying to download this new pack with the driver. But are 2 days that MegaUpload let me awaiting more or less 4 hours, and at the end tell me that ther is no more bandwidth...
I have registered in, I have installed the unusefull & suspicious toolbar but nothing happens.
I really need to pay for download this rar?
Is possible to upload this pack in MediaFire.com that is a really free-unlimited-no-headache service?

    Thank you a lot!

you have to run the driver pack again, and this time select only the network card drivers to restore. a few posts up i did mention this bug. then reboot.

    Dear cdanderson04

Do you try with the XP Drivers of Raymerjacque ? if yes, I suggest a software "Driver Magician". Use this software to detect your driver needed for your laptop. And download from site of HP or nvidia.

    good luck.

Hi there TheDave and all others ho read this thread,

First of all, i'd like to thank you very much!! i can imagine you spent a good amount of time testing and trying drivers to reach theese guides...

    Now,

I have a DV6650BR and i had some trouble to install all devices:

    - First, i fallowed TheDave's guide. I got almost everything going, except the Ethernet card, 1394 net adapter and the webcam.
    - For the webcam, i fallowed a guide found in HP website, that installs Windows XP KB899271-v4, that works for my 1.3 MP webcam.
    - For the ethernet, i tried the INF edits and the driver pack from this thread's page 16, but got no success. I managed to install it using a nForce 630a driver, just as DarkTemplar.
    - I still have the 1394 net adapter problem... so, can anyone help-me?

Also, i noticed that audio quality is really poor... : (
Do you guys notice and problem with audio quality as well?

PS: I'm not a native english speaker, so sorry for bad writting...

TheDave and others, awesome work! No more POS Vista for us.
I thought my machine had a bad system board because it would freeze when watching a video or simply using MS Word. Well, turns out Vista was the problem. I'm glad I didn't send the laptop to HP.

Anyways, I managed to install the audio and ethernet drivers succesfully. For the audio, I used the drivers provided on post #2. If you are having audio problems, use those drivers and follow the instructions properly. When I first installed the drivers, the volume couldn't be increased or decreased using the speaker icon in the task bar. The volume would just stay at the same level.

I realized I didn't follow the instructions carefully. After modding the two INF files (of the audio driver), the audio works properly. Make sure you check the hardware IDs of the audio driver and modd the INF files properly.

As for the ethernet driver, it gave me some trouble the first time I installed the driver. When the installation was almost completed, the computer randomlly restarted. Then the computer wouldn't boot to Windows, it would give me a blue screen. Well, then my next move was Safe Mode, which didn't help at all. By some reason, when I restarted the computer and run it in "normal mode," the system booted just fine.

But of course, the ethernet wasn't still working. So downloaded the Nforce 16.08 driver:
    http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOTHERBOARD/Others/nVidia-nForce-610i-630i-Driver-XP32-16-08.shtml
And I used the ethernet driver from it. Driver needs to be MODDED. Use the instructions provided by TheDave on post #2.

I'm still have an 'unknown device' listed in the device manager and the bluetooth is still not working. Please let me know if you got any of these two working.

    Thanks :D

HUGE Thanks to TheDave for this info to dump Vista and go back to Xp - for an Upgraded user experience. Tech support at HP was absolutely worthless for this.

Got my HP dv2740se running with your instructions on page one, just for my chipset. It is the same chipset nForce 560. Other drivers are at HP Website now, that will get you connected to Internet and make quick-launch buttons work. Then I went to Windows Update and most everything else, including audio, was taken care of via the M$ downloads.

I have a 100% clean Device Manager now, and video and disk access is now 30% to 50% than when Vista was constipating everything.

    Thanks!!!!!!

Thanks, your advice on the drivers for the HP dv was of immense help, I was about to hand it back as my client requires a laptop with XP loaded on it for the use of SAP and Novel Groupwise. Now everything appears to be running although I Had a hard time finding the nvefdxp.sys file which I found eventually hiding on the laptop after I had installed the nVidia driver packs. Thanks again. Until you can solve the problem fully, I suggest muting the speakers before you plug in headphones, and then un-muting once the headphones are plugged in.
The speakers should stay silent while you have your headphones in.

