When I read it, i thought he was being complimentary (didn't see the deleted post.)
Germany has a culture of project planning and organization. I work with BMW and see it every day and respect the heck out of it.
Now Tyrell, lets talk about you and proper sentence structure with punctuation...![]()

Is there any way to check US/Canadian/UK prices for warranty upgrades? I would be interested in the price of the 4 year on-site warranty with Thinkpad Protection.
Kind regards

I'm dead man... with that

Just wanted to let you guys know that Lenovo did get a shipment of the non-multitouch FHD screens in and they are getting the orders out. I ordered a T510 with one in early Feb. that just shipped out today.
-
now it was compliment-joke
and by saying what you are saying you seem more of a separatist yourself.
I think the planet belongs to humans who can speak about other humans and if you think Germans any different from you you should buy piece on the Moon and put your rules and picket fences there.
I like germans more than those who take money and deliver goods late plus faulty.
censorship is not required. plus im running the tests that german dude asked me to and will post results possibly tomorrow. what did you contribute here except 3 posts? -
Just canceled with Multitouch order (Jan.28 - canada) the rep said at least mid April.. If I wait they can give me a $100 credit.. honestly.. Lenovo.. you can take the bill and SHOVE IT
-
just kidding
I think dell would never dream about running out of stock.
I just wish that they all had better QC I guess this is too much to ask.
when everything is Eastmade. -
I love Lenovo but this is just too much. Not going to a Dell though.. never.. going to Clevo ;]
-
Still waiting for FHD to return...
-
Well, I ordered on January 31.
First shipment date: 2/9.
First delay: 3/1.
Second delay: 3/6.
Third delay: 4/23.
Put me on the "priority list."
The result of that was to find out today I'm delayed until 5/10.
I give up. -
I understand people getting worked up about their claimed shipping dates but honestly it's not anything new. I went through the exact same thing with my T61P order. The shipping dates on their site are utterly meaningless. For whatever reason we just need to accept that their billing/sales system has a complete disconnect from their manufacturing in China. Ignore the shipping estimates. 5/10 could mean it'll ship tomorrow, yesterday, or in the fall.
It's also very apparent that the FHD displays are nearly non-existent in the supply chain. So I understand everyone's frustrations, and I also wish that Lenovo's system was faster to update (ie: allow/disallow orders based on supply ON HAND), but it is what it is. I myself want a system with non-touch FHD and will simply wait for it. For those that can't, if you really want a Lenovo, go with HD+, it sounds like a decent display. But at this point just accept that the shipping dates from sales are wacko and make zero sense. -
1st place IBM-ambiguous place apple.
2nd place goes to HP corporate machines. and same for dells.
3rd goes to panasonic (for using old tech) and Sony. why? coz too expancive and they do break if not handled carefully (will never withstand abuses others would.
4th place goes to average mid class dells. again why? coz cheap plastics
and they all die in one year strangely screens are good.
5th place to all other rubbish which has some wierd names but produced on in the same shoby tacky plant as others alike.
just funn review of tech junk
by the way apple laptops have some ASUS components. -
Is there anyone get the W510 with multi-touch screen?
Mine is going to arrive tomorrow(March. 9) -
This morning it all got updated to the following for pre-configured machines:
6 days for HD screen
15 days for HD+ screen
55 days for FHD screen
60 days for FHD multitouch screen
Last week it the lead time was listed at 25 days for FHD, and 40 days for multitouch -
May as well lock this thread until mid-April. Very disappointing product launch by Lenovo.

