Hey all, I have a DV6600WM and using this thread info and some other sources managed to complete a downgrade to XP. For most of the drivers I actually just used and integrated into my Windows XP install the driver packs here: http://driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/. These worked for everything except the modem, sound and 5-1 card reader, the modem and sound drivers download fine from windows update for me though. The only other driver I needed was the card reader which I used the DV9000T one, which I believe is the one linked in the OPs first or second post on the subject. I'd suggest just Nlite-ing that file and all those driver packs and then download the modem and sound from windows update, the ONLY thing that doesn't work on my computer is the firewire controller. I'm going to post the details of it below, maybe someone can help? I've heard that downgrading the BIOS to F.25 can fix this, but I'm not a fan of downgrading BIOS especially when most of the fixes are for 4gb of ram and I do have 4GB in this machine now.
Firewire controller:
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0832&SUBSYS_30CF103C&REV_05
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0832&SUBSYS_30CF103C
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0832&CC_0C0010
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0832&CC_0C00
it has the default OHCI M$ drivers installed now but it's always in the yellow circle with exclimation point not functioning state. I'm not supremely worried about it, but I do like to have a PC that works as if it was made to be the way it is, even when it isn't originally. If anyone's got an idea for the firewire that should nail it down for a lot of people to just use those driver packs and a few HP genuine files to make WinXP work great. I didn't have to make any INF edits etc to get to the point I'm at now.
I haven't checked for the "speakers always on" problem but I can tell you the volume in the conextant drivers is WAY TOO LOUD. Until I dropped the WAV volume to about 3 tick marks from completely off the main volume control didn't even do anything as far as I could tell, once you get the volume down that low it actually works as intended. -
As an update, BIOS version F.28 eliminates the firewire problem it would appear, I no longer get a code ten and a error in device manager, I haven't tried the firewire to see if it works but I presume it probably will. Hopefully HP will address this as the latest 2 BIOS releases do not work. If you need the bios it can be found under the previous versions link in the drivers and software page for the DV6609WM or as SP38368. Obviously this only applies to the 6609 and the couple of notebooks that are the same package with different hard drives/ram/cpu configuration. Hope that helps someone, it would appear I now have a 100% functional Windows XP install!

Dave. I'm having some trouble and i registered just to ask you about it. I got my computer from a man that i work with. He was having trouble with Vista so he said, if you can fix it you can have it! So of course i installed XP on it and all of that jazz, and its been working fine untill i decided to plug in an ethernet cable. I came to the realization that i don't have the driver for it! Its odd because i installed the Nvidia driver/chipset thingie in your post #2. I'm just going to send you a screen of my network connections and device manager in hopes of you helping my problem.
If you could please give me your input on this ASAP, I don't know what went wrong, and if i should reformat or not.
NOTE: The black window, Is my windows XP Theme manager. NOT vista! -
It was actually pretty enjoyable using this guide to get around the Vista only attempt by HP.
I'm also having a 'speaker always on' difficulty. Also can't use the mic.
I'll keep working on it from here and see if I can't find a solution, but if I can't, hopefully someone can. -
I simply uninstalled the driver for the Conexant High Definition Audio Driver in the device manager.
Then I let XP find the driver automatically, which usually never works, but this time it worked like a charm.
The version you install in this thread is 3.38.0.50 A.
The version that worked for me is 3.26.0.50
Hope it works for everyone. -
I think it's packed with Nforce 14.10 for XP? -
-
Try this...
I would simply go into device manager and update the driver. Either may work, but I've not tried the .exe. Probably either would work.

Apologies for the lame 25 second wait, but you'll have to be patientJust enter the validation code and click download.

