Bummer....
Oh well, I got a $50 coupon for whatever. I was going to buy a Lacie portable external HD, but maybe now I'll buy the HP Pocket HD. Anybody have any experiance with these units? I was also thinking of getting an iPAQ HX2495, to use it's bluetooth with my Garmin mobile10 as a more portable GPS for walking around when on vacation if need be (it would be great for our trip to Rome next spring!!!)... so who knows.
-
I got the same e-mail. Did you actually get the coupon yet? -
just bought dv6291ea
and i'm lovin it. -

My new dv6000t runs VISTA fine but the video drivers for the go7400 are sooo slooow. I only get 1600 in 3dMark05 and the benchmarks I've seen where getting 2000 or more in XP. Anyone found better drivers?
I'm thinking of just selling it and getting something with a go7600 or go7700. -

I am looking to pick up one of these laptops. I have a few questions about a difference in a couple of components:
1) Should I pay the extra $100 to spring for the T7200?
2) Is the Geforce 7400 worth the upgrade at around $55 or so?
I am on my system all day but use it only for office productivity and internet and I occassionally watch videos on it. That is pretty much it.
I a definitely getting 2 gigs of ram and those two compenants above are the only two I am unsure about. -
to negotiator:
1.) Getting the T7200 proc. all depends on your budget and what you will be using the laptop for. If you have a pretty big budget and can afford it, then i would probably recommend it. Getting the fastest one offered will help make the laptop last a little longer as far as "future-proof" goes. If you are on a budget however then the c2d 1.83 Ghz should be pretty sufficient unless you are going to be doing some hardcore stuff that demands a lot of "mathematical-based" computations such as Matlab, or other intense programs. But mainly if you are only going to be using stuff like MSFT Office and other programs similar to it along with internet, i dont see the T7200 being a big need. As I said above a Core 2 Duo 1.73(?) or 1.83 should be plenty good enough, unless you just want to "Future-Proof" your system as much as you can.
2.) Getting the GeForce 7400 is definitely recommended because it is a dedicated graphics card. If you will be doing some gaming...then it will be even more of a demand for your needs. In my opinion..the Intel based video cards suck!
Hope this helps! -

Give it time so nVidia can straighten out the driver issues. Eventually they will. -
When I placed my order I noticed after I submitted that I got two letters in my e-mail backwards. I changed it in afterwards in my account options will i be ok you think on getting up to date e-mails?
-
-
Well I just checked my order status and logged using my updated correct address and it said it has been updated to factory.

I got my HP Pavilion dv6275us on tuesday and so far what I love most is the digital TV tuner. It is awesome.
What I hate most is windows vista. It takes forever to start the PC, even with 2GB of ram and Core 2 duo processor. My old DV1000 with an intel M processor and 1gb of ram starts in third the time running on XP of course.
I was thinking on installing XP on the new PC but I don't know if the TV tuner will work on XP. Does anybody know?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm keeping Vista. I have the same model as you, but I don't find boot up any longer than XP Pro on my old HP notebook. Besides, I like Vista's features too much to go back to XP.
Enjoy your new computer.

I ordered a very sweet computer myself on the 19th, and it said that the computer would ship on the first of March. Well, I got the same message as that previous poster: Its going to ship on the 5th instead. I guess HP is having some production problems. I wonder why?
Anyway, as you can see, I got my coupon. It arrived in my inbox almost exactly one hour after the e-mail reporting the delay in shipping. I might have been jipped by HP for the delay in shipping, but I will admit they are good about restitution.
I got the dv600t, customized to...
- Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
- Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T7200 (2.0GHz/4MB L2Cache)
- 15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
- 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400
- HP Imprint Finish + Microphone + Webcam
- 2048MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
- FREE Upgrade from 60GB 5400RPM to 80GB 5400RPM!!
- FREE Upgrade: 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support
- Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
- No TV Tuner w/remote control
- 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
I tried to get the best of what really matters. I ended up with $1350.61 grand total. I really hope I can play Counter-Strike: Source at an acceptable frame rate on this rig!
Oh well.
Here's hoping that the computer really does ship on the 5th!

The dv6000t/z is a really popular computer, and I suspect demand is the reason for HP's delays in getting CTO's out. Hope it arrives soon. You have a good configuration.
-
but it's all good.
-
Agreed. I can wait... but I really cant!
-
I see that the service manual states that the dv6000t can also come with a HDMI port. How do i spec it to get an HDMI port? Is it part of the "Productivity Ports"?
-
I never seen any dv6000t with a HDMI port or option to add. only on DV9000 is this an option. I do not think its part of "productivity ports"

Anyone have this hooked up to an external monitor? I have mine hooked up to Gateway FPD2485W via analog, and I'm seeing some monitor flicker. I have resolution set to 1900 x 1200 and refresh rate is at 60 Hz. Tried updating drivers, but that didn't help. Anyone in a similar situation or have any advice? Thanks in advance!
-
how did you get a DV6000 to output at 1900 x 1200 ?
-
I think he means his Gateway monitor is 1900 x 1200.
-
anyone know whether it is possible to hook a dv6152 to external speakers??
-
So what's the deal with the reported high pitched whine coming from the HD? Does that still happen or have the newer models fixed it?
-
it will always be like that; it's not a problem with laptops and HP said it will occur due to various reasons that I forget - heh sorry.
Maybe its my laptop. I have dv6000t and I rarely hear the high pitched whine. I occasionally hear it but its so small it doesnt bother me. The laptop is extremely quiet overall. -

I am looking at buying the HP dv6258se at Best Buy. Does anyone know if it has bluetooth? If it does not, can I just switch out the wireless card with a new one that has bluetooth.
-
No, it does not have bluetooth.
If you want to swap wireless cards, you have to be careful; the BIOS has a whitelist of what cards are acceptable.
However, you can probably just buy a bluetooth module from HP parts and install it. http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/sp...e=&partsrch=412766-001&submit.x=10&submit.y=8
Yes, I agree that $65 for the module is unreasonable, which is why I'm waiting a bit to order one. -
would it be better to go with the best buy warranty or the hp warranty? I am looking at a 3 year.

