hey guys i was talking to an hp operator about the brightness problem on dv5t
and she said to install this drivers, here is the link, I haven't install this drivers yet but for those that have windows xp you won't loose anything trying this out. According the the operator the brightness problem might be a chipset driver not install or not compatible. give this one a try.
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2991
choose your operating system once you have either copy or click on the link
and start installing drivers. She did not specified which drivers to install but hey give it a try.
IF this works by any chance please let us know immediately!!!!! -
that is for the integrated video driver...we have dedicated nvidia ones...
just tried to install and says i don't meet hardware requirements so doesn't work -
try out this driver it might help the brightness DV5T

yea it's very frustrating...i am contemplating going to vista too cause i can't get brightness fixed. main reason to have a laptop over desktop is that it's portable but when you barely have any battery life cause of brightness it's basically a desktop now

Hey guys,
I have managed to get EVERYTHING installed correctly in system manager if anyone needs a driver just ask... But i still have three problems... The Dim problem but that everyone has... The mute button does´nt change color and i have a problem with the microfone i cannot record anything when i try all you hear is noise... Can anyone try this out and confirm it ? Or if anyone knows the solution for this problem please let me know.
Thanks -
have anybody try calling hp or chat with an operator for further information on how to get the brightness fixed. I did it 2 times and i got different answers with different links to drivers. One thing i notice while using vista, when i formatted my computer, and had no drivers installed, the brightness was not working at that moment. After i installed some drivers it was working. My point is, the driver should be at swsetup when using vista. I dont know if this helps but is just something that crossed my mind.

could somebody please upload a directory
under this step
18.Manually install drivers for:
HP Integrated Module (bluetooth)
Multimedia Controller (TV tuner)
Audio device on HDA Bus (HDMI Audio)
by selecting "Install from specific location (advanced)" then "search for best driver" in DVD. Insert a DVD that contains the "swsetup" directory.
could somebody
upload the
"swsetup" directory. ?????????????? thanks -
you should have read the instructions and made a backup of swsetup directory yourself lol search forums some pple have posted it
-
If u didn't backup the swsetup folder, all required drivers and software should be available from HPs site under Vista drivers section for your specific laptop model.

Brightness fix:
As mentioned here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=3927262&postcount=114
via this thread:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=281286
download the rar file and unrar. Right click the inf file and choose "install" brightness Fn buttons will work straight away, no reboot required.
Most Fn buttons and the touch media buttons work without QLB installed. Fn-f5 standby seems buggy. Upon first startup is takes a while for this hotkey combo to function. Repeated times are faster. Have not tested with QLB software installed to see if that makes a difference.
Only things now not working correctly are the IR remote and HDMI audio (no biggies for me).
Has anyone found any working HP software for XP that protects the HDD like ProtectStore? -
doesn't work for me...can you please tell me what QLB version and nvidia version drivers you have installed?
-
downgraded nvidia drivers, removed QLB software, tried new QLB software, tried combination of everything nothing works
-
Currently running 177.92 nVidia drivers from laptopvideo2go.com. I do not have any QBL, QP or QT software installed. Sorry, cannot help further as I do not know what that inf file did lol.
-
did you have them previously installed then uninstalled?
-
didnt work for me either
-
could somebody look at the picture i posted underneeth and tell me what driver i am missing??
for some reason i had two audio diver with the same name after installing the audio driver one of them is still with a question mark
thanks for any pointers
http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb216/robysch22/HP/missingdriv.jpg -
still can't get brightness
-
unknown00
do you know what the drivers are that i am missing? -
no...audio bus is nvidia just google it i found it on this forum somewhere. follow the walkthrough on page1 it's all there
-
No, I did not have the QLB software previously installed. I have since installed the latest version, and my brightness still functions correctly. I dunno why it's not working for anyone else. Pretty strange, should all be the same hardware. What screen res do you have? I have 1280x800 as that's the only option. Wonder if the 1650 screens have a slightly different hardware design or something? Perhaps try to contact the person who posted the rar file to find out more or where it came from.
-
thanks for your help unknown00
have 3* BASE SYSTEM DEVICE left
and one USB DEVICE
does anybody know what they are
if they are the drivers from the recovery disks...???? could somebody post them?? thanks -
i would contact the initial poster but i think he just came, posted, and that's it -
I'm running 9.0.0.1008 of the chipset driver.

@ joshua wood
i know it is a lot to ask but is it possible to use the software (down there)
to back up your drivers compress it and share them with us??
DriverBackup!
DriverBackup! copies the installed drivers in your Windows system and recreates the INF files needed so that they can be reinstalled in Windows in the future. It extracts both Microsoft and non-Microsoft drivers. The software is released under the GNU General Public License, which means it is both free and open source. Note that the drivers are packed in a RAR archive format. You may need to get one of the Free File Archivers and File Compression Utilities to extract them (if you don't already have one). In addition, it requires the MSCOMCTL.OCX to be installed on your system. If you get an error message asking for MSCOMCTL.OCX, search for it with Google - it is freely available in many places (it's a redistributable component of Visual Basic from Microsoft that programmers ship with their programs).

I can't sorry as my internet is very limited in what I can do (regarding data usage). However, everything you should need is linked to in one of my posts on the first page, or is obtainable from HP's site. I will update post 1 now with my latest details.
