Wait, is there only a discrete graphics card option for the T400?
no integrated video?

This looks interesting. I will definitely be looking out for more information.

Curse Intel!! I want my Montevina now! Or else I'll have to get the T61!! (I need laptop end of July latest
)

When the new models come out, would Lenovo continue selling the older models? Would they be cheaper? What happened to the older models when Lenovo released newer models before?
-
-
Stupid Intel.
Also, the 3450 is far below the 3650 in terms of performance. The 3650 is equivalent to the 8600M GT while the 3450 is around the 8400M GS... -
what's the price of SL, T and R series?
-
FWIW, the current ThinkPad discounts run through June 30. This also seems to be the longest period such a discount has been offered that I've seen.
-
On the T models, they moved audio plugs from the left side to the front side.. I don't think I would love it.. My girlfriend has her audio plugs on the front side and I'm always held down to hit.. It's not a good move in my opinion.. But I love the HDMI plug

OK Answered my own question:
According to: http://www.small-laptops.com/lenovo-thinkpad-x200/
Available: Possibly July 14, 2008 -
I start school august 15 .... If I were to wait, I assume a t series wouldnt be able to be shipped to me by then? Too much of a risk?
-
http://www.51nb.com/viewnews-38449 - I hope this is not the top notch version?!

Scratch that July date. It's probably in November at the latest. July date is when the chipset officially comes out. A notebook with that chipset wouldn't be released at the same time.
-
gogo2390, I don't think you have to have a new laptop by the time you go back to school. At this point it's probably better to wait for the new model to come out in July.

I don't think the new lines offer LED screens.
But, like someones said above, at this point, definitely wait for the new models. Yes they will probably be a bit more expensive than current models, but note something: The replacement models are replacement models, they are not some new revolutionary model that costs a fortune more. They are intend to replace existing models with newer technology at same price to attain the same market. My estimates are that the new models will be same as list price for current models with out the discounts. Wait a month or 2 for coupons and discounts to settle in and the price will be the same if not cheaper.
The worst feeling has got to be buying a piece of technology for $1K then have it be out of date 2 months later. Have it out of date after 1 year or so is ok, since it's inevitable, but after 2 months, is no good. -
...is this a bad theory? Or is a 1450 dollar thinkpad with a 3 year warranty with accidental a better idea...
This issue bothers me like no other. I see all these cheap laptops at bestbuy, which makes me more reluctant to spend so much more....for what?
(I do need a laptop that will dock, and is 14 inch)
Please help
Thanx -
thanks. come again. -
For what??
Well for me, the efficiency of the new technology got me to be patient and wait. The battery life is not so great on the T61, etc.
With montevina, DDR3, LED backlit display, hybrid vid card, and 9-cell batt option, the new line will be lighter, thinner, and more battery efficient. -
he ended up waiting about 3 weeks to a month after school had already started to get his 2.0 ghz alienware. hell, he was able to use his roommates thinkpad or the school computers in that time so nothing was wrong.
bottomline, he got a better processor and didnt have buyers remorse.
bottomline #2, his roommates thinkpad with an older processor runs better than his alienware. -

i'd say wait and get the monteniva t61. my plan is to get one with my moms ibm discount or to simply get an eepc box + eepc laptop for the price of the discounted thinkpad. -
I missed it, but what screen size does the SL have?
-
-
great, if the will offer the 13.3 or 14.1 with a mate led with wxga+ i will die
-
Just come out already new thinkpads!
-
-
He doesn't know, he's demanding it.
-
ahhh..
compaing x200 with the current x61, i see little differences except for screen size and the processor used
decisions decisions -
- SSD v. not
- Touchpad v. just a nipple
- Screen resolution (good v. too small)
- USB port replicator v. dedicated base
I'm making the same decision as well. My answer is wait for the X200 -
X300 vs X200
64GB SSD vs up to 500GB HD
slow CPU vs fast CPU (P8400 and P8600 CPUs are fast and power efficient)
Medium size vs Smaller size ( great portability)
X3100 GPU vs X4500 GPU (handles blu-ray movies)
no tablet option vs tablet option -
the screen resolution is a good point, the rest arent really a need thou... -

Someone mentioned new line will be thiner...
I don't know about that, from those pics- the ones under the router- the X200 looks thick. Let's hope it's no more than 1.06in! -
Ideally, I'd like a X300 with a faster chip. That's my dream -

X300 should ditch the DVD drive, use fast CPU and a real 500GB hard drive. Then add a DisplayPort.

KUNFUCHOPSTICKS Notebook Consultant
OKto my surprise that 64GB SSD in the x300 is $1500, which ridiculous. The X300 would be less than $1400 with out it!
-
SSD drains as much power as a real HD. Google it.
-
this is false. read the SSD thread.
-
I really want the X200 for portability, but can't sacrifice the built-in optical drive - I owned an ultraportable before and even for the handful of times a month I required it, hauling an external around negated the portability of the system overall. If I didn't need the optical, the X200 would seem a no-brainer. This is what leaves me wanting a more powerful X300 (or something similar). -
A slim USB DVD drive only cost $100, and it is light and small. $100 is far less than the extra you will pay for a $2500 X300.
If bringing a slim drive is not convenient, just buy two cheap external DVD drives for $50 each, one for work, one for home. I hardly use DVD drive these days, because I store everything on gigantic hard drives.