-
BTW, any lucky owners so far with the HD+ AG LED screen?
What's your impression of that screen? -
I received my multitouch w510 on friday (3/5/2010). It shipped out on monday and was in new orleans by the end of the week.
I haven't had much time to use it yet, as I was flying out for a vacation, though i brought it with me. Before I even used it for anything, I booted it, made the recovery discs, and installed an Intel x25-m (gen2).
The multitouch screen looks great to me, especially after calibrating it. I don't notice any ghosting, or different color hues, etc. I can't use it at maximum brightness, and prefer to use it at 13 out of 15. The touchscreen feature is neat, though I'm not sure how useful it will prove.
With 8GB of 1333mhz RAM, Intel x-25m, and Intel 820 it is incredibly fast at loading photos in photoshop, and certainly seems able to process large .tiff files with ease.
I haven't installed a game on it yet, though I am in the process of loading Mass Effect 2 while I type this review.
With the same programs loading during startup as my W500 (7.2k RPM drive), the W510 with SSD loads in 1/3 of the time or better. When I get home I will be able to do a side by side comparison.
I plan to pull the DVD drive and install the 500gb drive that shipped with my system as a secondary drive.
The W510 with multitouch is thicker than my W500, but the slightly thinker size and weight of the 9-cell battery are certainly worth it to me for the increased capability.
I don't have my camera setup at the moment, so I can't post pics, though I do like this new screen MUCH MUCH more than the screen on my W500. Again, I find the brightness more than sufficient, so I imagine the 270nit screen will be much too bright.
As for shipping, I ordered at the end of January, had my initial 2/12 ship date pushed to 3/1/2010. Lenovo did keep the 3/1 ship date.
Also, I do like the keyboard... especially more than the one I had on my W500. It is much quieter and smoother, doesn't skip any keys, and doesn't have any noticale flex while typing. -
Dmmm my order placed by my university the end of Feb, god knows how long it will take to get here ... I was told Mar 18. Guess won't see it happen.
-
-
I do not think I am the first cause I ordered it on Jan 21 after I canceled my W500 order. -

@Goodfellaslxa: Nice feedback...I'm about to pull the triggerIt's now or wait till Sandy Bridge. But back to the screen, how's the outdoors operation? Is it possible? It's an anti-glare type but still, what is your impression? Also did opt for the 1900rez? Is it bearable for the 15" or maybe I should go for a lower native rez?
-
Goodfellaslxa, interesting. My previous order was placed on 1/11 and was ultimately delayed to 4/26 before I canceled it. Did you do anything with Lenovo to push priority? Purchase it through a corp account? Asked them really nicely?
Congrats on your machine. Glad it is working out for you. -
Thanks for posting your feedback, Goodfellaslxa! We need more of that in this thread
How is the multitouch layer? In normal use of the screen, are the additional touch-sensitive layers noticeable or bothersome? -
It would be nice if someone did a full review with pics and benchmarks. Interesting how the cooling system handles the i7+GPU @load (gaming, benching, etc)
-
The T510 seems to handle the cooling needs of the Core i7 dual core and discrete Quadro NVS 3100M very well, although those are much lower-power than the W510's Core i7 quad core and discrete Nvidia FX 880M. -
Will the "ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter II (43R1980)" fit to W510?? Anyone had tried?
-
Not much else for anyone to offer until Lenovo ships out laptops and this truly becomes an owner's thread. It's already bloated as it is with very few owners. -

-
mine doesnt go over 60 but im using stand which lifts the machine above the table aprox 1 inch and im not using the fan the stand has.
now if you put it flat on the bed!! youll get it to reach 100C 4 sure. -
Is there any chance the GPU slot is NOT proprietary?
Need to see more internal pics. -
The GPU is integrated on the MB so very likely soldered on. You can see the various layouts (integrated, switchable, etc) in the hardware maintenance manual.
-
And don't even hope of shoving a 940XM in there, the PSU is 130W. -
Edit: A 940 should work if a 920 does. -
-
-
Nice Idea though, 5870+920... hehe. Not on Lenovo, not yet -
Edit: BTW, how much was the multitouch screen option when it was available? -
the FX880 is an openGL card don't expect too much gaming performance out of it. Also it is built onto the mobo so you can't upgrade it.

My bad, I can see it on the US website. I should always assume that we are outdated here -

people cancelling in the last few days after waiting and waiting is heart wrenching. orders are now flying out.

My W510 came with a 9-cell 55++ 42T4803 battery that looks like this:
I can't find a spare 55++ battery to order. psref says that the 9-cell battery is 51J0500 but when I search for that battery, I find a completely different battery that obviously won't fit.
Has anyone been able to order a spare 9-cell battery for the W510? -
As the T510/W510 is still pretty new, and uses new batteries that have a higher charge capacity (94Wh versus 84Wh on the old 9-cell of the T500/W500), Lenovo's probably having its usual technical difficulties in getting everything updated on its website.
You could try calling into Lenovo Sales and see if you can place an order, but to avoid additional hassle, I would just wait for a while and keep checking back on the Lenovo store website.
