Lenovo est. shipping date - 7/21

I ordered my t61p on 6/16...and the est shipping date is 7/21

I know it'll probably be before this because I did call lenovo customer service and they agreed that that shipping date was a bit off. no duh.

Anyways, I feel like lenovo is using this date a lot for many people.

So does anyone know why lenovo is using this shipping date for lots of people?

Is anyone else having this same shipping date? I hope lots of people are having this same shipping date in order to reassure me that it's not just me.

 

I have the same shipping date. It's obviously to do with the 6-cell battery. Maybe all batteries, i dont know. there was apparently a fire at the plant that makes lenovo's batteries.

I can also tell u that i ordered a dell vostro for a client at work, and that still has not shipped, and i ordered that on may 30th......

So it could be affecting other manufacturers

 

I ordered on Sunday 6/15 and that was my estimated ship date too. Still waiting for them to charge my account and ship it... but since they're estimate is so far off I don't feel like I have a right to call them and complain. I mean they can just say "hey we told you that we would ship it on the 21st of July" So yah, now i'm just playing the waiting game.

 

I gave Lenovo a call today to check about my pending charge, and how it went away today. But all was well, and he told me the laptop was in production and should ship at some point this week......

i ordered a t61p on 6/6 and received it in about 6 days. the ESD was 6/27 though.

 

Hard to believe how fast the distribution delivery system is. Your T61p was order and delivered in SIX days.
I noticed the charge to Lenovo last Wednesday. Checked status that night and saw 'SHIPPED'. I figured I would see my package in about a week. Nope, it was delivered that Friday at 8:57 AM. About 30 hours after my laptop was built, it was in my hands...

 

All batteries are delayed new orders 3 to 4 weeks. This is a bad time to buy then, considering there's only a 5% discount and it would ship around when Centrino 2 models come out.

 

Ordered an R61 on 6/13... ship date still says 6/27. Yes, with six-cell battery. Still hoping.

i think the 7/21 shipping date was used just in case the battery situation was worse than they expected or seomthing

They are. I ordered on 6/1 and the original ship date was 6/16. It has been delayed for many times, and the Lenovo rep was saying to me today that the original ship date is 7/11. Wtf...?

So last week they were saying that it will ship this week. Well, I called on Monday/Tuesday and the rep said its gonna ship on 6/26.

Finally, Thursday comes and I make a call again since I received no tracking or anything like that. The rude dude says the estimate ship date is 6/27 now.

I am telling you, they suck major ass. I am not saying that their products suck, but their service is just horrible. They don't send you an update if your order is delayed, they just do wtf they want.

I should have ordered from Dell.

 

As you can probably tell, Lenovo ship dates are almost always way off. When I ordered my laptop at the beginning of June, the site said that it wasn't going to ship for almost a month. I received the laptop a week after I ordered it.

 

Ugh. So my ship date is 6/27-- today. I get up and check the status---

I've been bumped to 8/01! But hey, my spare power supply should ship on 7/11.

according to the "helpful" lenovo guy, mine should ship at the end of this week..which would be, today. So we'll see.

Heh, must be the standard response. I just hung up with Lenovo and the rep told me the same thing.

Though it was the first time I called customer service anywhere and the person on the other end asked for permission to address me by my first name.

 

Just called lenovo and they're talking about July 9th. This after being told it would ship by saturday. I'm canceling.

 

Wow. Just completely wow. They changed my date to 8/1, but I just received the shipment notification. They projected 6/27 from the start and shipped on 6/28. Can't really complain I guess.

Now, off to newegg for the memory upgrade.

 

When did you order it? My order should have been shipped 6/27 too, but still no news.

what model and specs did you order man? thats a long time. I'm still waiting on a dell vostro that i ordered the 3rd of June... if that makes you feel better?

Some of you guys may want to consider canceling the order and wait until next month when the new models come out.

 

is that confirmed that they will come out next month? I read that the chipsets come out in july, but the laptops won't ship right away...

cipsaz, yeah i don't see what would be holding your order up based on those specs. I assume you've called lenovo and asked them what the hold up is?

 

I called them many times and they said the battery supply was the issue. Doesn't make sense anyway.

 

yeah that was an issue, but when you consider i have the same spec battery in mine, and mine shipped. All while u ordered way before me, and yours is still sitting there.. that doesn't make much sense.

 

I wish I had ordered from Dell. Their service is a lot better than Lenovo..

 

Yeah, I work for a pc repair/consulting company, and we are partners with Dell. They are usually pretty swift with their shipping and telling you whats up with the order. However, I still got a Vostro out there somewhere almost a month after I put in the order for it.

 

Nothing seems to be guaranteed when it comes to computers. But I've read one article that mentioned a July release date on the new R, T & X series. Do a Google search on the Thinkpad R500 and R400 and you'll find some info and specs. I'm seeing WiMax and HD becoming more available in their specs too. Also, Panasonic's CF-52 MRK II is supposed to be released by Aug. 1st, and Durabook's new models sometime during the 3rd quarter. A lot of changes forthcoming, but what else is new since technology is changing soooooo fast.

 

Well, received shipping confirmation.. We'll see.

And UPS will attempt delivery before 10:30 AM. Your Lenovo package will go out on UPS's next day air delivery truck (First, highest priority). If you miss the delivery attempt, UPS will re-try the next business day.

 

That sucks. Nobody is gonna be at home at that time they will attempt to deliver. Wonder if I have a chance to pick it up from UPS store.

 

Call your local terminal with the info from the 'door knocker', and ask for 'your cities' operations. Politely tell the clerk you missed an international next day air delivery, and ask if it is possible to pick up your package at the local service desk. Lenovo has strict instructions to UPS on how their packages are delivered. If the clerk agrees (policy is you sign at point of delivery, no counter pick-up[policy info from 800 # international shipping operator]), bring the 'door knocker' and your ID (driver license).

I am on a first name basis with my local UPS girl . She gave me the local terminal phone and instructions on claiming my package. She even tried to call the next day air driver on his cell for me when I missed mine, but he was off the road already. Said call the terminal and ask to pick it up. The terminal clerk saw no problem with me picking up my package as long as I had proff of missed delivery and proper ID.

On an interesting note, the Dell Vostro i've been waiting on for almost a month Shipped as well. 1 day after the T61 shipped.

 

It's hard to fault the Vostro 1500. Great value, and the screen is 'richer' or more vivid...It is a nice system, but side by side, I still like my T61p better. It just has a higher quality feel to it. I believe I made the right choice. And I have been recommending the Vostro line since it came out last summer. The deals are too hard to ignore. The T61(p) is more the Precision or Latitude line than the Vostro. And so noted if I recommend anything else...
