It is actually confirmed by someone in Thailand who has this device with the ATI 5650!
-
And how does one switch? I hope it doesn't require a log off or restart. -
Nope, don't think so.
It was some Thai-site, i guess. Found it through the chinese forum.
It was a short evaluation of the device.
He showed the Windows Perfomance Index with the 5650 and then the IntelHD.
He didn't say whether how the switch works.
But it is def. a switchable solution (unless he faked everything). -
Still can't find any hands-on reviews of this guy, must not be selling very well (hence the price drop I'd guess).
Does anyone know the answer to my previously posted question - Also, does anyone know if the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1GB actually has 1GB of RAM or is it using some of the 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz system memory as virtual gfx memory? -
It will definitely be dedicated.
-
well guys at the end of the month im going to take the plunge and ill probly try my best to put a review up myself for all of you guys (my first one

Thanks Raptop5150! Look forward to reading your review.
-
hehe your welcome i look forward to making it
-
I'll be joining you Raptor.
Pulled the trigger on the Y460 with ATI 5650.
$1010 after taxes, shipping and discounts -
Good luck on your orders.
Can you guys check to see if you have options to enable VT when you get them. -
anyone know what kind of sale is going on with the y460s and how long it will last? also curious why they are putting it on sale when it really isnt out yet? did they realized it was a lil overpriced
-
Hey Raptor. Do me a favor.
When you click on the order status, do you see a "Est. Ship Date". Mine is blank :?
And the status says "In Process"
I am wondering whether the corporate discount I applied for has pushed me to the back of the line, pending verification or something. -
USD 150 off the ATI 5650 version.
They probably realized it was overpriced. And it must be a normal marketing tactic to discount it very quickly. All of us love bargains -
Dell's Vostro 3400 looks decent, Nvidia® Geforce™ 310M, 512MB Graphics but 7200 RPM HDD...
http://www.dell.com/content/topics/topic.aspx/us/segments/bsd/vostro-3400?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd
Anyone know how the 310M compares to the 5650? -
who knows information about y560's price(with hd5730)?and when will be sold?
-
I might as well say the G310M doesn't compare to the HD 5650, not to mention the Vostro You mentioned is equiped with a GPU that has 512 Mb deidcated RAM, while the Lenovo Y460's HD 5650 has twice the dedicated RAM. -
the 330GT is 3-4 times faster then the 310. The 5650 is around 20-30% faster then the 330GT. So yes, the 5650 is a load faster!
-
not to mention directx 11
-
Whoa good to know, thanks guys.
-
The product description doesn't seem to match up with the ordering side of things too well, does it? On the description side, I see blu-ray, an i7, and some sort of RapidDrive hybrid SSD/HDD thing-- but when you go to order, none of these things are even available. What gives?
-
just waiting on selling my netbook... and getting money from my 2g iphone then i should have enough to down pay with bill me later and pay the rest of the 300$ off in the 6 month period... so rock you might get the laptop before me its officially a race whomever gets the y460 first does the review!!
ITS ON!xD
-
More reviews the better!
Any updates from Lenovo on expected ship date? I may have to pull the trigger too if they're shipping them fast (doubtful). -
idc bill me later is paying xD well 400 of it i mean...
-
battery life? and size demensions? are they available anywhere?
-
Here's what customer support told me:
Customer: Do you know the dimensions of it?
Customer: And possibly the weight and battery life
Chandra Shekar N: Sure. I can help you.
Chandra Shekar N: Y460
Chandra Shekar N: Dimensions - ( ): 13.4" x 9.3" x 0.8" to 1.3"; 340mm x 235mm x 20mm to 32.8mm
Chandra Shekar N: Y460 weight -* with optical drive and battery: 6-cell: 4.71 lb (2.1 kg)
Chandra Shekar N: Y460 Battery - life upto 4 hours -
Next time I want to ask if they have individual battery numbers for graphics switched on and with it off. I'm guessing the "upto 4 hours" is the "graphics off" number.
-
sorry song stuck in my head...idk google? u can find them... its a 14" about like 4.7- 5.4 pounds i think... -
-
hey Raptor.
I have PMed you. Would be great to hear back. -
Up to 4 hours? That seems kind of low seeing as there's a switchable graphics solution.
How I would love to see this switchable graphics system and the ATI Radeon 5650 implemented in the T510 -
so i dont know yet your on your own
im waiting till i sell this crappy 1000HE...i got 250 in the bank already so that plus 350 then selling my iphone 2g for 100$ which gives me a grand total of 700 and then i click the buy button
then ill let you know
-
Perfect. Let me know when you click the button. If you don't change your mind
Best of luck getting the funds. -
thats a disappointment actually, hope thats w/ 5650 switched on. -
-
Is there a way to swap the Fn and Ctrl keys in the BIOS for the y460?
-
There's a thread on this here: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad...LL-Ideapads-Fn-lt-gt-Ctrl-key-swap/m-p/141168
They did it for the..
Y450: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad...wap-on-Lenovo-Y450-keyboard-SOLVED/m-p/198369
and Y550P http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad...ap-on-Lenovo-Y550P-keyboard-SOLVED/m-p/207220
You could probably ask "middleton" to make a Y460 version as well. -
On the lenovo canada web site, I can see a video of Y460, but I can't buy or preorder it
when should be available ?
-
there is nothing we can do....import it man...
-
I hope it hasn't been posted yet

I've been watching this thread, and I think that I am going to get this laptop, but I am worried about the heat issues. The foreign-language review just posted doesn't give that many details about where exactly the heat is located, and I know that it was an issue near the touchpad in the Y450. Hopefully one of you who is buying the Y460 now will post a good review...
-
or see if i cant find a fan controller program and blast that baby on high everytime im gaming...
-
Why the hell does that say i5 430M??? -

cause the cake is a lie... -
As far as size goes, I'm thinking of, at the very least, 128GB. I looked around on Newegg briefly and found some decent models, but does anyone on here recommend a particluar brand/model other than the Intel SSDs? I'd love to get an Intel 160GB, but they're just too expensive. -
I was a little surprised to see the Memory as the limiting factor.
I'm not worried about performance of the HDD so much as I am about the heat.. I hate when my current laptop gets hot in my lap. -
Hm... the Y460 is running a little too hot for my taste.
I hope the Y560 has a better cooling solution. -
Its not gonna be burning your legs off at idle or just browsing the web on the intel gpu... when ur full bore playing bad company 2 or somthing sit at a desk or have somthing on your legs.... not all that hard... this is perfect for me and nothing will change my mind about buying this beast..
