if not can you share with us that wallpaper I'd love to put that in my dv1000t ^^ (my dv100t looks like grandpa compared to that baby) :/ -
Very nice looking notebook. I have an HP ZV6000 and I love the way mine looks too. Very solid construction.

Of course teh lines are the wallpaper, its not the lid thats transparent -
the extra $$ for the dv2000 case over the dv1000t is definately worth it!
thanks tph! -
In pic 17, what kind of messenger did you use?
and was that styleXP theme?? -
Ah
The IM is Miranda and the winxp style is system4 from deviantart. Tho the quicklaunch icons are by me -
-
I can upload that stuff, so just PM me if youre interested. Cheers.

Metamorphical Good computer user
Wow that's so pretty and shiny. Thanks for the pictures. I hope it came with a cleaning cloth...
-
as a matter of fact, it did
-
Great notebook, great wallpaper (looks great on my L2000).
Edit: I'm starting to love this wallpaper. My laptop feels like new -
hey TPH... thanks for your pictures and specifications about the laptop. i got one form OD for about $400 AR. It was pretty awesome deal. I was actually looking for the pictures of DV2000T and couldnt find anywhere but finally from your thread.
Thanks.. -
hey tph, how many hours of battery life do you get from the 6-cell battery. Try do decide whether I should go with that or the 12-cell upgrade. Problem is the 12-cell upgrade turns the beautiful laptop into a quasimodo. Thanks.
-
-
well I wanted to write a review for that laptop but NBR told me they already have people writing it. apparently they aint got those laps yet. I got 3h04min with WiFi on and FULL brightness doing some visual studio 2005 coding and listening to music (headphones tho). id say the batt life is spectacular. i wouldnt go with the 12cell as it will make it much heavier and a little impractical for carrying. unless you need around 5-6hrs of usage. cheers.

-
its still not alot with a 12 cell lol
-
Cox, how do you feel about the remote control? Would it slide in the Exp Card slot? or it stick out some part? I'd never used remote before, would the machine charge the remote when it slide in?
-
i havent checked the weight, but for me - its one hell of a light notebook
and yeah - the remote does slide in and fits perfectly well (you can see it in one of my pictures at the top of the thread). it requires a battery (a flat, circular one) and its not charged within the laptop

Does HP give good service and are their computers reliable?
Sorry for such newbie questions. Reading much at this board is well over my head. Thanks in advance for any help.

