anyone here enable fixed mode while disabling dynamic mode in bios ?
(yeah i know, that disables dual graphics)
does reboot/shutdown still hang when you use this setup?
-
-
"hang"? usually work perfectly fine even with dynamic enabled in bios though. As long as I don't switch gpu(staying in fixed). Doesn't it only hang after switch?
Edit: or you mean after switch? Not sure then. -
Black scren after halh an hour ! & now ????
Will I lose the warranty if I remove the CMOS battery ? -
Hey baiii, no OCs ...
I'm using that BIOS you posted on page 3 that suposedly doesn't have any OC...there's no 780-800 in file's name.
How do i check if my 6750 is overclocked ?
Thank you!
And 12345fd, im having the same problem... foda pa caralho isso pqp -
I´m bringing the machine back for refund today, after 6 days !
I bought it because of the Radeon 6570 & because I already had a Pavilion DV6 3240 br wich was fantastic, now out of stock.
That´s a rip off HP ! -
im keeping mine.. besides the 6750 issue im happy with it, and im sure i'll solve it soon
-
what about cpu oc? bf3 is almost unplayable at stock clock ? cause it sound like thermal shutdown then bios lockup.
Usually when OC or graphic fail, you see a white/black artifact screen with buzz sound. -
yesterday there was a black/white striped screen when it crashed..
but cpu clock is stock, and accordingly to you that BIOS doesn't overclock the graphic card...
is it possible its having thermal shutdowns even having every clock stock ?
im lost here baiiii... i was loving the modded bios with fixed graphic.. but having to flash the bios every 3 hours is crazy -
how does it run on dynamic? stock clock probably wont make thermal shutdown.
-
what do you mean by how ? i mean, it runs... but not nearly as good as fixed
-
yeah, i mean after switching during the same windows session.
probably means, does it run without crashing or lockups in dynamic mode...
if you have a 2nd monitor, you can run Hwinfo64 and monitor clocks and temps while you're playing games. -
link, it doesn't crash in dynamic mode, but the performance is lousy compared with fixed..
all my clocks are stock... today when i crashed i was at 75c...
i just want it to work -
oh please somedoby help me... i dont wanna be removing the CMOS battery every couple hours.. i know somebody more experienced will know what to do
i beg -
please guys.. im going nuts over this...
-
why don't you just turn it back to dynamic mode and do without the fixed mode, since that doesn't crash.
there shouldn't be a huge difference between fixed mode and dynamic mode performance, because in dynamic mode, games use the full power of the dgpu, so any perceived performance gain is probably just placebo. -
link its a HUGE differnce between dynamic and fixed...
for some reason the iGPU slows down the computer performance on bf3.. even when crossfire is disabled..
NOW A BIGGER PROBLEM GUYS...
THE BIOS WON'T RESET... EVEN AFTER REMOVING CMOS BATTERY..
the computer crashes, i reset and get blinking caps... ai remove cmos battery for a while
and then when i turn the computer on, the modded bios is still there..
now im freaking out haha please help! -
removing cmos bios don't remove mod bios, it only reset it. Just flash a normal one if you want.
-
baiiii, every time i removed CMOS battery the bios went back to the original, now it wont go...
-
Do you have the HP TOOLS renamed? when i do cmos reset ,all it does is reset option to default.
-
oh man jesus im going crazy with this sh!t...
im starting to think the error is on BF3... then it crashes and my bios brick because of that...
i have blinking caps only when i crash on BF3... during counter-strike or using the laptop for anything else, it doesnt crash -
I wish someone could do that for HP ProBook 4535s too.
If I choose High-Performance it will still use the IGP in DX9 and other Applications aside of DX10/11 Dual Graphics.
-
Does this work on with the newest bios?
-
How do you unlock amd overdrive in CCC ?
I read somewhere that amd overdrive can fix idle sticky clock -
opabarbosa, im from BRazil as well and want to know what have u done to make 6170br playable with bf3.
could not understand the posts.
Hope to Hear from you,
ABRAÇOS
Marcelo -
Hey marcelo,
good to see another brazilian around here...
i've been playing bf3 for a while now on my 6170br however the FPS are not that great...
the biggest problem i have with BF3 are the inumerous crashes i get..
sometimes i play for 10 hours crash free... other times i can't play more then 5 minuts without crashing..
send me a private message and i'll explain step by step in portuguese how to run bf3
abração -
I have a big problem, I don't know what is wrong. When i chose the "fixed mode" everything looks slow really slow, but when I chose the dynamic mode, everything returns to be fluid. Why is happening this?
Saludos desde Chile
-
after u chose fixed mode, have you switch to "High-Performance Graphic" in Vision center?
