Thank you. The Power-Manager utility does the job.![]()

Can you share, which bluetooth speakers you use, can you recommend these to others?
-
You will not be output a 4k resolution even with the Pro dock. If you are still within the return period, and if you are able to get a good deal(i got a $30 discount-about 17%), i think it is worth considering. As soul347 pointed out, it can be future proof. I really like having the additional 2 USB 3.0 docks as I have two external HDDs. I bought the 256GB SSD version. I store all the media files in the external HDD and leave them connected all the time. But if the USB ports on the Onelink basic are enough, then I think you would not need the Pro.
-
If you do the same test on paper, not digital, you get the same ghosting effect. It will not last as long as that and you have to watch it at least about 30 seconds, before the image burns into your eye's retina.
-
It was charging at 99% for fairly long. Maybe it stops charging after a certain time. I did not bother checking that as The Power Manager utility suggested here was even better as it is not required to charge the battery to full capacity before it stops charging.

I'm currently using Beacon Blazar speakers which I got on Kickstarter before they were relased on the market. I use them all the time when on my computer and they are quite portable. What's good is they also come with a 1000 day warranty. There are many other options out there such as the UE Boom or the Bose Sound Link Mini. They can get quite pricey. I'd recommend the Beacon Phoenix as the more economical option

Thanks guys, i appreciate it. I might reconsider. I am only looking to run one monitor at a time, but was hoping for something a bit higher than FHD. However, that is not a deal breaker eitherway
-
The display port supports upto 2560x1600 if only one monitor is being used.

