That's good to hear - what's the situation with optical drive?
-
-
On the Y70, there's a vent/exhaust port running just in-front of the central hinge of the screen, across the entire length, facing towards the screen, behind the keyboard. Interesting to note whether this is specific to the Y70 or whether the Y50 has this as well. This is as well as the vents on the bottom of the Laptop. The screen on mine is an LG-Philips LP173WF4-SPF1.
Anything else anyone would like to know? -
What's the cooling/fan like?
Also Lenovo confirmed to me that the £999 version doesn't come with an external optical drive, which is irritating. -
Boot-up times with the LITEONIT SSD that comes with it are about 10secs with fast startup disabled (or when you restart your computer), and something like 2 seconds with fast startup enabled. -
Well i've finally managed to get into it to replace the hard drive. I dunno if this is the case for the Y50 as well, but along the bottom plate there were those little plastic tabs, which you have to press in with a plastic tool or plastic knife (as well as undoing the screws of course) to get the thing off.

Has anyone managed to check if there is an MSATA or M.2 Slot available?
-
Here is a link to the full maintenance manual. The only M.2 slot is for the wireless card and no msata.

Hi, has anyone found any full tests of Lenovo y70, or is going to make one on their own?

Unfortunately, there are actually no differences to the 15 inch model. -
Just bought one my self, i'll get it on tuseday.
took the 16 gigs ram with the 1tb+8gb
They dont give you the lenovo portable optical drive here in israel, instead of that they gave me a superslim transcend portable opt drive, kinda nice actually something like 13 mm thickness,
they also added to the package a Red Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400 - thats really nice and red and everything kinda fit the whole thing
and a targus black brifcase bag - nothing special just a simple one but still thats something like 50$ that have been saved
cost me 5700 NIS (about 1525$ usd)
didnt took the one with the ssd because its only 256 and i have crucial 512gb so i thought of making the 1tb as an external drive just bought a nice 2.5 inch usb 3.0 case for like 10$
they really acted stupid with this they defenitly could slide the hard disk a bit more down because you can see that this is an empty place, and by that make a room for m.2
JohnBergqvist, it was hard to replace the hard disk? i dont want to break anything, i saw this maintenance manual, thanks to phage80
and i didnt noticed anything there about plastic tabs they just tell you to unscrew and to pull up -
-
-
-
i think the mention is to not remove the battery but just unplug it from the m.board
John is right what the point to unscrew her and get her out if she is not in your way -
I read in a review that the screen was dim and glossy.
I am going to use the laptop in a variety of locations and being able to read text clearly is important.
What have been your experiences with the y70 touch screen?
Can you test if the laptop will survive being crushed/crammed in a large, overcrowded backpack? I heard that the build quality is not very good.
What would you recommend given what I have said ? -
I've got a short question, what version of HDMI is built in lenovo y70? I guess it's an important question for many of us, because 860m is capable of 4K, and i don't know if the HDMI is, so ?
-
The screen is certainly not dim, and IMO the glass on it doesn't make it overly glossy, especially at full brightness, The screen is certainly an improvement over the Y50. The touch screen seems fine to me. No issues to report there. -
-
But even if Intel Graphics Chip does the work, the image in 4K resolution won't get out of the laptop without the proper HDMI version, and I just can't find this info in any specs of Lenovo y70
-
The Lenovo Y70 Touch (at least the one I have) is *not* 4k. 1920x1080 only.

Sorry to dig up an old(ish) thread, but I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a y70 here in the UK.
The 16GB, 256GB SSD version is currently online here for 999GBP and the Lenovo vat back offer makes this an interesting proposition indeed. Those of you that have it and have been using it for a while now, are you still pleased with the screen? I will mainly be using it for web design work so this is important.
Have there been any issues?
Anyone installed/using win10 tech preview with it?
Thanks! -

I've only had it a couple of days but it's looking pretty good so far. The screen is pretty good and viewing angles are very good as per usual with IPS. I was doing some overclocking on the 860M and managed to get the memory up to 6.3GHz stable (1.3GHz OC!).
I'll play around with the core and ThrottleStop / Intel XTU later. -

I just found this thread searching on google and I just found out that you guys have this laptop and it is equipped with IPS screen right ? Is it Defo IPS 17.3'' ???
I really trying to do one very important experiment !!!
I am fan of one Laptop but it is MSi GS70 2QE.
This laptop is well equipped BUT it has the worst screen in the world !
I just been searching on laptop panels sites various 17.3 screens and i found that identical screen of mine is this LP173WF4-SPF1 and when I searched it on google it leaded me here ..
So screen in MSi GS70 is Chi Mei N173HGE-E11 which is crap .. the viewings are horrible when u open screen fully .. and here on this lenovo I can see beautiful IPS screen
Here are comparisons of screen they have same connector types 30pin both are eDP ..

That appears to be the right screen according to Notebookcheck.net, but keep in mind it does not have anti-glare. It is glossy, but it's a very nice looking screen, and the touch screen is fast and responsive.