    Try it, and good luck!

best to stick to 32bit version of windows XP. 64bit has allways been a pain in the butt with drivers, not to mention compatibility issues with programs ... thats about the best advice i can give you...

well, the compatibility issue with programs is a myth !!!

XP 64 and vista 64 do have very good emulations for 32 bit. 32 bit software just behaves like you would run it in 32 bit OS, there is practically no performance loss when using 32 bit in a 64 bit Windows OS. Of course it would be nicer if all the software was already encoded in 64 bit, but that is not necessary.

the only problem is to get "all" the drivers.

A big thank you to TheDave, without you I never had made it. And, thanks for the rest of informative posts in this thread.

Many friends of mine suggested me to read this article before installing xp. I have a HP dv6516tx laptop with Intel and nvidia geforce 8400M GS graphic card. I installed XP on a virtual machine in Vista host and it installed some default driver for the graphics card. I downloaded the drivers for xp from nvidia site. I am not able to understand properly what has been discussed in this thread. I am unable to find the specified .inf file and edit it. I would be grateful if you could help me to install the drivers.
    Thank you

Wel, did you install the driver for the video??

If you havent or if the current version you installed is older try a different version from laptopvideo2go.com/forums and install it using the modded inf file(so that it can recognise the mobile GPU).

I really dislike Windows Vista and would love to get Windows XP SP2 fully working on my laptop as Vista is just too BLOATED and flat out ruins a decent pc performance experience cuz of all the stuff its loaded with not to mention its not exactly even compatible with almost everything thats out there, Can you PLEASE help me by posting or emailing me a step by step tutorial if theres any hope for the model i have which i listed below?
Im Sick of Vista and would really love to finally get Windows XP SP2 working which is the OS I prefer, enjoy and have always used -

Please help me downgrade to XP SP2..

Also please note that i bought the laptop as is but lucked out as it was in near spanking mint condition inside and out as i opened it and re-closed it just to make sure and its truly in mint shape and yes everything is fully functional only it came with everything pre-installed so i've no actual software of any kind for it but am willing to download and get whatever using my home desktop in order to do so if it can successfully downgrade which seems more like an upgrade at this point or in general as Windows XP SP2 in my book is a far better OS in terms of over-all stability, speed and user experience.

    My Laptop (Specs):

Windows Vista Home Premium (6.0, Build 600 1)

    HP Pavilion dv9500
    PhoenixBioS 4.0 release 6.1

Human Interface Devices HID-compliant device, HP Quick Launch Buttons
    Seagate sata 120gb 7200 RPM
    DVD+-rw Slimtype DVD A DS8A1P ATA Device
Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS (NVIDIA Driver 7.15.11.5665 9/19/2007)
HD AUDIO soft data fAX MODEM WITH SMARTCP
    Conexant High Definition SmartAudio HD2
    Broadcom 4321AG 802.11a/b/gdraft-n Wi-Fi Adapter
    Nvidia nForce Networking Controller
SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller

    Question ??
I already have VISTA PREMIUM running and the entire laptop is just as it came from HP with Vista installed on it so do i obviously just download your link and once im done just click on the .exe you provided and it'll hopefully let me get rid of the Vista OS by completely Over-writing its drivers with your XP Drivers?
Also is there something else i need to know or do in order to get your driver doodad to work or anything else i have to do first to Vista before i can go ahead and use your .exe :)
Also assuming i just over-write Vista with your .exe and once the drivers from it are installed i just install an official XP SP2 disc and completely finish getting rid of Vista if it allows me the option to remove it from the system while installing any other missing drivers i want from the tutorials here right?

    In Laymans Terms:

Will it over-write, erase or get rid of Vista and its drivers while replacing them with your XP drivers cuz the laptop is running the Vista OS as it came so let me know what i should do so i can do it right.

Thanks and please let me know.. MK Crnths.

