The options presented to the buyer only apply for the last mile of the shipment (from the UPS center to your house). For the majority of the journey, everyone is still stuck in the same boat (and Customs)

Updated. My laptop is getting closer.
But the problem is there is no approximate date on shipment page.
When they published tracking information page it was saying approximately on june but when i calculate according to other owners track informations mine will be at 23 th of june. There is nothing to do instead of waiting

 

From what I remember, UPS will hold your package for ~3 days before customs are cleared.

Our w520 are at same truck . but it seem in your shipment track page you have estimated delivery date. I don't have it in my track page.
And you say it's monday in yours.

In which state are you in ?

 

Ordered 6/14. No scheduled delivery date. Looks like it will still go to KY, even though I'm right below in Washington!

take heart. When my was scanned out of Lexington (3:36 in the AM) it arrived at my house in San Diego the same day in the afternoon.

So once it clears customs it is very fast.

Has just been updated today that I am receiving the laptop tomorrow . I am glad I did not pay extra for the 2 day shipping. I am very excited and could not wait to do the memory and SSD upgrade.

 

awww not fair, mine still hasn't cleared customs Do they ship it from ground from KY if I ordered ground shipping, or are they doing something that you guys are getting them faster?

 

I think that you may be in a different "shipment" than him. What I mean by that is that Lenvo groups together X amount of purchases into one, super-huge shipment that will be shipped from China, imported, and cleared by Customs as if the group of packages was a single package.

 

Well I meant after it clears customs...are they still shipping it ground, or does it go air freight even thought you ordered ground shipping?

Ordered my second W520 (I have one at work). This one was for home use and custom configured. I ordered on July 3rd. Shipped Saturday July 9th and delivered to my home on the morning of July 11th. I spent the $25 for two-day shipping and my W520 made it all the way from China to my hands in 48 hours over a weekend. I can't complain about that. I needed it fast for a trip and paid the $25.

Interesting. I ordered on the 1st and mine was on the same plane as yours (left Shanghai at 1:47am, arrived in KY at 6:21am). However, the arrival in KY is the last update I have; no import scan, no departure from there, and certainly no arrival. This tells me that I definitely should call UPS to find out what's going on. Our packages should have moved in lockstep at least until they reached customs and probably until they got on different planes for final delivery.

Edit: If there's a way to talk to an actual human being at UPS, could someone tell me? All their stupid phone system lets me do is say a tracking number, at which point it tells me "Your package is being sent." Great, guys, thanks for the detail.

Edit 2: Never mind. The magic phrase is "speak to an agent." It's in a customs hold scheduled for delivery on the 14th, the one day that I can't be there to get it. At this point I actually hope customs is slow and it's not delivered until Friday unless they can somehow, by some miracle, get it here tomorrow.

I am hoping mine eventually makes it to Southern California, but for now it appears to be shuttling between Anchorage and Louisville!

 

Your order is fine for right now; the "shuttling" seems to be just an extra entry for Anchorage (notice that both of them have the exact departure times).

I don't what happened to my W520. It's like stuck at KY since Sept 18th. The estimated shipping date is 21st, tomorrow. Do you guys know why? Why does nothing change in UPS status and what the hell are they doing in KY?

 

It's most likely being held by customs. If you do a Google search you'll see that this is pretty common. (Not to mention that facility is enormous.) I would wait a day or so before calling, etc. My y460 took 2 days to get through that place.

 

Totally surprised at the shipping process. I placed an order for 4 items including a W520. Everything is being shipped individually. Originally, I thought that all the items in the order would ship together because that was why I didn't go elsewhere for the memory and mouse.


Item 1: memory sticks) Lenovo sends UPS tracking number/notification via email. UPS tracking number does not work. Phoned them 4 days after email has been received. They say it is on hold at customs and I will receive an email notification when it is released. So I wait. Then after day 6, I did not receive any additional notifications and I just happen to click on the UPS tracking number (now it is working) and found that a UPS delivery attempt has already been made.

Item 2 and 3: ultrabay DVD + mouse) This is after Item 1 has been shipped. I receive email notification that the items have been shipped but no UPS tracking number. I phone up and they say that they don't release UPS tracking numbers until it clears customs and that I will get email when it does clear customs. I told them about my experience with Item 1. They say, in that case, give them a call in 3 days to track the order. I asked them why I would get the UPS tracking number for one item but not others. They said, this is standard policy that UPS tracking numbers are not released until it clears customs. I point out that it that the process seems inconsistent because I did get UPS tracking number for Item 1 which did not work until the items cleared customs. They repeat the same line.

After having ordered things from Amazon. I think I am spoiled with my expectations.

Update for my last post.

Sent email to [email protected] to request UPS tracking numbers.

They were actually helpful and supplied the UPS tracking #'s. I guess it depends on which group you ask.