How is the keyboard? Can you compare it to a ThinkPad? How about the track pad? Are the buttons okay on it? What are you upgrading from and how would you compare the speed of the new system to the old one? Tried doing anything that really slowed down your old (assuming single core) system that really flys on the new system? -
First of all: I would certainly recommend it. You just need to reinstall the winxp and it flies perfectly. And what is most important - its beautiful! Not many laptops out there as great-looking as this one. 1 GB is a must I think. I will upgrade that but after the summer. I fear that this 512 might be slowing my unit down.
I cant compare the keyboard, but it feels so good that its hard to adjust myself back to my desktop microsoft wireless elite. Its amazing. The touchpad is great, with the alluminium filling and the buttons are very good and big enough.
As I said - I asked nbr whether I could write a review but they told me not to. Its just that right now I aint got enough time to do it, whereas I had some 2 weeks ago. Cheers. -
Great to hear on the keyboard and thanks for all the great information tph...
One question that I saw above - would you recommend the 12 cell battery? The one thing that really bothers me about it though is the pictures seem to suggest that it sticks way out the bottom which, while making for a nice elevated keyboard, would also seem to be a serious pain in the butt to get in and out of cases.
Can anyone comment on the 12-cell? -
Yeah, the battery sticks out slightly, but it can actually be used as a kind of handle when removing your laptop from your bag... it gives you something to grab onto. And no, it doesn't make it hard to put the laptop into a case, at least not in the case I use.
Bottom line is, it gave me a laptop that ran and ran when away from a wall! I got over 7 hours the one and only time I really left my laptop on to test out the battery.
Unfortunately, I purchased my dv2k as a preconfig'd unit from Fry's, and while the preconfig had most features I wanted (2GB ram, 120 G hard drive, lightscribe, etc.) it came with the 6 cell battery.
I'm on a business trip right now, and trying to decide if I should spend the extra money to get the 12 cell. The thing is, if you purchase the 12 cell as the only battery when you custom order, it costs like $38 extra. If you get your computer, and THEN want a 12 cell from HP as an additional battery, it's $180! -
Do you get any fingerprints on the new case? Do you think the case will scratch easily?
-
It doesn't seem the lid will scratch easily, though. I read a review where the reviewer said he tried to see how prone the lid was to scratches, being HP says it's scratch resistant. He only used his fingernail on the demo dv2000's lid, didn't want to try anything harder, but he reported it didn't scratch.
Frankly, I'm not going to try to scratch my new toy, but it does seem to be scratch resistant.
Guess I'd rather have finger prints the scratches, but it is a little annoying. My old dv1000's lid didn't show fingerprints, but I read a few people's reviews, who reported that it did scratch easily.
The lid does look cool, though! -
Fingerprints do show up in some areas. I have the Compaq version which has a greyish lid finish and doesnt show any fingerprints, but the screen is surrounded by a high gloss black finish which is more prone to fingerprints. -
Cool, thanks. How do you like the speakers placed on the top of the keyboard compared to on the outside like the 1000t? I know it annoys me a bit if I'm typing and listening to music that my wrists sort of block the sound a bit.
-
WOW!
That is one *****in notebook! Sorry for the emphatic swear. This laptop is sweet.
This is going to be in my list for consideration when school starts again in September. I live in Canada and for those Canadians who wants this laptop, good news. I read in a website that both dv2000 and v3000 will be available in Canada this July.
Here's the link to the article: http://marketnews.ca/news_detail.asp?nid=1721
But yeah. Can't wait for the dv2000 to be at my local BestBuy and fiddle with it. Thanks tph for posting some awesome pics.
Quick little question: Anyone tried running Adobe software on the dv2000 (ie. Photoshop, Premiere, & Encore)? -

Also, got the 40 gb hard drive which more than enough for my sisters needs. I know nothing about the forthcoming Windows OS, but will it and associated programs require a bigger hard drive than 40 GB?
I appreciate your help. Hope my Averatec breaks so I can get one of these.
;-) -
In what part of the article, they said that dv2000 will be available in Canada this July?? -
This design in combination with a x1600 would have made me purchasing it immediately. Too bad it doesn't come with a proper GPU.

Oh I See... sorry..
I hope they will do the same here in Mexico... -
Hey guys, can you tell me if the dv2000t has those real load "clicky" buttons near the track pad? Also Does any know if getting the faster processor, and more memory would cause the machine heat up more? Finally, is the fan noisy / come on often? Thanx in advance!
Oh yeah, do you think it would possible to switch the 10/100 ethernet port for a 100/1000 port? -
-
Hey folks!!
I bought a DV2000T recently & I haven't received the lil cute remote which was shown in the PICS...
is that a default for all DV2000T laptops.. if so..please let me know.. I gotta get in touch with HP now..?? -
Chris -
Nevertheless, can someone tell me.. howz the functionality of that remote...it looks cool.. but if it has got some kewl features.. then i might buy it!!
Also, do i need any additional features in my DV200T for that to work with my PC -
The remote works great and it fits in your express card slot (i forget that it's even there half of the time). I'm pretty sure it works with programs other than quickplay...like Windows media player, etc. There's also a power button on the remote which will either shut down your pc or hibernate...i can't remember which one.
The remote does not require any extra programs for it to work with the dv2000t. I just did a clean install of XP on my dv2000t and didn't have to load any drivers for the remote. -
I use my laptop to listen to music. It's great to have the remote, to pause, start, lower/raise the volume, etc.
Also use it when watching a movie on my dv2000t. Great to be able to pause, etc. and not have to jump up and walk over to the laptop (boy... have WE become a lazy society, or what???)
For a lousey $20, get it! -
hmm i cant seem to find that xp theme system4 can we get a link?
