Correct me if i'm wrong, but the Y410P is only availible in America (US/Canada) and China. However you can get the Y500:

IdeaPad Y500 Laptop | Lenovo (IN)

Thank you so much! I decided to buy a DVI to HDMI cable for one monitor, and use the other monitor with the regular VGA cable. Good to know about the function key for output settings :)

Hey Jobine, is the screen clear and not smudgy/grainy?? I heard it suffers from visible lines and screen door effect is that true?

The only smudges on my screen are those from my own fingers (never touch your laptop screen :(, ill have to clean those), no dead pixels, no lines, etc, just a normal laptop screen. If yours has these, it is probably because it is a defect, but i haven't seen anyone complain about this in 2 months, so I'm pretty sure it was a defect. The only thing i dont like about this screen is that's it's not an IPS panel, but then this is a decent TN panel, made by LG.

Cool thanks. Any problems with the intel centrino wireless?? Is it stable connection without disconnects? Are you on windows 8? Any problems with the keyboard like miss strokes, ghosting, keys not responding when press etc....

Any throttling when benchmarking/gaming? Or are you getting the full performance of the 4700 quad and the ddr5 gt750m when the laptop is sitting flat on the desk? What are the cpu temps after gaming or running 3dmark11? Do you have to underclock or turn off turbo boost or use props?

For the wireless, uninstall Intel PROset, reboot the PC and it should be using the 14.8 Microsoft drivers, which have zero connectivity issues. All my keys respond and ive had no keyboard issues while gaming, the only 3 hiccups with the otherwise excellent keyboard are: No possibility to choose back-light colors, sharp edges of the laptop (if you used a Mac before you know what i mean) and no mute button.

As for throttling, it throttles on some games but doesnt on the others. I heard if you stress the GPU too hard, it stops throttling. However, i was able to play a CPU intensive (but not GPU intensive) game, The Dolphin Emulator and my CPU was constantly around the 3.3ghz mark, and was using 3 out of 8 threads at 100%.

After running 3DMark11, the laptop is warm but not overly hot. I dont have the time to post temps atm, but if you go to my full review thread ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/724759-y410p-full-review-5.html) you can find temps and benchmarks on pages 5 and 6.

There is no FN+mute key on the keyboard at all? Usually it has a decrease/increase button where the F keys are on top of the keyboard along with the mute when paired with FN. How's the audio btw? Is the external speakers crisp and clear? How about when connecting earphones/headsets on the 3.5mm jack, is there static/interference or popping noise or is it clear?

There is *NO* Fn-Mute combination. However you can always just shoot the sound down to zero or use a program like KeyTweak to remap an unused key to Mute (i remapped my right-click button to mute).

Very good audio, excellent speakers for a laptop. A little low bass, but theres no subwoofer anyways. Smooth, crisp, sound, be sure to set the laptop to >Music in the OneKey Theater. Also, no popping noise except when initially plugging the headphones (just about every device does that), but they are high quality metal headphone jacks, and have lots of grip.

None whatsoever. Excellent and perfect sound, tested 30 seconds ago listening to music with my Beats Solo. Onekey and Dolby really give this laptop a nice sound, and if you have good headphones you will notice.

    Ungine Heaven 4.0 - DX11 / High Quality / Moderate Tess / x4AA / 1333x768
SCORES GO: AVG FPS / SCORE / MIN FPS / MAX FPS

    Geforce 750M (Stock - 1058 core, 1250 mem) - 30.1 / 758 / 11.6 / 56.9
    Geforce 750M (Low Power - 135 core, 203 mem) - 4.5 / 113 / 3.4 / 7.7
    Intel 4600 in i7 MQ - 9.8 / 247 / 5.1 / 17.4
    NEW DRIVERS
    Geforce 750M (Stock - 1058 core, 1250 mem) - 31.2 / 785 / 11.7 / 59.8

Definitively, when it's on battery the integrated far surpasses the low power 750M.
The new drivers help marginally, and they removed odd split second slow downs I saw during the benchmark. I didn't see those split second slow downs in any games though. I assume it's memory bandwidth-related. Intense games might suffer from it.

    Here is my old laptop:
Phenom II X920, 2.3 GHz quad core
    8 GB, 1334 MHz @ CL9
    AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5650 (OC - 712 core, 965 mem) - 11.6 / 292 / 4.7 / 22.6

Was able to get almost ultra on BF3 and ultra on Skyrim out of that card at 1680x1050, expecting the 750M to smoothly sail through.
HD 4600's 247 is quite close to the 5650M's 292, but the HD 4600 is bumped up a bit because of how poorly the older GPUs dealt with tessellation.

But, the HD 4600 is still surprizingly good for Intel graphics.
In Torchlight 2 I was able to play at max settings and 1080p with the HD 4600 with slightly poor frame rates and noticeable slow downs with a lot of action. That was much better than I expected from it though.
The 750M was smooth as silk.