Also this is the Laptop as it is right now:

    * HP DV9500
    * Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 (32-bit)
    * AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-60 (2.0 GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache
    * 17.0" WSXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1680 x 1050)
    * 3GB DDR2 System Memory
    * 383MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
    * HP Imprint Finish (Radiance) + Microphone
    * 802.11a/b/g/n (draft 802.11n) WLAN
    * 120GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
    * SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
    * 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
*Glide TouchScreen Media Button dvd+volume controls ect (above keyboard)
    *4usb 2.0/1394/1 Network + 1 Modem jack/5 in 1 card reader/1 HDMI Out/1 expansion Port 3/1 S-Video Out/1 Express Card Slot.

RAYMERJACQUE: Thanks for dropping that in my lap although i was already aware of it as i'd seen in posted having read all the previous posts in the threads here in the quest to soak up enough knowledge and/or help unfortunately in the way of help all i got was basically go to this thread and read which i did and which i must admit worked as i can report SUCCESS!!

My system is now Windows XP SP2 and everything is fully functional or just about everything... So thankyou and Thankyou too Mujjuman :)

The only item thats not working now is the "Touch Q&DVD Button" which i could care less for as the process for getting it to work according to threat#47 doesn't sound friendly as i am a firm believer in Murphys Law which states that anything that can go wrong will go wrong and for all i know if the laptop refuses to boot or even reboot or to simply just fall in line with the method described for whatever the reason who wouldn't loose their hair or sanity with a laptop that no longer turns on so the bad outweighs the good and will pass on that method/those buttons.
But if anyone else comes out with any simpler method that they're willing share as far as the Q&DVD Buttons then im all for it :)

The only other item is my OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller which as of yet has refused to play ball though im not giving up on it and still trying as i've already tried using windows internet driver update to do so only it tells me something along the lines of it can't find anything better than the version i already have which sounds like a crock as you'd think it would look for one that should even if older only i guess its only programmed to look for updated as in newer versions rather than older drivers which in many cases are perfectly great.

So the quest continues... for a 1394 driver that works..

Thanks again everyone as yes i' have obviously read and followed or tried the thread suggestions as i wouldn't have gotten this far and as i said im fully on XP SP2 with sound and touch controls on the right side and everything else for that matter working so im definitely happy and just need to figure out a 1394 doodad that'll work and im good... err unless sum1 comes up with a neater Q&DVD button answer.

    MK Crnths.

Ok...sorry to repeat but I have similar problems to alot of you guys here. I am downloading drivers from all over this forum but some that I need are no longer available.
My bluetooth does not work...but I am downloading a driver right now so I will try that soon. Hopefully it will be a success.
Device manager has a yellow question mark in other devices but it says unknown device.
My built in mic does not work nor any other external mic I plug in. :(
I do not have Verisoft software to run the finger reader...i don't NEED this but I would like it to work.
Those are my main concerns. Bluetooth, Mic, fix the device manager and the finger reader.
If anyone can direct me to the drivers that are actually uploaded and available or a walk-thru type thing that I can follow...I would be forever greatful!I really don't like the idea of having to go and put back Vista.....

You have wrong driver, at least it doesnt detect when external speakers / headset is connected on my dv6645eo so i have to use this driver with same inf hack:

    Download:
    sp34204.exe
Unzip with 7zip the audio driver file and edit At8VEN5a.inf
Under the [Conexant] section add the following hardware id:
    %HdAudioFunctionDriver.Waikiki5047.DeviceDesc% = HdAudModel,HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5045&SUBSYS_103C30CF

Should work like it does here even the quality of this sound chip doesnt fit to my hifi section :)

    Gaaaaaaaaa!

Sorry, but I'm about to throw my damn laptop (or my friends actually) out the window!

I'm trying to downgrade a DV9645EO to Windows XP.

Everything is actually working EXCEPT for the ethernet and the firewire. I've tried every nForce driver there is but no one seem to be working.

Windows find and installs the driver after the nForce installation, but when it tries to load it I get an error "(Code 10)" and an exclamation mark in the device manager.

    CPU-Z output:

    Manufacturer: Quanta
    Model: 30DA, 85.24
Chipset: NVIDIA nForce 520 Rev. A3
    Southbridge: NVIDIA ID0442

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

    /Mathias
