What are your dolphin settings, which GPU are you using to drive the game?

Dolphin is very CPU intensive. If I remember correctly, the last time I tried running a wii game, after about 5~10 minutes, the cpu throttled down because it was being used so much. That being said, you're running a game cube game and I think I was running super smash bros at 1600*900 with anti-aliasing.
I ended up giving up on dolphin because I didn't have a wii remote and using a ps2 controller was too confusing :D

I've been able to play Mario Kart Wii on my Y410p using Dolphin for quite a few hours, with no slowdowns or throttling.

(yeah my wii fried down so my laptop was the next best thing, but i was able to output to a TV at 1080p with antialiasing. Glorious PC Master Race )

    Hello,

Are the drivers for windows 8.1 x64 on the Lenovo website all up to date? If not then is there another website which have the latest drivers compiled from a community/someone? I noticed most of the drivers listed on the website dates back to October 2013.

For example: My old hp laptop needed drivers after reformatting and the HP's website had outdated drivers so I came to this forum's HP subsection for the latest drivers provided by the community. I was wondering if it's same for the ideapad y410p.

All the drivers on Lenovos site are up to date, except the following, which should be downloaded off the manufacturer:
    - Intel/Nvidia Video Card
    - Intel Wireless Card

    (possibly) Synaptics/ELAN Trackpad

Honestly my y400 worked perfectly with Windows 8.1 using the default drivers. It wasn't until I updated my drivers that issues started cropping up (such as my touchpad's sensitivity being lower and the bluetooth being disabled).

Realtek drivers too? Where can I find the latest ones? I'm assuming it have fixed the memory leak linking to the dolby digital plus feature as mentioned in this thread I made: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/748738-ideapad-y410p-audio-issue.html

Hmm, I install all the lenovo provided drivers after formatting my y410p to windows 8.1 except for the bluetooth and wifi since I just used the one provided from windows update and those seemed to work just fine. Additionally, I used the latest video drivers from intel's and nvidia's websites.

The touchpad (synaptics) drivers provided from the lenovo website worked better than the one from synaptics's website. :)

You also needed to clone the "system reserved" partition that contained the bootloader.

How would I know which one is the partition that contains the bootloader?

Today I received my GN35 650m for the y400, from a site called ShopBLT. Initially I was weary of this site and it's pricing for the card ($133 compared to Lenovo's $229), but my fears have been laid to rest, as it is indeed legitimate.

You can, but it requires a clean install. And probably a larger SSD.

Would anyone know if it is possible to upgrade a 3630QM to a 3940XM? I believe the socket types are the same and that the max TDP is the only difference.

Looking to upgrade, thoughts would be appreciated!

Have you had any luck getting your replacement screen working? I purchased this one: B140RW02 V.2 Replacement Laptop LCD Screen From $49.99 Brand-new screens. and am having the same issue.

What exactly is your issue? Does the screen just not work? Is it displaying discoloured images? What is your BIOS? Is it locked or unlocked?

I planned on ordering that very screen within the next few days. It would be nice if it actually worked.

Upon boot, the colors are messed up and every other vertical line seems to be white. After a few moments, the colors adjust but the white lines stay. Since the new screen has been in place, I have upgraded my BIOS to the unlocked 2.0.4 version (up from locked 2.0.2) but that made no difference. I have continued to do some research into the issue and it appears that the LVDS cable in theY400 is most likely single channel and the new screen requires a dual channel cable. I am working on finding a suitable replacement cable currently.

Hmmm I thought that may be an issue.......
Let me know if you find a suitable dual channel cable.

Well I have ordered an LVDS cable to try but I could only get it from China so it is going to be about a freaking month before I get it since there were no upgraded shipping options... I will try to remember to update this thread after I receive it and attempt to put it in place.

Thanks. What an annoying little detail. So much for upgrading hiccup free.