I HATE UPS...
Two deliveries were meant to come today, a rucksack and my Yoga. UPS had my rucksack Out for Delivery in the morning but the Yoga was still showing up as being in Germany.. So I called up UPS and was informed it would definately reach me today...... It didn't and neither did the damn rucksack.
The rucksack states there was an unexpected delay, meaning the driver is a lazy c**t and didn't want to be delivering past 7 so just left my parcel and maybe others to go back to the Depot for 7 :/
The laptop after double checking with UPS was NEVER meant to come today, the guy said that the delivery date on the tracking page was 1 business day off as the Label was created on a Friday but the actual product didn't ship till the Monday, meaning the scheduled date was off. He also said that there is no question about my laptop not being delivered tomorrow along with my rucksack (we will see if it comes as promised) The depot close at around 7:30 so I will be on the phone to UPS before 7 tomorrow if neither parcel arrive or any more bullcrap "errors" occur.
I don't even mind waiting an extra day, its the fact that I waited all day and was told a complete and utter lie deliberately to get me off the phone :/ Now I have to wait another god damn day inside just because they are incapable of delivering a parcel 20 minutes from their damn depot!
Ps. Could this forum just put *** in place of swear words instead of just deleting them *sighs* -
Thank you for all your inputs. Tomorrow I will order the Model with
- i7 4600u
- 8gb Ram
- Digitizer
- 256GB SSD
- with NFC
- Dual Band Wifi
- 36 Months of Guarantee
for 1469€
The only point I'm thinking about is wether I choose a 500GB SSD.
I was also not sure wether to buy a version with i5 or i7, because I was scared about battery life, but i heard that there would not be such a big diference so this is okay for me.
It needs ~2 weeks and I cant wait anymore
I will also buy an external battery pack to increase/double the battery life of the TPY
amazon.de/XTPower%C2%AE-MP-23000A-Powerbank-externer-hochleistungs/dp/B0096M814U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1389830931&sr=8-2&keywords=23000+20v
with this adapter
ebay.de/itm/291031226140?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I hope that this construction will work
PS: I ordered in germany -
You know , you could just order an old tablet to keep you preoccupied. Consider your alternatives carefully...
As for the external battery , it should in theory work but I've never used that brand.
If you do order the ThinkPad Yoga , remember that you should buy another the stylus.
The stylus that it comes with is hard to use and you will be missing an eraser as well. -
I would look further into the i7 vs i5. According to actual tests from one review site they tested both the i7 and i5 versions and found almost an hour and a half difference! I am inclined to believe this is true because people with the i7 generally report 6 - 6 and half hours of battery life.
In regards to the hard drive, I suggest you get the 500GB Hard Drive then buy a 500gb SSD to replace it. At least you can save money by buying your own SSD with a size that Lenovo doesn't even offer, plus you'll have a back up HDD if you need it. -
I saw the test of notebookcheck. But i asked different People (including Lisa from mobiletechreview) about that point but they all told me that in practice the difference would be like 15-20 Minutes Not percent. And in theory if the difference would be Teil big, in battery use i could throttle the CPU to Maximum 80% so i have the Same tact as the i5.
To the point of the drive : in my country i have the choice from 128 GB to 1tb ssd, and for saving some Euros i wont build it myself and risk to destroy something and lose guarantee. -
where have you found this model beeing shipped the next 2 weeks?
all informations i get (campuspoint, ok-1.de, lenovo.de) you have to wait 4 weeks till it is shipped
(btw local thinkpad dealer says shipment date is unknown)
-
as far as i know i5 and i7 should be 15 W TDP
=> the battery life under load should be the same (because the upper limit to powerconsumption of the cpu is 15 W)
if you use the yoga light, the i 7 should be able to stay at a smaller speed step (more often than the i 5)
-
Just throttle the i7 to 80% maximum load in your energy options and you have an i5
-
does the nfc comes to all i7 model? in italy we can find only that model: 20CD0038IX and i can't understand if:
- nfc is available
- the pen is ausefull pen or somthing that i winn never use. -
Is this just reflecting what is written in the technical data, or did you try and found it out in reality?
I'm sure you already know that the technical data was wrong concerning the maximum resolution of the mini-HDMI?
Technical data says only 1920x1200, I can confirm 2560x1440 (unfortunately I had no chance to test any larger resolution).. -
Are there any screen protectors available for the ThinkPad Yoga?
Are there any third party chargers that's compatible with the ThinkPad Yoga?
Thanks! -
That's why you should not look at the screen during the test. Just look at the screen when you switch to grey background. Than you can see the real LCD ghosting (or hopefully not).
-
Anyone successfully swapped out single band wifi card for the dual band one?
-
I had this happen to mine, early on, when I was playing around with it. It did not turn off, but got really hot. Turned out to be a program called "UpdateMonitor.exe" was using 100% resources. I just killed the process and it has not returned.
-
Not specifically for the yoga but usually you can buy films of a certain size etc.
As for third party chargers, stay away from them. Best to only use official chargers with your devices because third party chargers could cause all sorts of damage especially cheap ones, also any damage caused will not be covered by your warranty so best to stay away.

1. Go to Retina MBP (rMBP) image-retention test and print out the test pattern
2. Let the test run on your TPY for 10 minutes WITHOUT looking at the screen, after 10 minutes, when it switches to gray background look at the screen and remember the ghosting pattern.
3. Sit down and look at the test pattern you have printed in step one for 10 minutes (without looking away and try not to blink either, set an alarm to let you know when 10 minutes have passed)
4. After 10 minutes have passed look at a gray wall or a cabinet.
5. If you can still see the test pattern at the level resembling what you saw on the TPY screen - SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR EYE DOCTOR IMMIDIATELY!
;-) -
I read that same thing on a different forum, but that is referring to the mini HDMI on the TPY itself, not on the dock.
The dock would either have the full HDMI as is on the non pro, or the DVI and Display Port as is on the pro.
It would be nice to have someone test the full HDMI on the non pro to see if in fact the max resolution is 1920x1200 (or is it 1080..?)
Eitherway I do not have the equipment to test, so that's why I was wondering if anyone else knew the facts. -
Someone here on this forum already tested the non-pro full HDMI and indeed it caps out at 1920x1080. However, when you go direct to the TPY mini-hdmi you can achieve higher resolutions than this. I wish I could give you the exact reference of the person who tried it, but I am not willing to go through the hundreds of pages of this forum.
The HDMI on the TPY is 1.4, where as the HDMI on the non-pro one link dock is probably 1.3 which is why it caps at 1920x1080. That isn't such a bad thing as 1920x1080 is probably what the majority of us will be using for our external monitors. Sure its nice to have higher resolutions, but those monitors costs a lot and chances are we don't even need the extra real estate -
Right on soul347. That's exactly what I have gathered so far through this forum and a couple of other ones. Yes, you are right. 1080p is most likely just the right resolution for most people. Its certainly fine with me. And if it comes down to getting one that is higher, then I know my TPY will be able to handle it. And as I have read, hdmi 1.4 is capable of supporting 4k resolution, though, I am not sure if it makes a difference that this is a MINI-HDMI and not a full HDMI. Thanks for all the help. I will be keeping my non pro dock as I already have it. Lets just hope there aren't problems with it as others have already experienced.