    A8-4500M, 1.9-2.3 GHz quad core
    4GB, 1333 MHz dual channel
    AMD 7640G Integrated (Stock - 655 core) - 9.3 / 233 / 4.4 / 17.1
    AMD 7640G Integrated (OC - 850 core) - 10.1 / 254 / 5.2 / 18.7

This is An A8-4500M that I tested recently, and with an OC it was able to essentially match the Intel counterpart. It was limited by non-1600 MHz RAM though.

    TLDR
Intel's made big strides and its integrated chip is able to play lighter games acceptably.
The Geforce is not to be used ever on battery. As far as I know, there's no option to tell it to shove off when on battery though. You'll have to manually start programs up with the integrated option.
    All games have been beautiful.
Noticed "High Performance" on the Energy Management thing just sets the CPU at 2.3-3.2 GHz when idle. It didn't pump up to 3.4 GHz on Sins of a Solar Empires' single core disasterfest, chilled at 3.2 GHz.

    ALSO:
Mine had a Synaptic Touchpad and with the Two Finger Scroll program instead of the Synaptics crap it is a seriously good touchpad. Acts almost as good as a Mac's.

So, i just tried using my blu ray disc drive on the Y410p by putting a blu ray in it. For some reason the laptop isnt reading that there is a disc in there. Help please. And whenever I put a disc in the drive it makes some weird clicking sounds and this wooshing sound as it speeds up, is that normal?

Another question: The SSD on my laptop is empty, like its 24.9 GB free of 24.9 GB. Is it supposed to be like that, or wasn't Windows or something supposed to be installed on it

I saw this on Amazon, it might answer your Blu-Ray question:

If the SSD is empty, delete all partitions on it (leave as free space) and install this:

    ExpressCache Software for Windows 7 64bit, Windows 8 64bit - ThinkCentre, ThinkPad

So, I was looking through the install/uninstall list and I already have something called Express Cache there. Should I still install what you sent in your link? And if so, where should I install it, on the empty SSD orr?

And how do I uninstall Lenovo Telephony? I can't find it on add/remove programs, and when I open it, it takes me to a webpage. Do I just delete the shortcut on the desktop orr?

What are the chances Lenovo is selling previously returned laptops and selling it as new by repackaging it and resealing it etc... and reinstalling/resetting software?

Reason i'm asking is that I ordered yesterday from Lenovo US website y410p brand new for $830 b4 taxes and today it is shipping and I got UPS estimated delivery of tomorrow?? Does that put a red flag because back then, it takes 2-3 weeks for them to build it and ship.

    What is you opinion guys>?

I know the laptops are shipped in bulk from china, once monthly. So that usually explains the wait times.

This is probably the case with all Ideapads and some Thinkpads (because some Thinkpads are still manufactured in the states i think, i could be wrong)

    Quick question -

I can't get sound to come out of my tv when I plug it to the tv with the hdmi, the sound continues to come out of the laptop speakers. I've tried fiddling around in settings and sound but I can't seem to get it to work.

    Something I'm doing wrong?

I had an issue with this at first. Right click the speaker icon in the taskbar and then click playback devices. I usually ended up disabling the computer speakers and the other audio out and the TV speakers then I re enable the tv speakers. You probably can just set the tv as the default audio device but i usually disable the others just in case. Most things work fine with it but I have had some issues with some games to where it didn't want to use the TV. This may not be the proper or easy solution but it works for me

Been looking to perhaps buy on of these (and lurking this thread), and just waiting on the 755m refresh.

Nvidia just released a specs page for the 755m and apparently it isn't SLI-ready.

    GeForce GT 755M | Specifications | GeForce

Also, the upper 2 models with SSDs of the 410p (at least for me) don't show up the the website anymore.

Expresscache is similar to Intel SRT. Basically, it makes a copy of your most used programs and files and copies them to the SSD. Then, those programs can be loaded off the SSD with much greater speed than they would on the Hard Drive. However, since Expresscache only copies, nothing on the original HDD is affected :)

Hi I bought my Y410P about 2 weeks ago and am loving it. I got mine with 1TB HD and bulked the RAM up to 16GB. My only problem is the screen. I got the 1366x768 and now realize that really I want the 1600x900. I can't exchange it and wondered if it is possible to just buy a 1600x900 screen and swap it? Anyone have any advice on this? Thanks!

Hey, I just got his laptop and was wondering if anyone else has issues with the keyboard? Some of the smaller keys feel flimsy and my left ctrl key actually pops out if you press it on the corner. Also, Lenovo shipped me a Canadian bilingual keyboard. Is there any way to get a US one instead?

