Mine is still 'pending' and listed as temp. Hasnt charged yet - though the laptop showed up yesterday...
On that same note, I got home today to open the box and get'er runnin...Oh man this is a great laptop. It's better than I imagined! Only 3-4 dead pixels which you really have to be looking specifically for to notice and everything else is as expected.
-
But at any rate, The wait was worth it. This thing is a darn tank and runs everything with blazing quickness. I really love it. -
you already do a clean install?
Mine was chugging for the first hour I'm guessing for it to finish up whatever scripts were running. It is quite quick now - though I plan on doing a clean install tomorrow morning. -
i'm doing a clean install the second i get it...they do ship cd's with it, dont' they? also...i read in vista basic you can somehow turn on the aero animation..is that safe? are there any side effects?
-
So obviously create that first and then do the clean install. -
hmm..can it fit on one cd? or am i regretting not getting a dvd burner at this point in time?
-
It looks like multiple discs... -
whats the point in the back up discs? isn't the whole point to just make a start up disc and install the OS over again because you don't want anything else on the computer? am i missing something....sorry if this is a newb Q.
-
If there is some chance that you may want to restinstall to factory default, these discs can do that...The only reason I can think of is the small chance that I may sell the laptop a year or two from now. Other than that, they will be collecting dust in my file cabinet. -
To those who ordered their laptops with the free ground shipping, how many days did it take from the day you recieved the shipping notification to reach your door?
-
HHAHAHAHAHA.. Good news for me. Sad news for you all. Cheers!

Received my X61 today! the funny thing with those pricks at UPS is that they always lie about making a false '1st attempt to deliver' my package. I called them, told them that i know of this scheming practice they run. And that someone was at home and nobody rung or knocked on the door (no notice on my screen door). Within an hour they delivered it for 'real'.

See post #69 for my specs. -
I ended up reordering my T61p since I forgot to get MS Office 2007 on it. My new order went in today but could only get the WUXGA display. They said there is no option for the WSXGA display even though I told them its on the website. Oh well, it only cost me $60 more but sounds like the WSXGA is better for the 15" display. Est ship date is now 10/4

Called, all I got was in process! -

After kicking myself for not ordering the 14" standard by 8/31 at midnight, I decided on another system and managed to get an extra 10% with my EPP. Essentially I got the great 25% discount, with an overlay of my EPP, and another 10% from the EPP. Bought this for my mother as a Birthday gift and I know she'll be thrilled. She essentially uses for internet only.
Date ordered: 9/1/2007 (Saturday)
Shipped: 9/5/2007 (Wednesday!)
Coupon used: 10% layered on top of my EPP
System ordered:
T61
15" WSXGA+
Vista Home Basic (maybe should have gone with XP)
T7100
GMAX3100
2GB RAM
No fingerprint reader
80GB 5400rpm
DVD Recorder
Multi-card reader
IntelPro 3945ABG
6 Cell Batt
Total price (before Calif tax) $913.77, which I consider a complete bargain, especially compared to what I paid a year ago for my T60. It's just not old enough for me to get another yet.
Note: I did not add the 3yr on-site warranty and will make her buy that herself if she wants itI'll give her the fair warning that I've always used it with every laptop I've had from them.
It looks like it's on its way to Ontario, CA from Hong Kong now. Customs will hold it a day so I probably won't see it until Monday or Tuesday, that's okay.
Here is what I am amazed at, and I'd appreciate it if someone could add to this. I remember about a year ago (and before) you could pick from laptops in a long list from the tabook.pdf, and that included models that already had 3-year warranties, DVD Burners, etc. Pricing had to be carefully analyzed among them because some with 3-year warranties and DVD burners were actually cheaper (with EPP) than other models within the tabook. My 2 questions are:
1. Why can we no longer see the tabook models with the "Your Price" in list with the ability to order online? I don't believe these could be customized. I'm assuming we can call and get them with whatever special pricing and coupons exist at the time, but what a pain to not know pricing up-front and having to ask many questions. Some end-retailers have excellent priced end-models, including 3-year, sometimes cheaper than configuring. Why wouldn't Lenovo PREFER we order a "stock" model which will ship quicker (not necessarily after my experience) and save them significantly on labor costs?
2. How in the world is Lenovo able to ship products so quickly that are customized? On my model I added 1G of RAM, downgraded to Vista Home Basic, got the 80GB hard drive, and deleted the fingerprint reader. Are they literally in pieces waiting for the orders to come in and does someone pull a hard drive from bin "A", monitor from bin "D", and insert the proper amount of RAM?
I know I've waited much longer than this for Thinkpads in the past - and shipping certainly wasn't the problem.
I haven't looked to see what keyboard she has received yet, but just went through a debacle myself with warrantee replacement keyboards. The first one they sent was far too stiff. The second (which they did find a second FRU in Atlanta) is like my first, the Chicory (sp) or something spelled similarly.
Sorry for the long post, but thought I'd contribute my experience as well. -
If they have the hardware in stock, it doesnt surprise me how fast they can push it out...
Have funsounds like a great purchase!
-
Probably one of the few that ordered an XGA. Ordered on 8/29. Shipped on 9/4. Supposed to recieve on 9/6.
-
I talked to customer service...they told me mine won't ship til the 27th of Sept...
anyone ordered a X61 on the 3rd? just wondering I'm about to cancel and go get one on ebay for 1049....same specs I ordered T7100 2 GB 80 GB HD but instead of a 8 cell it's a 4 cell.......should I wait or cancel?
-
Ask the guy on ebay to send you serial number and part number so that you can look up the warranty. If the warranty checks out and the product is BRAND NEW GO for it. If you can't look up warranty be aware that it could be months old.
-
-
Ebay always scares the crap out of me with electronic purchases, but the good thing is that this ebay laptop is that it's brand new(right?) and it sounds like it is still in warranty, so if something should go wrong out of the box it will be replaced under warranty from IBM.
I'm sure you've looked pretty good on the internet for the X61s, trying to get a good price, sometimes people forget to check craigslist.org, maybe that would be worth a shot for you. -
I looked on craigslist but there's none in my city....even not in Orlando.....the seller is a powerseller....and people have bought laptops off of him before...I looked up the part number and serial and looks legit......well I'm paying thru paypal with my AMEX so if anything goes wrong....I know I'm protected....I never pay thru paypal alone.
-
My package was rescheduled (?) and has been stuck in china...
-
Powerseller is a good good thing. Looks like you found a good deal man.
-
When I'll receive it, no body knows.
It has gone from Hong Kong to Canada--Twice?!
BTW, its destination is California, so, It's only natural that it ends up in Alaska

