Hey guys so I have been able to successfully install my new WUXGA screen that was the Samsung LTN154U. However, I am a little disappointed with two things. First, my screen before had a glossy finish and now my new one has a matte finish. To me I have found that the glossy screens seem to look more crisp, do you guys have the same opinion? Second, the screen is not as bright, i finally found some stats today and the new screen now has a lumins rating of 175, while my old one had a rating of 200.
I was looking to actually changing over to the LG Phillip LP154WU1 screen. To those who have upgraded their LCD panel to an LG Phillips is your screen have a matte or glossy finish. Second, on the www.smartmicrousa.com website for the LG Phillips screens, does anyone have any idea which specific version i should go with? There are about 10 different versions so just trying to figure out if i should go with one that starts with (A1) or one that starts with the (TL) model name. I would appreciate any feedback that you guys may have. Thanks.

yeah, this part is up for grabs.... but you want to specifiy that you want the glossy screen. and you also want to try to look on the net for the spec's of the potential screen your trying to get. i think mine is 260 nits, but it's not for certain. and yes, i love my lg screen!

    Little topic bump...

In your opinion, is this new LG panel just as sharp/bright/colorful as the stock unit or better?

I'm about to buy the panel and as much as I want the 1920x1200 res, I don't wanna downgrade in quality.

    it's better.
and u can take your laptop to any store and see for yourself.

also, make sure you use digital vibrance to in enhance your screens colors. this works wonders with stock screens as well.

Just wanted to update everyone that I finished installing the LG panel that johnksss used on my DV9548US notebook. Works and looks great, very happy with the increased space. The quality between the two also seems to be about the same, maybe I just can see the difference, but definitely not a downgrade.

I was able to pick this panel up off eBay for $260.

now go to digital vibrance and increase it to some like 70 to 76 and then look at the screen again.

Hi, just wondering, were you able to find the LP154WU1 screen in glossy format? I can only find it in matte everywhere, including ebay. I'm probably going to settle for matte unless I find some sources for the same display in glossy finish somewhere soon.

    Thanks for any thoughts.

I just searched for LGLP171WU3(TL)(A3) on eBay and bought that model, and it was glossy.

At first I couldn't find it, but after I emailed a seller on eBay called Bliss Computers, they then added an auction for that model, so I snagged it.

Oh sorry, I didn't realise the thread was about 17" screens.

Yes indeed the LP154WU1 is a 15.4" screen, in WUXGA. A few users on mac forums have installed it (in matte version) in their MBPs, and I'm going to install the same screen in my Dell M1530 if possible... but from all reports, there isn't a glossy version floating around. Weird that they would offer it for 17" and not 15.4" though.

Thanks anyway, I'll butt out of your thread.