-
yep. i do. I have the problem only when i chose the 6750m

Hi, I'm getting ready to do the Unlock Fixed/Dynamic Switchable Graphics mod on my dv6z 6135dx. I have Camolils Bios update file sp54724_NWL_UlkMenus_Fantrip_ByCamiloml if I understand correctly this is w/o the OC mods.I have read your post and many others that have varying degrees of success with this and have a couple of questions. My situation is just a bit different than one who has just purchased the notebook and gone through HTWingnuts optimization procedure (very well written I must say) I have already done all of my APU oc testing and such, updated my display drivers to AMD's 12.1a release and was getting ready to begin the Graphics oc testing. I thought perhaps it may be better to get this bios upate mod done before going any further.I currently have the F21 stock bios installed. I have read many of the posts in this thread and others concerning the various problems people have had with this bios update. So, being what it is and at the place I'm at in this procedure do you have any other suggestions beyond what you have already posted on how I may do this bios update mod with the least amount of potential problems. Thanks in advance for any advice that you may have.
-
i will answer the previous few questions.
@chureniacko- your dgpu clocks are stuck at idle speed. that's why it's so slow.
With the release of 12.7 beta catalyst driver, you don't need fixed mode anymore.
All games will run on whatever gpu you tell it to run, without the need to manually switch -
This sounded good and I tried it and was unable to get any of the catalyst driver updates beyond 12.1 to load and run on this dv6z 6135dx. Had the same problem with all of the updates. The update would load with apparently no problems but upon reboot all I would get is a black screen immediately following the windows startup screen. The only way to recover was to go to a previous restore point.Any news on why none of the updates beyond 12.1 won't work with this notebook? What I'm trying to do is find the easiest and safest way to select the discrete 6750m graphics card for gaming. At this point it appears that a questionable bios update that seems to have hit or miss results from what I've been reading in the forums.
-
12.7 catalyst should work with the original factory bios.
-
I've been having some problems ever since installing this bios (The standard clock version) such as BSOD (USB_Debug_Error?), Brightness keys and Audio keys not working, problems with my trackpad, and system lock ups. I was wondering how the proper way to uninstall this bios and reinstall the default f.21 bios would be. Any guidance would be appreciated, thanks. I should also mention I'm using the HP DV6-6135dx.
-
Download f.21 from HP and just run it.
-
I tried that but I'm still having some problems, mainly with whenever I put my computer to sleep or close the lid upon resume I can't type in my password, I can select the field but I cannot enter text, I should also mention my fingerprint scanner does not flash or respond. And about 10 seconds after this my computer locks up and I most hold the power button to shut it off. Any suggestions?
-
Also, I had to rename my recovery partition as someone stated in one of these earlier pages, and now I can't use it to restore back to factory condition? (Disabled: Recovery Partition is removed). The partition is still there under computer I just can't use it anymore?
-
Go into the bios screen and do reset to default? See if that helps , make sure you are on f.21 with no advanced menu unlocked.
Which partition you renamed? recovery or HP_TOOLS. -
Alright, I'll go ahead and try reseting bios to default. And I renamed HP_TOOLS to Backup in order to install the unlocked bios previously.
-
You can still use the HP recovery for windows restore by pressing the whatever f-something button.
-
I tried that earlier and it wouldn't let me, it was saying something like no disk images were found. Even while I had my Restore disk in.
?
-
I am not really sure on how the recovery work since I did clean install ~~, did reset to default help on the freeze problem?
-
Resetting the bios to default I believe did fix the log on screen freezing issue, at least for now. Still hoping to figure out how to get the recovery partition working again, it would be nice to feel safe knowing I have a back up if everything goes to hell..
-
Well guys, I've been waiting awhile for this to be sorted out, but I decided to see if I could gather some more info about this predicament we all seem to be in.
-
The OpenGL thing is supposedly fixed in Catalyst 12.7, so it's a non-issue now.
-
A lot of you guys have said that things were fixed in the 12.7 beta (and later) updates... does that mean that the custom BIOS and staying on Catalyst 12.1 is no longer necessary? Sorry for the noob question.
-
Sorry for the bump, but again, I ask: is this whole custom bios thing necessary? I'm trying to update to windows 8 but I'm getting freezes at the same point every attempt during installation and I think it's related to the bios...
-
necessary for what? fixed mode -> yes/no, whitelist removal -> yes, anything else-> no
-
Hmm. Well I tried installing W8 with both the stock and modded bios's and got the same issue every time. Do you think it's due to hardware compatibility problems? Because I thought W8 was suppose to be able to run on every Windows 7 machine.
-
try the bios update thing from HP if your machine have that. I had not try win8 yet
-
I just flashed the BIOS straight off of HP's site so I'm sure I've got the most recent version of it. I found this article about problems upgrading to Windows 8 because of BIOS issues and I'm now trying to figure out if there is a way to change Physical Address Extension (PAE), NX, and SSE2 (or any of those, lol) just in case it's related. I wonder if it's possible to remove the HDD and install windows on it with a different computer? Or I could try creating a separate partition and try install via CD.