So I just got my thinkpad yoga earlier today and I LOVE IT!
The build quality is perfect, the plastic below the screen near the Start button does flex a little bit but its a very random thing that I only tested because I very thoroughly inspected everything I thought could possibly be wrong
Getting used to the keyboard but its really a dream to type on such a nice keyboard on a laptop, the usual mushyness of most ultrabooks is no longer a worry as this really shows that even a thin laptop can have a decent keyboard.
No complaints about the device so far and everything is working as expected!
-
I think I've seen someone saying that the HDMI port on the non-pro dock is capable of 1920x1200 - which makes sense as early versions of HDMI were actually capped to 1200, not 1080. This was true till HDMI v1.2 - all the way back in 2005. HDMI v1.3 can do 2560×1600 and v1.4 can do 4K (4096×2160), but only at 30fps - which is fine for movies, but unusable for desktop. To do 4K @ 60fps you need HDMI v2.0
I'm not sure which version of HDMI TPY has (I've seen ppl mention v1.4 but have not seen official specs), but it's definitely not v2.0 (the standard has barely came out - I don't think there are any actual devices with it yet) - so 4K on the built-in port is probably out of the question.
That said, the HD4400 can, in theory, drive 3840x2160 and display port supports 4K@60fps - so if there is any hope for 4K on TPY - it's via OneLink Pro dock. -
I'm trying to decide between Onelink Dock Pro and universal USB 3.0 docking station (I really like Belkin Dual Video B2B044-C00).
I know both are using the same DisplayLink DL-3900 chip and both can run my 2560x1600 monitor. I also have 3 more 1920x1200 external monitors connected through UV19+. I'm not using it for video or gaming so I never had performance issues.
I can't find any details how is the Onelink connector connected to the motherboard. Is the Onelink just another USB3.0 combined with power or is it something better and lessens the load on CPU?
I really like the universal USB3.0 docking solution as I could use it with my other machines. But if I can get significantly better performance with Lenovo dock it may be a better choice -
I picked up a TPY yesterday on Craigslist for $1320. Brand new sealed, i7 4600u, 8gb, 256 ssd, and Digitzer. Nothing else upgrade.
I love it so far, there are aren't any major problem, the manufacture date was 12/15. There's a slight backlight bleeding on the top but it's not bad.
I had a Yoga 2 Pro and a Surface Pro 2 and this is like a baby between the two.
I feel like there's already a matte screen protector installed, don't feel the need to apply another protector.
Other than installing the Wacom Feel Drivers, are there anything else I need to do or install? -
I've been looking for ages in this thread to answer my question, but I just can't seem to find the conclusion on it, only the discussion.
Does anyone know if the Thinkpad Yoga 8 gb ram version, is dual or single channel? It seems as if this has an impact on the performance, or am I mistaken? Thanks for your help. -
OneLink is a proprietary Lenovo interface and it does not use DisplayLink chip - it's a direct interconnect for video (with USB2, USB3 , Ethernet and audio are all riding on a USB hub in the dock connected via USB link to the root hub in the TPY)
In theory you should get better performance/latency with OneLink dock and lower CPU usage.
In practice CPU works overtime on my TPY and it runs rather hot driving 2 external displays via the Pro dock + internal panel while a couple of pages back someone mentioned that his TPY is cool and quiet driving external monitor via DisplayLink based dock. So YMMV. -
Does anyone know if windows 8.1 has tools to configure it just show the pressure sensitivity of the stylus. I had to reinstall from the recovery partition as my TPY just went to cr@p, then I installed the Wacom feel drivers, then ended up uninstalling them again so I could do the better calibration, and my Serif Draw Plus doesn't even appear to recognise that I have a Wacom digitiser. Just wanted to know if the OS tools can show that this is working natively and properly with Windows.
Thanks for any help. -
It is dual channel
-
Okay, thanks for the quick respons.
I don't think i quite understand. How can you be sure of that? I seemed like, in the first pages of this thread, that i wasn't dual channel? Can you see it somewhere on the specs of the TY? Maybe from Lenovo web store? -
Hi all have TPY 2 weeks now. I am a mature student studying for a science degree. If you are a student this machine is ideal. I was taking hand written notes in a theoretical physics tutorial for 2hrs today. Any questions regarding this machine for college give me a bell.
-
Looks like things are picking up. My shipping date for my i5, 4GB TPY, FHD Digitizer changed from January 30 to January 20. I'm in Canada
-
It's dual channel, both the 4gb and 8gb versions are dual channel