Hi Folks, A New Guy In town,
I have just read many, many pages in this thread. Looks like a great place.
I had an equivilant Dell and they screwed the order with a glossy screen and I sent it back. I found out I have a good on the job employee discount and went with a loaded HP dv6000t. (Specs at the bottom)
I ordered 2/16/07 and after 2 so-sorry emails I just got my tracking number minutes ago. Was supposed to ship 2/28.
I'll be hanging out and reporting on my display mfg, noise issues, and amount of bloat....
I'll most likley just buy a 7200RPM hard drive and do a clean install later.
Pasted in below my order specs is a section from an on line review of a dv6000t running XP. Will one of you running Vista see if the same folder is there? C:\swsetup?
HP Pavilion dv6000t customizable Notebook PC

HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
"The only downside of installing a retail copy of XP is hunting down the drivers for the laptop, so if you plan on doing this yourself be sure to copy or burn the C:\swsetup folder first. The swsetup folder contains all the system drivers and whatnot which need to be installed after installing a new OS. Be careful however, the bloatware is also in the swsetup folder, you will need to pick it out folder by folder, good luck. At the time I purchased the notebook came with a free upgrade to Vista, but now it is being sold pre-installed." -
Is there a different name for the dv6000t? Because i can't find it anywhere on Office Max or Best Buy and I am wondering if that is because of a different name.
-
Dv6000t is the series name, at Best Buy and Office Max you'll see the model number/name of the model as configured by HP.
For example:

My laptop shipped late and they are giving me a $50.00 coupon for it. Where do I use the coupon?
-
The HP Warranty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Hey. I'm new here, too. This site is great!
I'm looking for opinions. I am very close to making a decision on a new laptop. I have been using a Toshiba Satellite A75 for a few years now and I wanted to get something newer/faster and also smaller/lighter. I was going to go with a dv2000t or an ASUS A8JP because I really wanted a 14" screen. Today I stopped at BreastBuy and played with the shiny new HP's. I think I want to stay with the 15.4" screen and get the dv6000t now. Especially since I like to watch movies sometimes and the wide screen is great.
OK, sorry to ramble. Should I stay with the 15.4"? or go with the 14"?
Also, can you put the dv6000t on your lap without causing it to overheat? That's one thing I've always hated about my A75.
I can't decide!!Thanks.
-
As to screen, I personally would go with the 15.4. More viewing space and still got the portability.
-
What is the advantage of ordering a dv6000t with Bluetooth?
-
-
I have a blue tooth Samsung cell phone and with the supplied software on my pc I can wotk with contacts and do text messages and email using the pc keyboard. Basically it allows interaction between the phone and pc without a cord.
There are other blue tooth devices out there also. I have not heard or tried a blue tooth head set yet.
For the cost I would have it available. Otherwise if you decide to use it later you will have to pull out a BT USB dongle and plug it in before useage. -
I've had no heat issues and I often have it in my lap.

I just purchased a dv6275 last night and I LOVE it so far!! So far so good...but the resolution could have been a teeeny bit better...but its all good as I didn't want to buy the 17 incher...
Questions (please don't think I am retarded..just never owned a laptop before):
-Say I have something downloading on bittorrent (or something else), and I want to close up shop for the night...can I just close the laptop? Will it go into hibernation? Sleep?
-I did that last night (close up the laptop) and tried to wake it up this morning, but was not successful. What am I doing wrong? And will things continue to run (virus scans, downloads, etc) when you close up the notebook??
Thanks for the help guys!!
I can't wait to play with the TV tuner....looks cool..haha!
p.s. Not that I definitely need one, but I didn't find an instruction book with the laptop at all. -
Logitech now sells a bluetooth mouse. The advantage is that you don't have a dongel sticking out of your USB port. I am thinking about ordering it.

If you travel on airplanes alot I would suggest the 14in, I was just on two planes yesterday and on a large Airbus it worked, but I had to have the front of the laptop touching me to be able to see the screen, hence I was not able to type very fast. On the CJ (Smaller Jet) I could not even open the laptop completly. For a while I set the lcd on my lap and held the base vertically against me. It looked rather silly and was pretty unproductive.
Don't know if this helps, but I have been having some second thoughts about getting this large of a monitor as I fly about once per month. At home on the dinning room table or on the couch it is great. And actually it and my HP backback fit nicely under even the smallest airline seat.
I did not have any heat problems, but I was careful not to have the vent on the bottom directly on my leg or knee.
So far my only regrets have been it is a little to big and I wish I had 256mb dedicated video memory.
All in all I really like the computer. I also love Vista! It is so easy to navigate, I hit the windows key, type GI (or the first couple letters of any app, file, folder, etc) and hit enter and voila Gimp is up and running and I am working with my photos.
Matt -
Thanks Matt!
I really appreciate the reply. I don't fly much and even if I do I'm usually happy to read a book or listen to tunes on my MP3 player.
I'm getting closer to just pulling the trigger and buying the dv6000t. It is a little more than I can afford but I don't want to have to upgrade for a while so it will be worth it. -
Thanks for the detailed steps how to get rid of the bloating stuff.
Could you add one etra step for those who just want to disable the programs from automatic loading during power up?
I know how to do this in XP, but I failed to in Vista.
Thanks in advance.
