that doesn't make sense, why would it be only available on the 1st run? so no more laptop will have the 3530 for now?

Sounds like it. Not a big deal though, only 0.1GHz difference at bottom and top speed (3530MX = 1900-2600MHz, 3510MX = 1800-2500MHz). And both clock the same with K10stat, so there's really no concern. I'm sure those that have the 3530mx if they had known this before buying, which they didn't because nobody had tested it by that point, I'm sure would have just saved the $25 and got the 3510MX.

Yeah, seeratlas what was the best price you saw? Im going to look at a DV6Z with 6755 and 3530 for 799.99 at future shop tomorrow. However, I want the best price possible :p

    Thanks Iamwithstupid11

I am currently running these settings on my laptop with the 3530mx

    stable MHZ voltage
    B0 2800 1.2125
    P0 2400 1.0875
    P1 2200 1.0375
    P2 2000 0.9750
    P3 1800 0.9250
    P4 1600 0.8625
    P5 1400 0.8250
    P6 800 0.700

On battery 'low power settings', I am getting around 4-5 hours on a 6cell battery... which I think is great!!
Also the volt reductions are around the 10-20c cooler!!

Does anyone know how i can overclock my videocard? And what speed can the 6750M go to safely?

that was the best price I saw, but you need to check Hp canada. don't know whether they have a coupon up there or not. compare equip with the hp options, i.e. 1080p screen, blu ray, 640//7200 drive (the fastest of the ones offered) 6gigs of ram, bluetooth etc.

    enjoy :)

get Saphire Trixx, and msi afterburner utilities. on Trixx, go to the settings and at the bottom click the ulps entry to turn it off, restart and u can use either trixx or afterburner to overclock :) be sure and customize your fan profile.

some have gotten as high as 850/950 on the 6570. on mine about 792/858 is about as good as she goes. :(

HP's Canadian website does not allow customization, and they do not sell the dv6z direct through their website :(

The $50 off sale ends tomorrow, so I might as well pick one up today, test it to make sure I am happy with it, or return it if I am not.

EDIT : In post above me, you mean 6750 not 6570 correct ???

Just tried doing a 3d06 bench on battery mode vs plugged in
    stock clocks.

    plugged in : 8504
    on battery : 6503

Definitively a big drop but still performs commendably.

I'm still trying to figure out the whole kstat overclock thing. I want to bring the max clock from 2.6 to 3.0ghz.

EDIT: OK so I set it at 2.8ghz @ 1.1825V and hit a highest 3d06 of 9886 :D Max load temp of 82 a little risky tho.
    Now for GPU time.

Just want to add (this was in other thread too lol but im excited) that I am using this setup

    2.8ghz @ 1.1875
    6750 at 780/1000

Hit 10,876 3Dmark06. Pretty impressive eh ? :p How do I get the msi afterburner sliders to go past 780/1040 ?

    Hey guys,
Just read though all 17 pages and it really helped me decide on getting this lappy. Im going to be ordering this from the HP site with these specs..

    dark umber
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    AMD Quad-Core A8-3510MX Accelerated Processor (2.5GHz/1.8GHz, 4MB L2 Cache)
    1GB GDDR5 Radeon(TM) HD Dual Graphics [HDMI, VGA] (6755G2)
FREE Upgrade to 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
640GB 5400RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    9 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
15.6" diagonal High Definition LED HP Brightview Display (1366x768)
FREE Upgrade to Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner

I did have the 640GB 7.2k HDD picked when i first looked at it but they removed it as an option a few days ago... with that current config it will be $758.15 USD (before tax and shipping). Im hopping that nothing else changes in the 2 weeks before i order it (waiting on student loan money). Til then, i have 2 questions...

    1. i see you are getting 4-5hrs with the 6cell batteries, anyone have a 9 cell?
    2. the only games i really see playing are SC II, L4D2 and maybe Diablo III when it comes out (I have a gameing desktop, so this will be rare) but theres really one game that im curious about... has anyone played Rift on it?

can you completely disable the A8 integrated 6620 graphics in the device management console with this notebook so it runs on the discrete graphics alone?

I dunno what I'm going to do. Probably keep the HP mainly because I already started hacking it up to improve cooling. Although I can get the parts replaced fairly cheaply if I still wanted to return it. Or sell it since I got a good deal on it and come close to making money back.

K53TA seems unavailable though, and unless Best Buy will ship to store from outside their normal 100 miles I won't have a chance.

I like the HP a lot actually, just the games I want to play, Bad Company 2, Starcraft 2 and soon Battlefield 3, tax the CPU and GPU to the limit causing heat issue. Otherwise other games it runs cool.

Well, need to correct myself. With my latest configuration I've now found 3.0 stable. It's beginning to get warm, but the stability issues are gone.

    Seer

I have the 640 7200rpm drive and its pretty fast. Bursts 109-127megs a sec.. No noise at all. I did the two battery deal and got both the stock 6cell and 9 cell. To tell you the truth I prefer the 9 cell because the bottom 'bump' 1. gives the keyboard a better typing angle, and 2. increases airflow so better cooling.. The 9 cell is almost twice the amp/hours of the std. six cell...very cool.