Is there an indicator to know when the battery is full? I'm charging it as it's shut down, I don't see any light or anything.
-
Does anyone know if there is a way to clone a drive via sata to usb cable even though there is no operating system on the drive currently inside the system?
-
I just download from windows update version 16.6.2.1, maybe this one fixes the problems. I will know on Sunday.
-
Does anybody know how to remove the damn pen nib on the included stylus?!
Its not coming out and I don't want to use anymore force incase I damage it..
Can it even be removed? Surely it can.. -
The pen-nib can defintly not be removed. I disasambled the pen.
godofwar424 and quadpatch like this. -
I have been using the Toshiba DynaDock U3.0 to drive two monitors (1920x1080) , hard drive and charging my iPhone for a week. Laptop fan only runs when I hit site with unusual content ( iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer) this apple site has the fan running at full tilt whenever I go to it. No other site does this, even when watching video's playback the fan is silent.
I was considering moving to the OneLink, but I may just stay with the DynaDock, my other laptop will work just fine on this as well. Would be nice if there was a way to adjust the text sizing with one button (between 125 and 100) 125 is good on the laptop but too much on the monitors.
I have no slowness or lag, internet speed is good. My trading platform runs well, my uVNC connections all work fine and overall it's so quiet in my office now! -
That sucks, ordering a bamboo feel stylus now then as I don't really like the way the nib feels on the screen
-
CTOs are not perfect. I purchased mine direct from Lenovo as a CTO unit. My screen is experiencing some serious ghosting. Called Lenovo & it'll take around two weeks to replace/repair, I took it to a local Lenovo repair depot & they have no idea when a replacement digitizer screen would come in. It's currently backordered. Waiting for "THE" call from the depot.
I've been very happy with my first Lenovo purchase, but this process is pretty disappointing. -
Yeah this is down to the panel used though. Apparently only one 12.5 " 1080p screen in the market and its by LG who already know about the ghosting issues. Newer builds of the panel should be fixed but that might not reach Lenovo for another 4-6 months although the backordered could be a sign that they are changing their panels on any repairs.

Just the battery indicator in windows. Blink codes for the red LED are:
Blink for three times: The computer is initially connected to power.
On: The computer is on (in normal use).
Blink fast: The computer is entering hibernation mode.
Blink slowly: The computer is in sleep mode.
Off: The computer is off or in hibernation mode.
Nothing for charging or charge level. -
Same here, center top.. And I don't agree, it's very frustrating to get hands on a new costy device and have that kind "not an actual " problem
