you guys are lucky regarding your ship dates, I placed my order on 12/2, only today 12/5 received est ship date of 12/13 with delivery of 12/30... a joke.... in saying that I'm sure it'll be sooner than that, but still a bit worrying for an EDD for an order placed on 12/2 (Aus)....

    Thanks!

After reading this and reviewing my notes on XPS 12 I'm kind of leaning towards Dell...
I can live without the digitizer and the dock, while certainly convenient, is not a deal breaker (I wouldn't go with the USB dock as alternative, though - they use DisplayLink chip which can be rather CPU-heavy - in case of XPS12 I'd just use displayport splitter/daisy-chaining)
Unfortunately I cannot find 512GB with dual channel 802.11AC wifi - it's either one or another and 512GB mSATA drives are very pricy to buy afterwards.

Have you experienced any WiFi issues with your model? I've read a lot of complaints about WiFi on ivy bridge models and it is my understanding that the problems carry on to haswell version with a single channel 802.11n card - only 802.11AC dual channel cards work reliably.

I spoke to a sales person about this. She said all the TPYs ordered from the US Lenovo site have a digitizer and come with the pen.

I have a question to all those who already got their TPY - how do you feel about the trackpad under your fingers in the tablet mode?
While I was playing with mine it was really annoying to feel it being pressed under my fingers.
I wish it would lock like the keyboard does...

Most of the time i dont get near the touchpad when its in tablet mode.
If i have it in tablet mode than on my laps or in two hands in landscape and finally if its laying on the desk for taking notes ;-) i had my thoughts too but would not complain about it. At least if i accidently hit the trackpad nothing happens...
But as many things thats more a a personal question ;-)

If i buy a new TPY now with the base 1 year warranty (which is our only choice now) and later they release extended warranty options will i be able to buy that before the 1 year expires? Did somebody had a similar scenario in the past with Lenovo?
Warranty is one of my big concerns (i dont really know why because none of my machines broke down ever) and its really strange that they took it down from the site just like that.

Yes you can buy extended warranty in after sale with different options (bring-in, pick up and so on) you just have to purchase it before it expires

Mine was as well. 9th-11th. i7-4600U, 128GB SSD, Win8 Pro, AC Wireless.

What's particularly interesting is that before the laptop was on my credit card as a pending transaction, but it is no longer there at all.

Yes this is probably possible. What im actually want to know is if it happened before that the warranties weren't available on launch then later on they added them as separate purchases.
In othet words will lenovo leave us without these options or not.

It is a website bug that they are finding it hard to fix. But they will sort it out, and at that point the warranties will once again be available. They have told me that they will honour the discount I got at purchase when buying my extended warranty once receiving my unit.

I got my i7 one from Costco yesterday. The model number is 20CD-0033US.
Love the material, build is awesome as usual for ThinkPad.
The weight is nice. I have the old Surface Pro and don't feel like it's that much heavier (anything over 2lbs is already heavy)
The weird thing is it comes with the stylus pen in the slot but there's no digitizer in the screen so the pen doesn't work.
There's also WIFI problem with this one. It has Intel dualband Wireless-N 7260 but somehow it cannot find any of my wireless N 5GHz network.
I will return it back to Costco soon.

I'm really curios about the update promised during the next year.
was about to buy the i7 (not vpro) but now i think about waiting what they are changing
really waiting for umts and gps (also nfc but this is confirmed for januar)
Maybe LeadOrg can tell us something about this

Really doubt it's a good strategy.. I'm not sure.. should i wait or buy the Yoga now?

Kanate, if my understanding is right, the Intel b/g/n 2x2 is NOT a dual band. It's essentially a 2x2 stream but on the 2.4 GHz. To get the dual band you'd have to get the TPY with the intel 7260 AC Dual band. I also have a Dell 15.6 7000 Inspiron (new) which has the exact same b/g/n 2 x 2 card - it doesn't operate on the 5 GHz.

it clearly says 2.4GHz and 5GHz

    Hi there

So I got my TPY today with wacom pen (the big model; i7-4500u, 256 gb SSD, 8 GB Ram).

Anyways besides the obvious design flaws: the touchpad doesn't lock when in tablet mode (minor thing but still) and that there is no caps lock light + notification lights like bluetooth underneath the screen like most other thinkpad models.

