Why do you need the dedicated GPU for firefox? Just wondering...

that looks like the morphological anti-aliasing, not a bug. turn that off in the CCC and you should be able to see clearly again.

    By default,
    layers.acceleration.disabled was false
    layers.acceleration.force-enabled was false
so I'm not sure what it was using, but when I force-enabled it looks great (fonts are very crisp).
As for MLAA, I don't see where to choose it in CCC. Any hints R3d?

You don't but firefox uses it to acceleration drawing stuff.

Plus when you put it in manual mode you can't really switch back constantly

Set it to advanced view in catalyst to find MLAA

in CCC, go to gaming->3d applications. it should be a checkbox right in front of you that says "morphological filtering". uncheck that.

I've been trying minecraft, but it keeps crashing. At one point it said the AMD driver stopped working. Am I missing something here? It works fine on the Intel.

yes all the driver are up to date this is what they say
That's weird. I also ran the Passmark Performance Test and found that the DIrectX test was about 2.3 fps but was about 6 fps when I switched to using the Intel HD Graphics. Also, I got about 16 fps using the complex but about 38 fps with the intel card. I wonder if other people are still having problems like this. I will try to reinstall my drivers to see if anything changes.

Got it working. Updated the AMD drivers. (All I had done before was the BIOS update.)

Maxed out Minecraft, running ~60fps. I am a very happy camper. Now to try my hand at overclocking. :D

So for those of you who turned on Fixed Mode...

    1) Is ~250 MB or whatever of your system RAM blocked off for use by intel graphics now?
    2) What impact (if any) does Windows claim to your battery life?
    3) If you tried switching back to Dynamic, does CCC remember your application settings for dynamic mode?

What the h*ll is going on? I install CS, then (who remembers there was a post in this thread, with link to HP drivers, that probably fix OpenGL issue) I intall theese drivers and VOILA! I CAN choose "widescreen" mode in Counter Strike. Then I restart the laptop and I CAN'T choose "widescreen" mode.

It happens even on "virgin-clean" OS. Does anybody can explain it?

To answer your question, right click on the desktop click configure switchable graphics and make sure the discrete GPU is selected.

Gothic 3 (game from 2006 year) - the same. Only 1024x768 (editing gothic.ini didn't help) and awful lags.

Hey guys, I have a few questions about switchable graphics and overclocking the GPU. I hope you guys will help me out here, I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to discrete graphics...

With the fixed graphics, does that mean that the AMD GPU is on constantly? Or can you choose which programs to use the iGPU and which ones to use the dGPU? Are there disadvantages to fixed graphics?

Yes, it's on constantly. You can't choose programs, but you can switch cards manually whenever you want.
Also you can choose if iGPU will on when you unplugged or not.

I don't know what to tell you. Did you set the aspect ratio to 16:9 in CS 1.6 - because that's the only way to select a widescreen resolution.

Are you 100% sure you applied the BIOS and AMD driver updates correctly?

I wouldn't try that in fear that it may brick the computer. The "fixed graphics mode" BIOS that has just been released is meant for Intel based notebooks... If you try to install it on an AMD one bad things may happen (or it'll say that the laptop isn't compatible and not let you even try to flash it).

But maybe in the future there'll be a fixed mode for Llano notebooks.

Woot... Dynamic/Fixed switchable graphics is now fixed. Mine works perfectly as well! You need to hit "Esc" to get into the bios to make the change to fixed mode, so you cannot go between dynamic and fixed on the fly. However, once in fixed mode, you can easily switch GPUs on the fly. Both GPUZ reporting and Overclocking now work as well!