hi, i have a problem, i installed the driver 34200, works fine, but sometimes does extrange noise, for example, when i listen a track on winamp, sometimes does extrange noise, like "clips" do someone has the same problem? i tried the 34230 and a lot of drivers but everything do the same, how can i fix? i have a dv6645us
-
You can try the driver I have posted above. It may work, it may not. I've also read about a couple pavillion models transmitting hard drive vibrations through the speakers, in which case a driver isn't going to do anything for you.
-
thanks kelrizzo for the reply, and about the hard drive, how can fix or solution this? about the hard drive vibrations?
how can i know if i have hard drive vibrations? -
I'm not saying that's the case, just that I googled your issue and that's one thing that came up.
If that is what was happening, the only thing you could do is RMA it with the company. Have you called tech support for the machine? -
no, i didnt call, because i live in argentina, and i bought the notebook in united states, and here hp doesnt give me suport, i need to call to u.s. can i test with softwares of vibrations?
or start and extrange noise or something? i always listen a noise of the hd, very frecuently, like every 2seconds, for example, if i dont use the computer, the hard drive does a noise, does it comun? -
This is great! Dave, you're a peach!
I have a new dv6910us that I 'upgraded' to xp pro. Thanks to your post here I've got everything working (even webcam and mic) except 2 small things: Bluetooth device isn't recognized and the wireless led never changes color.
I've tried installing every integrated module version I can find but I get to one point and it keeps telling me to turn on my bluetooth device. The only thing listed in device manager is bluetooth bus enumerator. It was working in Vista but now I can't get it recognized at all.
The wireless works great and the slider button turns it on and off, however the led color never changes from amber to blue.
If you could give me some help on the last 2 things I'd be an even bigger admirer.
I've got :AMD Turion 64 x2 Mobile TL-60 @ 2000mhz
Nvidia nForce 560
Atheros Ar5600 Wireless Nic
I don't know what else you'd need to know. -
Elverde, I really wish I could help you.
You may want to e-mail HP for support. Let them know you live out of the country and explain your problem. They do have an Argentina site at www.hp.com. -
Did you try the bluetooth driver in Softpaq 34842?
As for the blue light, I'm going to guess that it's part of the Broadcom driver.
You'll want to download those from the first page under the 802.11b/g nic heading.
One thing that helped me was to see what was not working in the device manager and to tell it to update the driver, and physically go to the path.
I also highly suggest downloading and using Driver Magician Liteonce you get your system all set up. That way you won't have to reinvent the wheel when that fateful day comes and you have to reinstall XP on your Vista "optimized" laptop.
Try this link as well http://www.radarsync.com/driver/d275388-bluetooth_bus_enumerator -
kelrizzo: about the problem of vibrations hard drive, its a problem about the hard drive or the machine? for example, if i change the hard drive, can i fix this?
do someone has the same problem? -
For the latest and greatest NVIDIA display drivers you guys might want to check this tool out:
http://www.driverheaven.net/driverh...heaven-mobility-modder-v1-1-0-0-released.html
Driver Heaven's "Mobility Modder" tool for Nvidia drivers modifies the INFs of the latest NVIDIA drivers to work properly with the mobile versions of the same hardware. I'm currently running the 177 BETA w/ Physx and CUDA support on my DV6609WM using this tool. It glitches a little sometimes opening control panel windows, but for whatever reason the display LOOKS much better on apps etc. I'll update this if I run into big issues etc. You may also want to consider using the Driver Sweeper program that is available from Guru3d to remove the old ones before you try and put new ones on. -
-
Just wanted to update. Found this and it let me install UAA finally...
If the install for this vanishes, you need to DELETE the registry entry @ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP3\KB888111WXPSP2
Once that is deleted then you can reinstall without it just flashing on the screen. It MIGHT not contain the wxpsp2 part at the end, but it is KB888111
Hope this helps... I have been battling this for awhile! -
well it went through the install process....but it still didn't install correctly...man and i thought i had a breakthrough there.

hi guys!
the solution for conexant high definition audio driver under XP is a little complicated:
you need to download from HP s website 2 different drivers:
SP36090 the latest conexant for XP, and
SP36214 the latest conexant for Vista
execute both files! It will unpack these files and try to install the drivers, but probably without success!
You`ll have both of the drivers unpacked:
one: c:\sp36090
the other one c:\swsetup\SP36214 if you don`t change the path before unpacking
Now: go to sp36090 directory choose xp32 if you have XP 32 bit version and there
rename the files CHDAud.sys -to-> CHDART.sys
and UCI32105.dll -to-> UCI32A19.dll
after this copy the renamed files into SP36214\v32 by overwriting the originals
that`s it! you have the drivers for Conexant High Definition Audio for XP 32 bit version.
do not execute because it will not be able to install the soundcard!
First of all you have to install the high definition audio bus for high definition audio by downloading and installing kb888111xpsp2.exe from microsoft.
Execute the file! this will install the HDA bus. If there s a problem you`ll see the exclamation sign in System devices (PCI device) you`ll update the driver for that. It Should automatically install the high definition audio bus for you.
After the high definition audio bus is installed properly(reboot). Your system should find the high definition audio soundcard. Now you update it`s driver. by giving it the right path for the audio driver(don`t let it connect to the internet, you have to specify that you want to install the soundcard, "have a disk and there you specify the location of the .inf file from directory sp36214\v32"). Let it install the driver even though xp will not like it. Reboot. Your Mic should work better!
I hope I could help!
Attila"""
Finally, here's this "fix":
http://www.mediafire.com/?dg0cmmkm4y4
which is meant to be an xp conexant hermosa driver -
-
please, who can help me with the driver conexant sound card? i tried many drivers and alls doesnt works ok, sometimes start to do extrange noises, the driver 35682 works perfect, except the headphones, please can someone can help me to fix the driver 35682 to use the headphones? because i tried other drivers but works so bad, i have the hp pavilion dv6645us , do someone has this notebook?
-
man i wish i could help you...every other driver on this website worked perfectly for me but i still can't get the uaa to install properly. it's recognizing it but still has that lovely yellow ! ... same as before after the run the uaa install it doesn't reboot. just flashes
"Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for HD Audio Setup is preparingthe installshield , which will guide you through the EULA and the rest of the setup process."
and disappears. -
what about DV5z? is it possible to install XP on it ?

