This 'coupon' looks suspiciously like BS. All HP coupons have a coupon code, this one just seems to trigger a bunch of pop-up ads and has no effect on the prices. I could be wrong though; mabye it was meant to work but has some error.

I thought the HP laptop skins were pretty cool too. The "Orange County Chopper" designs are really eye-catching! Ended up ordering the blue one today. I'll let you know how it works when it arrives in the next 5-10 days

What's the problem? If you don't want it to go to acronis, uninstall it. If you're only using one OS, why do you need it anyway?

Yes. From what I've read, you can replace the Intel core duo chip with the Intel C2D. The question is, is it worth the price? Will you see enough of a speed enhancement to justify the cost? For instance, I saw a T5600 (1.83GHz) on newegg.com for about $250.

My first post from the new lappy. Loving it so far. I am in the factory installed Vista right now but I am probably going to be doing a clean install within the next few days. Is it possible to download quicklplay from the HP site, as all of the HP programs will be deleted in the clean install. I would like to be able to have Quickplay still since it is one of the few ways to access and use the Web Cam.

Also, does the AC power cord that came with the Lappy have a surge protector? I know when you are plugged in you should always have a surge protector to prevent any mishaps.

During my first Vista boot, I was never asked by HP to make copies of the recovery partition. To do this should I just go to the recovery partition and hit burn from within Windows Explorer.

    Thanks for the help.

PS. I have the SEC screen and have no problems with it. I have the TSST optical drive which is Samsung I believe. Any word on these? Maybe sandt???

    Hi,
i have 2 questions. First i am going to update from 1gb to 2 gb of ram. They are 2 512 sticks of 667 fsb ddr2. Does this mean i have to buy 2 1gb sticks fo 667fsb ddr2? Also i am under hp's 1 year total care plan. if i open the notebook to put the new ram in, will it void the warranty or plan?
    Thanks

Nope, not using APP. :) Thanks.

After trying it out a couple of times, I came to the same conclusion. Sucky.

Cool, thanks! I assume it's only for the cover, right?

If you've got a clean install disk, there's no need for the recovery disks; just download the drivers manually and save them to a cd somewhere. In order to burn HP recovery disks, you must have the HP recovery manager. Before removing any bloatware (or doing anything to the system at all) you should burn recovery disks, unless you bought some with the PC.

AMEN brother, thats exactly what i did.

As far as the clean install, i'm looking to do the same thing. I made my 2 recovery dvd's whenever i first started er up. Now i'm just trying to learn exactly what the bloatware entails, if i can reinstall certain things that i like about it, and whether certain things are needed or not! I need a big list of what programs are being erased and whether i can reinstall them and how i go about it!

    I'M SORRY I'M A RETARD!!!!

This would be helpful for others as well (including me), since I would like to possibly keep Quicklplay and/or Roxio but would prefer a clean install. Does everything work, including webcam?

If you want to install only certain HP programs and drivers, use the installers in the C:/SWSETUP folder; you can copy this whole folder to a disk and install certain features without doing a total factory restore.

was able to to get the wirless intel pro 3945 installed, and downloaded the latest intel drivers, fixed the 3 bar wireless bar problem, signal strength...got wap2 personal encription going...though it was tough until i figured out what i was doing wrong.

Well, my first 24 hours with my new toy. I have to say it's a very nice computer, I think Vista is pretty cool overall. Fan issues? Not really, I mean I can hear it from time to time, it's not very loud at all. The high pitched sound is not there, I thought I heard it a bit when I had my ear down to the computer, nothing to complain about. I played a few pre installed games, I have to say it's pretty funny seeing how fast the cards in hearts and the poker game deal out! I have a feeling this machine can truly scream when needed. Anyway, anybody out looking for a laptop should give this baby a look!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Has anybody noticed the total video memory for the 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400 actually has 399MB allocated for graphics? 128 dedicated + 271 shared on my computer anyway.

some fan noise is normal for about all laptops, the hardware is installed in very tight places, and movement of air is necessary to keep em cool.

sure wish i could find out who made my lcd display, the instance id is not listed in the device manager pull down page, not sure if this is because of vista??

Can't miss instructions to determine your display:

Click the Start button --> Control Panel --> Hardware and Sound --> Device Manager --> View Hardware and Devices (give permission) --> double click Monitors --> double click Generic PnP Monitor --> click Details --> from the pull down menu click Hardware Ids. Mine says "Monitor\SEC3345," signifying it's a Samsung (Samsung Electronics Company or Corporation, I think). My Samsung is fine.

Even a caveman can do it!

Great system. I have similar, but no bluetooth, have tv tuner, and 160gig hard drive. System runs great. dv6375us.
Your gonna love this set up, I am overly happy. The processor doesn't run hot in ur lap, Gaming is sweet, bf2 runs sweet, along with 2142. Ripping DVD's is done with ease...

I have to agree, I bought the top of the line DV6000t and am a little dissapointed in the display. I thought it would be of higher resolution. I guess I am spoiled to seeing native 720p (VGA) and 1080p (component) output from my XBOX 360 to my LCD flat panel TV!

It's still a killer notebook by any means!

i agree ,the resoluton would be nicer to have 1280x1024... not sure why hp does not other choices on display. i quess my display is made by quanta, did not know they made lcd displays for notebooks... besides the low resolution of 1280 x 800, it does look very nice and pleasing to the eye.

The only difference I see is that the dv6375us has a 2.0GHz processor and a little higher price tag, while the dv6275us has a 1.83GHz.
