Ordered my dv6000t last night from Costco. Fully maxed out (2.0 ghz, 160gb HD, go7400, ect.) Just out of curiousity have any of you that got this unit wish they got the dv9000t instead? The big screen and graphic card (HDMI out) seemed like a nice package but battery life and size pointed me to the DV6000t although I hope I don't regret it later (being a web designer and a photoshop guy).

Hey does anyone know if I can do a reinstallation for MCE 2005 on my dv6000t?
I have read the guides posted on the forum, but they all mention XP Pro and Home editions and not mce. Does anyone have a guide to do a "clean" installation of MCE2005 without hp bloatware?

I am about to order an HP6000t ... Just wondering what you guys think.

Should I get the 1.83 GHZ C2D w/ the TV CARD
Or get the 2.0 GHZ C2D without the TV CARD?

I would say go with the 2.0ghz and the tv card, but if you cant afford it now, you can always buy it later. Go with the 2.0 ghz with no tv card. Remember you cant upgrade from 1.83 to 2.0 ghz after they make it, but you can always buy the tv card afterwards.

    Hi all,

I took back my brand new Acer Aspire 5630 and exchanged it for a HP DV6125SE Just so I could be part of the club ;-)

Originally being a MAC user for plus ten years I know quite well how to delete "bloatware." Now that I have a windows there is a slight learning curve.

What folders do you look in for bloatware to delete ? The uninstall program only lists certain programs which seems fairly straightforward, however I did a search for example AOL and found an arms length of AOL related items which I'm sure I could just drag to the trash... my concern would be using AOL as the example, what if some sort of necessary program extention / control panel had the letters aol in it too... or shares some files ?

I also would appreciate a guide or some advice on uninstalling programs...

I googled uninstall bloatware, but did not find anything usefull.

    Thanks

I asked that same question myself to Airman a few posts back. He was apparently told by an HP representative that it works with hdtv when he was ordering his laptop. :D ;) :p

Yes indeed, they told me that it would support HDTV.

Sorry I've been really busy the past couple weeks however don't fret, I will post some de-bloating guides as soon as I have a bit of time on my hands.

Hey, has anyone noticed that MCE 2005 is actually version 2002? or is it just my laptop. I thought it would be 2005, but it says 2002 Service Pack 2. Is there something I dont know :/

I was toying with buying the Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo processor T2250 (1.73 GHz)
    instead of the Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T5600 (1.83 GHz)
Is it really worth the exta $100 to get the 2 Duo processor?

I would also think that the Core Duo processor would get better battery time and cool better than the 2 Duo processor.

    Thoughts?

Yeah you'll get an upgrade to the 32 bit version of vista Home Premium. Yehaw. I'm not sure if its even worth upgrading to another 32 bit processing system. I'm still a bit confused what the big whopla is about Vista versus XP Pro/MCE.

Well all I know is that there is an option to choose 32bit or 64bit option when you set up windows vista. Also that vista prem. includes a better MCE with it that supports more hdtv options and connections! :)

ordered my dv6000t CTO through Costco on the 8th and it finally shipped out today. the estimated ship date was the 18th so i'm a little surprised it actually shipped out after and not before. usually these guys (HP, Costco, etc) under promise. no bid deal though. it's only a day. just antsy is all ;)

I'm waiting on mine from costco too. I haven't got any messages from them other then the initial order confirmation. Seems like it should be shipping to me soon since I ordered a week ago.

What do you mean "Vista has a better MCE" ? Are those two similar? I hope they include a 64bit version because I really do not see going through hassle of upgradeing to another 32bit OS

Yes, Vista home premium includes MCE. If you ordered MCE2005 and qualify for the express upgrade, you will be able to upgrade to vista home premium :)

and you might not get any tracking at all. i just checked and they still don't offer me tracking for this purchase. i thought maybe after a day it would change but there's still no option. i'm not all that worried since it's Costco but i figured i'd give you a heads up. looks like it's a race to see who gets his laptop first, lol. i have a 1-day head start ;) haha

man I hope HP support is better then Compaq support. I had to place a call to support for a dead battery on my two year old Compaq yesterday. I was on the phone with India in no time but then the guy had me go through hoops to determine if it was a fact the battery was not holding a charge. Umm battery been in computer all day (charging) and unplug AC power cord and unit shuts off. With another battery (that I borowed) worked fine like it supposed to. This guy had me update my Bios twice and other things so after an (frustrated) hour later he says "ok you need a new battery" , duhhh!! An hour of my time just to get a new battery that I still have to wait for someone to call me back to order it for me . Why can't he just order it for me then and there? WTF. How long can they stretch out an issue. Four calls later I'm now waiting on a guy to take order of the battery for me. Argg.
I'm giving my old laptop to my Dad for X-mas. Its a nice R3000 with AMD 64 3400+. Hopefully with a new battery soon.

the battery in my Compaq was the first thing to go bad. it's more than 5 years old now but i think it happened within the first couple years. that was before HP bought Compaq though so i wouldn't imagine that should be an issue i need to worry about with my presario

but don't expect HP to give you any better tech support. i've had a history with them in the past as well have many others on this board. probably not as bad as Toshiba though

I got my new Hp Pavilion Dv6000t couple of weeks ago. I love it so far.
Has any one installed Vindows vista on this laptop. If you did, can you guide me on how to get the drivers.

