No the GPU is fine, I was talking about the CPU temps. The GPU hovers around low 80s so that seems to be normal.
-
Yeah I mean "CPU" - confused myself for a minute - but yeah Crysis is GPU intensive not CPU intensive. I would imagine GTA IV and BC2 are more CPU intensive than Crysis.
-
My CPU temps reach 95oC under load :/
-
-
Even with a horrible ambient temp, that seems too high anyways.
-
It is now updated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I spoke to the customer service.
-
.... Where? No BIOS update on HP's website.
-
-
Did they give you a link to download it at least?
Hopefully, they won't doing something dumb like the last time they release a new major fixed bios for the 60xx.
They released to the web after a month, they preinstalled on the later customized systems. -
I've got CPU temps of 85-95C while gaming too.
Disabling Turbo Boost gets the CPU temp down to 80C with the fan spinning slower, so that might be the way to go. -
I have the dv6 - 61xx version that I got a week ago or so (customized version). Could this one have manual switching? I can go to Catalyst Center and switch from "Not Assigned" to "High Performance." For example, SCII runs so much better after setting to "High Performance." Or do I have the problem too?
-
Lol, when did this become a temperature thread?
-
mine never seems to go above ~65C
this is with WoW and just cause 2 -
Guys I talked to 2 representatives today, both told me an update was just released is that correct?
-
I looked @ the driver downloads and I haven't seen anything new. If you chat again, have them give you a link.
-
-
Seriously? That's crazy low.
-
-
not there yet. -
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53025.exe -
So will the DV6T finally be able to use the GPU for Adobe CS? From what I've read the BIOs is supposed to finally allow manual switching so that you can force the dGPU for CS, correct?
-
According to the FTP, that 53025 iit's not updated...so no, it can't be it.
-
Softpaq 53025 has been out for at least a month, and is dated back to May. It is the newest driver set that HP has officially released for the Intel HD/6770m switchable graphics, but it's not what we're looking for. The official switchable manual/dynamic release will be via a bios update, and not a driver update according to HP.
-
Sorry, I didn't mean that it was recently released, just that it's what the HP agent was referencing.
-
edit: oh i just re-read the last page. 71C is what i hit for the gpu
speedfan reports temps on the cpu around 65-67C after playing witcher 2 for a while -
If you set the laptop too "Coolest" in HP CoolSense, than the laptop will stay ALOT cooler, but it disables intel's turboboost. "Optimized" will make it run considerably warmer, but at max settings. So it's pretty much a question of what you need.

I think that coupon expired yesterday.

Hi camrads! having the same SG issue in Russia. And while waiting for the fix I want to ask a question:
I've bought my laptop in 21 july. Drivers for video from HP site were downloaded also 21 july. Now I have "ATI Technologies Inc 12.04.2011 8.830.6.2000" drivers for both graphic cards. I try to run for ex. CS 1.6 and cant choose "widescreen" or resolution higher than 1024x768.
What if I install theese old 8.15.10.2219 drivers, aparrently It must help with intel card start understand openGL, right?
Sorry for bad English, though... -
The BIOS update was supposed to maybe be released today. Fat chance. Now the rumor is end of the week.
I'll believe it when I see it. Don't waste time asking tech support. Just wait for the announcement, and if none in your 21 day return period, then request the RMA. -
It probability already been released but only on today's build orders and on.
Release to Web download might be awhile, just like the 6xxx's F.13 bios update. -
I just recieved my DV7tQE today and i have a f.17 bios installed.
-
and do u have an option in your bios to make your 6770m stay on always? -
-
it's not in the bios, it's in the catalyst control center

Can you let me know how the dv6 1920x1080 screen quality is please. Another forum member said they couldn't even read it that small and had to go to 1366x768 and that 1600x900 wasn't even there as an option. I want to run 1920x1080, but need to know if this laptop with 15" screen is too small for it. I want to buy one, but may need a 17" for 1080p clear.
-
if it's too small for you, you can turn up the DPI. so it doesn't matter
-
-
So does the updated BIOS fix the OpenGL issue?
-
I have the f.17 bios in a new system and it doesn't have any options regarding the video card.
-
-
Still no fix...
-
Edit: The bios date in cpu-z is 06/24/11. -
Dam I thought we had a fix for a second there!
-
well we still will, it just wasnt this BIOS apparently
-
well seeing as that bios was compiled last month, the fix is probably in f.18 or something like that.

AMD Catalyst? 11.1 Driver ? What?s New? | Game Blog
I know it's an old Catalyst. But it says full OpenGL support. Should we try it?