Yeah I took care of it all last night. Tons of Lenovo stuff I sorted out. Thanks though. One downside of this forum is posts have to be approved before they go through. >.< Makes for some long wait times between responses.

Today is my first day with my 410p so far I love it. Took me a while to get the hang of win8. That and the trackpad is a little wonky. So far no wifi problems *knock on wood*

Thanks Jobine. I'll give it a try - although I am worried that the seller will say that once bought then I can't exchange under warranty unless it is defective. In the worst case scenario if I can't get it exchanged do you know if the 1366x768 screen can be swapped out with a 1600x900?

And now as soon as I asked that question too, I figured it out haha. I can post pictures later when I get home, but basically, on the bottom of the optical drive, there short black lines that are perpendicular to the faceplate (4 to be exact). That is about where the slots connect and you can put a flathead screwdriver in there and gently wedge out the faceplate. BUT the main slot that really connects the faceplate to the optical drive is underneath the right side of optical drive if you're looking at it in it's natural position. It took me a a little while to figure out that it was the part where the faceplate connects.

If you don't figure it out this afternoon, then I'll post pictures tonight! Good luck! =]

Mine works. I updated the Synaptics driver and disabled most of the gestures I didn't use in settings.

I guess Lenovo uses 2 different softwares for their y410p touchpads but that's ok, i'll try to figure it out later on how to make this 2 finger tap working.

Well here is my mini review so far on the y410p after using it the entire day

So far so good with this lappy, I like it better than the Asus N55JV and W230ST so far. It has better external audio w/o any interference/humming while a headphone/earphone is connected very crystal clear like you mentioned a few days ago Jobine . I also don't have any problems with the intel Centrino 2230 wifi, my connection is continuously smooth as butter with no disconnects and this is with Bluetooth also enabled. I can also confirm that there's no keyboard ghosting on most 3 key combos especially involving the WSAD. The portability of the y410p is just right for a 14" with thickness almost the same as my former clevo w230st at 1.25-1.29" and it actually makes the laptop seem more durable with a little heft to it and it's not as thick or heavy as my former Alienware 14 where that behemoth weighed 6-6.5lb and 1.6" thick.

Now regarding the screen, in terms of the viewing angle and color gamut, my former Alienware 14, Clevo W230ST, and Asus N550JV have the advantage no doubt. I did not include FHD as an advantage because the HD+ 900p display on the y410p is just perfect in the 13-14". I may not have the higher color gamut and the almost perfect viewing angles on the y410p, but at least now I don't have to deal with the IPS Bleeding Glow, Yellowish oversaturated tinting look, and the grainy matte screen (only on the AW14, the w230st and N550JV were clear and not grainy but the W230ST had a severe IPS Backlight bleeding glow and several stuck/dead pixels). Overall the 900p glossy display on the y410p is not perfect but it's not too bad, what I can say for sure is that it is definitely better quality with slightly better color than the 900p display on the S13p and M14x R2 I had in the past. Good enough for a TN glossy panel.

The one thing I loved about this lappy so far is the GDDR5 GT 750m. When I had the Asus N550JV with its DDR3 GT 750m, @ 900p resolution @ medium settings, I was getting 61-63fps on Crysis, when I ran it on the y410p at the same resolution of 900p and medium settings, the frames per sec was @ 77-78fps. That's a whopping 20-25% more performance by the GDDR5 vs the DDR3 GT 750m. Eventhough the base core clock speed and gpu turbo boost clock is higher on the ddr3 750m, it didn't matter because the memory speed of the gddr5 is clocked at 2500mhz vs the 1000mhz on the DDR3 750m and the gddr5 also has a higher bandwidth than the dd3.

So far there's no problems with gpu throttling, I had MSI afterburner, hwinfo running in the background when testing Crysis and Diablo 3 for 30 minutes continuously and the graph for GPU Usage stayed @ 99%, Core Clock steady graph, Memory Clock steady graph for 30 minutes. Cpu temps via hwinfo sensor went as high as 83c and the clock speed never went below the base of 2.4ghz and it mostly stayed around 3.1-3.2ghz. I also tested the cpu with turbo boost disabled (you can do this by putting your min/max cpu speed to 99) and locked at 2.4ghz, the temps never went above 75c and in gpu heavy dependent games, you won't notice a drop in performance unless it's a game that is very cpu heavy. So far no difference in frames per sec in Diablo 3 and Crysis w/ or w/o intel turbo boost.

Will test it some more later this week but so far so good with a very good first impression.

Is there anyway to force the fan to be 100% while gaming?

    @Colpolite

Correct me if i'm wrong, but Screen on the Y410P is the same one on the X1 Carbon, hence why it has such a large bezel

Also, when the SLI 750M bay will be out, i think the Y410P will be able to outperform the AW 14 765 and the Clevo.