However, the most annoying thing is ultimately that the touchpad is disabled when the trackpoint is being used.

"That's not a problem" - you just might say, but actually it's REALLY annoying. When using the trackpoint, the only way to click right/left/middle is to actually click down the touchpad (and from lead_org's video we all know how annoyingly loud that is with the whole touchpad clicking).

So what I am really missing is to be able to (not click but) TAP left/right/middle WHILE using the trackpoint (which otherwise is an amazing input method IMO, experience with my good old IBM T43)

    My question is:
Have I overlooked a setting making this possible? Is there anyway to customize the trackpoint more (i can only see options to set the speed of the cursor and the size of the right/left/middle buttons - which is only clickable as explained above. Is it possible to download a driver from Lenovo which makes this possible?

Actually it is only the touchpad/trackpoint I have had problems with up till now. It's hard to find the perfect settings (coming from a 13" MacBook Pro). E.g. I am missing the very convenient option of "tap-and-pull" with three fingers (I only used tapping on the MacBook). Also, there seems to be some weird trembling when moving the mouse with the touchpad in a straight line (you really cant move it in a straight line actually).

I am gonna install the BIOS update for the blackhole problem later to night (Europe). Hopefully it will also help with this tremble-thing.

Otherwise, the great range of options regarding the touchpad behaviour is great! Like being able to tap the corners to, play/pause, mute, backward/forward track selection and so on.

Some other things I have noticed:

The pen is really too short to draw with to be comfortable in longer sessions, I am probably gonna buy a Bambus pen or something.
But it's great to always have with you, and super easy with the case - not like the Surface Pro 2 where it's easy to fall of - this won't happen with the TPY.

The screen is awesome! I really don't need more than FHD - I wouldn't pay extra for getting more (no need for Retina or 3200x1800 something).

It would be extremely nice if there were someway to have the on screen keyboard pop up in tablet mode, you know whenever tap on the adressbar or stuff like that - and also that it would pop away Again when you have pushed enter. I hope this will be corrected in a future update (hopefully soon).

    Whatelse.

There is a mute-light, nice and red, on the mute-button - didn't notice that in the videos or Pictures.

I should say that I didn't have a chance to try the TPY before I bought it (no stores have it in Scandinavia - I haven't seen it anyways).

I think it's awesome you can set three-finger click to e.g. switch between metro/desktop. Very convenient.

The keyboard is a bit small, but fortunately I don't have the biggest hands in the World (average size I would say) and I think it won't take long to get used to. Been using it for a couple of hours now, and it's already a lot better.

I'm fearing for the battery hours I can get out of it. But can't properly test it right now.

It's a bit too heavy to use exactly like an Ipad, but if you let it down on your knees or something like that, it's actually quite awesome! I won't be buying a tablet anytime soon.

I adore the matte-ish screen! Much like my old T43 but a lot better of course - don't like the new "mirror"-screens that's in the yoga 2 pro fx

There is probably more and I might do a proper review at some point.

Hope somebody knows how to solve the problems I have as explained in the beginning.

One thing I was very interested in, was the possibility of using the TPY as a digital drawing... machine (you know) like the Surface Pro 2.
That meant also how easy t would be to have the screen raised a couple of inches (like the cintique companions stand is able to do).

When you have the TPY in presentation mode, unfortunately the screen is forced down because of some magnets (i think) and the weight of the screen. If you have it in a 45 degree

System properties show it's Dual Band one but yeah, it's possible that it's actually this 2.4GHz only module.

No, not at the warehouse. It's available online at costco.com. They have good deals right now. $100 off i7 model and $200 off i5 model. The standard shipping is actually UPS 3 days service, so it's pretty fast.

The version she actually uses is an i5/4gb ram version. Looking like there are no lag issues with the programs she used. That makes me happy as I opted for the i5 instead of the i7. Too bad about the pen, it is a dinkly looking thing. I ended up ordering a penabled pen and will probably be using that primarily with the stock one as a backup.
My estimated ship date still hasn't change. It's suppose to ship 12/6 origin time. We shall see.

Good lord, would you look at that digitizer action? Unbelievable. I've been waiting so long to see some nice footage of inking on the TPY.