EDIT 2: I installed the nVIDIA driver manually (from the hardware manager) and no go. I get an error message saying "the driver was not intended for this platform."
I'm sorry to continually bug you guys, I'm just pretty frustrated.
Hey. raymerjacque, thank you for the wonderful driver pack, but I am having a minor problem.
Installing the drivers, I get the message "The file 'nvefdxp.sys' on NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller Driver Disk 1 is needed." I installed only the network card the second time around as was said, but it still asks me for the nvefdxp.sys file which I don't help.
Does any one know the solution to this. Thank you in advance.
P.S. It is a dv6700
EDIT: Ok, I found a copy online and used it...but still no drivers. Any one have any idea what I could be? -
Thanks Dave and others, great work here.
I have an HP DV6603ax laptop which has amd cpu and nvidia 8400M GS graphics, have all drivers running fine under win xp pro sp2 except for coprocessor which is coming up with a big yellow question mark and yellow exclamation mark under the other devices subgroup.
I understand that coprocessor relates to the graphics, ive tried using other nvidia graphics drivers but still no luck.
Anyone know how to fix this issue? -
Have you tried using the Nvidia Mobility Modder from driver heaven on the newest WHQL drivers? Worked pretty well for my laptop, I'm using 175.19 on my laptop at the moment via that tool. If the coprocessor is in fact graphics related that should clear it up. If not try opening up the device and post the Device IDs/google the device ID for an exact identification.

I registered to first off thank The Dave and others who had posted on some models they have. Unfortunately I hadn't found exactly the same model but things were close enough for me to do some minor changes without having to modify the idf files. I just reworked a HP Pavilion series dv9700 model #dv9727cl, "Upgrading" from Vista to Windows XP Pro for my dad. After downloading the mega file that The Dave had put together and uploaded I was able to have most everything set up with the exception of Network, wireless, modem, and audio. With the aid of Nvida nforce driver and Atheros AR5006x (mine being the AR5007) had network issues resolved. The modem and audio were a little more tricky since nothing seemed to work. I finally found drivers that did work.
For anyone with the 9700 series or similar that have the 30D1 system board and AMD Turion64x2 I will be more then happy to upload what I have if someone can explain to me how to send all of it. Otherwise I can put them on my own personal home page and you can contact me via [email protected] Thank you again Mr. Dave and others who had drivers for your help. -
Thanks a lot for the post Dsve.. If I couldnt find this link I think I would have gone back to Vista.. which I really hate.
But I still have one last problem after installation of all the drivers on my dv2615nr.
i.e. Audio output from both the speakers and headphones simultaneously.
How can this be handled. I am not sure if this some kind a hardware problem.
Thanks a lot in advance. -
Hi! A question
I have a dv9812, with XP working fine, all the drivers , all OK.
But there is something about an unattended version of windows. It seems that the drivers for my SATA disc are not good (just in this ue windows).
My BIOS doesnt have the option to disable SATA, so what could this problem be?
Original XP SP3 works ok, but this other windows SP3, doesn't.
When the unattended windows boots , starts loading drivers, but when the time reaches for windows installation and partition list, a BLUE SCREEN appears with HARD DISK problems.
I have tried the nLite software to edit my windows and add my drivers for my disk, but I cant really know if my drivers are ok, or if this is the problem...
My chipset drivers are 14.10 nforce 630a for xp
I have used CPUZ to know the parts of my laptop and the displayed thing was this:
Quanta 30D1 nvidia nforce 560 motherboard
any ideas how to add ANY working driver to my unattended windows version??? thanks!!! -
http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/nForce/12.15/12.15_nforce_520_winxp32_english_whql.exe
use that file, either run it or use winrar to extract the files out of it (if you run it it will extract all the files to C:\nvidia)
Once that's done use nlite to add it to your windows CD but make sure you pick textmode when it asks what kind of driver you want to install and pick all of the drivers that show up in the selection window. That should fix your problem. -
well I'm going to test what you have just told me!...
I'll come back and tell the results..
thanks! -
-
Out of curiosity, is SP3 slipstreamed into your unattended install?
-
slipstreamed is "added" with nlite o somthing like that???
YES IT IS!!! -