Edit: hahah just saw your interest in rift. Yes I have rift and it runs great. you're talking upwards of 38fps on Ultra minus shadows and darn, I keep forgetting what other setting I turn down..In any event, it runs just fine and VERY pretty. No problems at all on mine. By 'upwards' , I have seen 50 plus fps in some places, but always 35 plus everywhere else, even in a big rift fight.

Hi to everyone, hope you can help me.
In Russia we have in stock only HD6755g2 from HP working on A6-3410MX. Should I buy it with price tag on 720USD, or better will be acer (Core I5/ GT540m DDR3)?
HP better with metal body and good speakers, but in tests processor it's pretty slow compare to I5. On notebookcheck more FPS in Mafia 2, BC2, FIFA11 and others on configuration A6/6755g2, but in 3dmark much faster GT540, may be it some driver issues?
So, which one is faster in games? I've got playstation3, but in my country PC games mu-u-u-ch more cheaper.

Killer, the notebookcheck and anandtech and all the other reviews do NOT take into account that the HPDv6z cpu and dedicated graphics are unlocked and thus both overclockable and undervoltable. When 'tuned' up the Dv6z is very fast in dx10 and dx11 games and pretty swift in dx9 games.

Take the time to read this thread and the last 40 pages or so of the Dv6z LLano owners lounge thread in this same forum :)

Thnx, acer looks very cheap anyway.

Also, for 2.4 ghz TurboCore as a default processor frequency i should switch off this parameter in bios and edit FSB settings, yes? And when i changed FSB, will be changed all 4 cores to 2.4 ghz or only two, as turbocore works?

Thanks, i will read it now :)
At notebookcheck without overclocking A6/6755g2 faster than I5/gt540 about 5-10 FPS, what was surprisingly for me.
Oh, very good news about overclocking.

P.S. Yeah, 2 years when I was 12-13 years old went to an English school, now I can watch movies or play games without our idiotic translation. But I've never talked to real peoples from US or England, only once in our metro some drunk black guy from Chicago :)

You overclock with a program called K10stat, it's a program that runs in Windows that changes the frequency of the APU, the HP BIOS doesn't have anything that allows your to alter CPU parameters such as FSB. In K10stat the P0 state is your normal max speed (the one you want to change to 2.4Ghz), and the B0 state is its turbo, which you can change to something even higher. I chose to set it to the same as my P0 state because the APU rarely, rarely turbo automatically.

Hate to be the noob but....the only stupid questions are ones not asked.
HTWingNut, you seem to be the authority here on this. I just bought one of those Canadian 3530mx dv6's.

Im normally an intel man but wanted to game at a good price (529 new egg) i have been reading about the overclocking and have done it. Im running the following set-up:
    I followed your guide
set k10 up per screen shot
    run hell test
    checked temps
    all seems stable

I'm wondering about what other tweaks I can do to improve overall performance, battery life and graphics.

Hey I'm new to these forums. I purchased one DV6z-qe for my GF with the AMD 3530MX but no the additional GPU.

I liked it so much that I've decided to buy another for myself, I do business trips and would like to use it to replace my Sony Vaio full size laptop. The HP website is only offering the 3520M with DDR3-1333 and no discrete add on. Did they want to completely destroy the model line?

Does anyone know if their going to offer the 3530MX with DDR3-1600 and discrete GPU add-on anytime soon? Is there any manufacturer that offers a comparable product with those components?

    Ordering from the USA section.

I think I just found an interesting problem. Before it kept trying to say I was in CA, now that I forced it to say I'm in USA it shows more options.

A8-3550MX and dedicated GPU show up.

    This is getting crazy...

Got a question. The 4 and 8 GB kits from the HP website, are they DDR3-1333 or DDR3-1600?

Should I get the single channel 4GB to minimize price and buy a 2x4GB DDR3-1600 memory kit? Or should the 8GB option be enough?

They are 1333MHz RAM kits unless otherwise specified. If it costs more than $40 just get whatever comes free and buy the 1600MHz RAM yourself. You can find 8GB 1600MHz RAM kits for < $50.

Thanks HT, that was what I was planning on doing. The earlier one I got only had DDR3-1333, was hoping HP might of changed it up, should of known better.

Now for the big question, is it worth getting the discrete GPU and 1920 LCD screen? I'm eyeballing the price and really wanting to keep it low, the whole idea was for a cheap easy to carry laptop that would play games decently well.

The dGPU worth every penny if you do any kind of gaming. The 1080p screen can be subjective, I would say depends if you have other device for multimedia.(say a desktop or TV or external display and how often you work on your laptop screen.)

Edit: Keep any aftermarket upgrade option @ default (Ram, HDD), battery depends.

Well, 1080p screen is personal preference. I like it because I like lots of desktop space (pixels) to work with. But if it's primarily for web browsing, basic stuff, 1366x768 runs great. Plus gamesg will run at high FPS at native 1366x768 resolution. You can run games at a reduced resolution on the 1080p screen but it won't look as crisp. Also the 1080p screen has excellent contrast, brightness, viewing angles, and is matte! My preference altogether. Just it can struggle at 1080p at times with games, but with tweaks and overclock so far it's run fairly well.

Basically, if going with the APU only then use 1366x768 for gaming. If going with the dGPU then use 1920x1080 for gaming.

This is primary a mobile work / gaming box for when I have to travel for business or leisure. I'm using a 17 inch Sony Vaio and it's getting too big to be lugging around through air ports and at hotels.