At this time I would just like to say that the TPY might just be the coolest ultrabook ever.

Now if Lenovo would just ship the darn thing to me. I ordered 11/22, ship date was originally 12/3, then got pushed back to 12/9, then pushed back 12/11 today. It's killing me.

Think I might get the Modbook Pro Digitizer Pen to use as my main digitizer pen. Looks to have a nice simple design with a dual button on the side and an eraser on the back. Also comes with a nice assortment of nibs.

Also, I'm not sure if we've already covered this, but apparently you can further enhance the accuracy of the digitizer by using a built-in command line tool called tabcal.

Noob question about digitizers and screens: scratches? Do I have to worry about scratching the screen with the digitizer?

Occasionally, I read about SP users with scratched screens or users who use screen protectors.

    Thanks!

The screen does come with a screen protector of sorts to give it a matte finish, similar to that on the X1 carbon. I imagine it wouldn't be as noticeable if scratched, and may be replaceable as well.

I purchased my TPY from newegg.com and will receive in a few days. i7 8gb 256ssd. I am concerned with the wireless issue, and i'm wondering if there is a way to check if my model comes with dual-band once I receive. Where in computer information would one find that? Also, how many of you have experienced wireless connectivity problems with your TPY?

I'm about 99% sure that it is this...

    http://www.intel.com/content/dam/ww...ct-briefs/wireless-n-7260-bluetooth-brief.pdf

Which would mean that it is not dual band. However, you can purchase...

    Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260: Product Brief

    And install it yourself.

The second model is the one that Lenovo uses if you choose to upgrade the wireless card.

there's a pretty tempting deal on the ThinkPad Yoga Core i5 model:

Get up to $149.01 off Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga Ultrabook

You get $100 in Amazon gift card and its $200 cheaper than Lenovo. (essentially making it $949 if you consider the cash value of Amazon)

Core i7 looks like its $1299 at Newegg. I saw it on B&H awhile back for like $50 less than Lenovo ($1350?)

I really want 8GB with a Core i5 since the clockspeed isn't that big of a difference and the SSD is upgradable.. really unfortunate that they went with solder-on RAM.

    Very tempting.

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, it appears that all models sold by Lenovo include the digitizer, while all models sold by resellers do not include the digitizer.

Thanks! Will this upgrade greatly improve my wireless tethering?
If I have trouble connecting when I unbox, any recommendations on getting connected?
Appreciate anyone's input as experience and information on the TPY is so limited.

@KevTHC I'm planning on using OneNote and Sketchbook Pro on my TPY. One note might be a good way to do flowcharts instead of using Visio.

Has anyone who has played with the Thinkpad Yoga noticed that the built-in camera is worse than the typically horrible cameras built in to most laptops? When playing with it at a store the picture was incredibly noisy, and nearby models seemed to do much better. I can't think of a software setting to change this, but I also can't imagine why it would be so bad.

The model that was used in the review done by Lisa for MobileTechReview was a b/g/n. She said it was absolutely solid. In general, going by the comments and track record for Lenovo Thinkpads, the TPY should also have fairly good wireless connectivity (caveat, everyone's experience will differ due to a limitless number of factors). Will upgrading to a AC dual band help? It depends. If you plan to use your laptop in hotspots, there is an increasing number of 5ghz being used. In theory you will get better performance, because the air is so convoluted with 2.4 ghz signals (phones/microwaves, etc.). If you plan to use it at home, you will need a dual band router to take full advantage of the 5ghz. Also, dual band has better performance, but lesser range.

What do I use? I use a rather old Linksys wireless-G router. I usually have 3-4 connections running. I also have no issues tethering from my phone to my laptops. All my laptops are not dual band/AC. I don't get any drops. In the near future, I may upgrade to an AC, so I can get a little bit better performance, but when I want that I usually am at home and I have a desktop that is hardwired. SO final thoughts. Should you upgrade to AC dual band? It doesn't hurt (aside the 30 bucks). Is it an absolute needed? Probably not.

    I hope this helped.

    WooHoo...finally got shipment confirmation.

Where do you even get shipping notifications? Do they email you?

I ordered 11/29 and I'm given is a findmyorder.com reference, which still just says "processing order"...
Would be nice to have an estimated delivery date.