I installed Vista on this new laptop, it was working fine. I can't use the Aero feature b'coz the nvidia drivers are not availabe. I contacated HP, and they said that the vista drivers wont be out for this laptop unit March 2007..

when you say two days after it left china is that when you were first notified item has shipped via costco email? I got my message item shipped like two days ago, but I don't see how any thing can come from China in 2-3 days but I can only hope I get it tomorrow. dang you paid $900. You got off cheap. I ended up with a $1600 tab but I almost maxed out all options (2.0 ghz core 2 duo, 2gb ram, 160gb hd, tv tuner, 12 cell bat, ect). I hope its all worth it.

well....i think it was $975 not including the $50 rebate. i didn't get too fancy because i won't need it. the only games i'll ever play will be on my bro's 360 and i'm only a casual photoshopper so i don't need much. just wanted to make sure i was getting the most up to date processor and then some dedicated memory so i can handle vista alright. however, i'll most likely upgrade to a 7200 rpm HDD in the near future. whenever i come across a good deal.

and yeah, my laptop arrived two days after i received my email from Costco (received it tuesday the 19th). i was pretty amazed, myself. they must have parachuted the package right out of the plane from china right into the fedex truck and then no potty breaks all the way to my house, lol.

Got my dv6130 few days back. It's quite good, screen's an LPL. Vid card is the Intel in built 128 MB ram. I wanted the Nvidia, but circuit city did not seem to have any 6000s with the nvidia chip.
I have heard from some places that the nvidia is not as great as it is made out to be... since it still shares part of the mem, i dunno about this.

I have a question in case someone has tried Age of Empires 3 on te dv6000.
I tried it and the video is horribly garbled, and the games exits itself out in seconds with the usual msg about sending error rpt to microsoft etc. It's frustrating really. I have reinstalled the game, but to no avail.
Also re-installed directx 9 , but that also was not helpful..

Anwyone with any suggestions or facing a similar predicament ? Please let me know.

Just got call from my wife, my T6000 arrived this AM!!! Wow two days from China I'm impressed. Can't wait to get home to unbox my spankin laptop. So many Christmas toys to open this year. Hope it plays nicely with my soon to be in hand (x-mas gift) Creative Zen Vision M : 60gb audio/video player.
Anyone care to share their de-Bloatware experiences (what to do and what not to do ) with this model? I guess thats the first thing I'll need to do after putting the pieces together.

what screens did you guys get? LPL,SEC (samsung) or Quanta/AOU?
    Best screens by rank:
    1) Quanta/AOU
    2) LPL -Philips
    3) SEc- Samsung
    4) There is another one, but I forget the name. Anyway, the most common ones are the three. Samsung being the worst most of the times.

How you know what kind of LCD you got!
Just follow the step below and you will see an abriviation of Screen manufacturer and just google that, so here we go

    1. Right click my computer,
    2. Click property
    3. Click Hardware Tab
    4. Click Device Manager
    5. Click Monitor
    6. Under monitor you will see Plug & Play Monitor
    7. Right click and property
    8. Click on Detail tab
    9. From the drop down menu chose Device Instance ID
    10. There you should see the three or two letter abbriviation of company made that LCD.

    ok so mine says DISPLAY\LPLBC00\5&D11BBC6&0&00000118&01&00

that means I got philips then? hope thats a good thing.

Does any one know where I can find a list of all programs that are safe to remove from inside add/remove hardware. I don't want to end up removing something thats needed to run the web cam, audio or what ever that I actually will use. Oddly enough I removed all MS Office stuff but there are still icons on desktop that when clicked open up MS office startup stuff. Also I did not see any AOL remove program yet it too is on my desktop. what a pain this will be.

Yes, you got an LG philips.

As for the bloatware, I would wait until Airman posts his guide to de-bloating your computer. You can always just remove the obvious programs that you don't want.

FedEx has been great, I can tell from alot of other people's comment that their laptop shipped in two days. The same thing happened here!

has any one noticed all these files in their C:\WINDOWS\Installer directory? Are these related to MS Office trial since the short cut points to C:\WINDOWS\Installer\Office Assistant which has loader shortcuts. Can these MSI files be removed? Also what about all these "$NtUninstallKB924496$" type folders in c:windows?

the volume seems pretty decent to me. It's not car stereo loud but i can hear my music from the next room so it's seems fine to me. Perhaps adjust your volume controls.

Yeah, my volume seems fine. It works for me. I know that the volume was an issue with some reviewers, but its fine for me.