Called 9/6 AM and got a helpful supervisor. Order confirmed sent to factory. Stated a 21 day backlog on the LCD screen because of stock issues. For what its worthasked to speak to his supervisor to express my sincere delight in the great quality in Customer Service. Got him and went on and on, then asked if anything could be done - " NO"!
Few days - will try reverse - complain my way up the line.
No big deal but I see others with the same config shipped. -
Does this mean my package is going in circles on conveyor belt?

What could be the hold up?
Edit: this is a T61P -
(Posted on the other thread too, though I guess I should have posted here since I ordered my T61p during the Labor Day sale.)
Ordered: September 4th
Estimated shipping date: September 20th
Actual ship date: Sept 7th!
It's now being held in CA for "reasons beyond UPS control" awaiting clearance.
Specs:
Thinkpad T61p
Intel Core 2 Duo T7300
14.1" SXGA+
2GB RAM
160GB 5400rpm hard drive
NVIDIOA Quadro FX 570M (128MB)
9-cell Li-Ion battery
Inter PRO Wireless 3945ABG
Windows XP Professional
Total: $1378.66 + $122.69 tax
I had asked for ground shipping, but it looks like they sent it via 2-day UPS anyway. Can't wait to get my hands on it
-K -
what could be the hold up? it hasnt even been 1 full week.
i've been waiting since 8/12, and there are several people who ordered in july and have yet to receive anything. -
So is anyone who ordered a WUXGA screen on their T61p getting their computers yet?
Just wondering. I ordered 9/4 with a WSXGA screen (ESD 9/21), then realized I needed Microsoft Office, cancelled order (took them a day to do it)and reordered on 9/6, except they said only the WUXGA was available (I think they were giving me a federal discount when I asked if I could have the Labor Day discount, ended costing me $60 more). So that may be the reason why. Anyway, my new ESD is Oct 9th.
-
-
haha..looks like they CAN push orders through, hence getting a ship notice after kissing major a$$ to the supervisor
another thing i noticed was that people go live in the midwest get SCREWED. the customs service there is $hit.....east and west coast people get it almost within 2 days while those in midweste have to wait around 7 days.....
damn lazy Kentuckians customs -
In case anyone's interested, I got the following components:
42T0422 42T0423 15.4 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU YES
42T3177 42T3209 KEYBOARD FRU YES
According to other posts on this forum, this is the LG display and the Alps keyboard. -
if not, who was it you spoke to, and do you have a number we can reach him?

pretty cool
but i'm freaking out because my order page doesn't list my processor T7300 as configured, my screen type (with ultraconnect 2x3)
i'm afraid that lenovo didn't get these configurations and sent me a normal xga and a t7100 processor.... could this be possible or am i just freaking out??
