Good stuff! Is he on this thread?

And how does one switch? I hope it doesn't require a log off or restart.

    Nope, don't think so.
It was some Thai-site, i guess. Found it through the chinese forum.
It was a short evaluation of the device.
He showed the Windows Perfomance Index with the 5650 and then the IntelHD.
He didn't say whether how the switch works.

But it is def. a switchable solution (unless he faked everything).

Still can't find any hands-on reviews of this guy, must not be selling very well (hence the price drop I'd guess).

Does anyone know the answer to my previously posted question - Also, does anyone know if the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1GB actually has 1GB of RAM or is it using some of the 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz system memory as virtual gfx memory?

Hey Raptor. Do me a favor.

When you click on the order status, do you see a "Est. Ship Date". Mine is blank :?

And the status says "In Process"

I am wondering whether the corporate discount I applied for has pushed me to the back of the line, pending verification or something.

USD 150 off the ATI 5650 version.

They probably realized it was overpriced. And it must be a normal marketing tactic to discount it very quickly. All of us love bargains :)

The HD 5650 is far more powerful than the G310M is. The G310M is a top Class 3 (low class) GPU, while the HD 5650 is a top Class 2 GPU.

I might as well say the G310M doesn't compare to the HD 5650, not to mention the Vostro You mentioned is equiped with a GPU that has 512 Mb deidcated RAM, while the Lenovo Y460's HD 5650 has twice the dedicated RAM.

the 330GT is 3-4 times faster then the 310. The 5650 is around 20-30% faster then the 330GT. So yes, the 5650 is a load faster!

The product description doesn't seem to match up with the ordering side of things too well, does it? On the description side, I see blu-ray, an i7, and some sort of RapidDrive hybrid SSD/HDD thing-- but when you go to order, none of these things are even available. What gives?

Any updates from Lenovo on expected ship date? I may have to pull the trigger too if they're shipping them fast (doubtful).

Next time I want to ask if they have individual battery numbers for graphics switched on and with it off. I'm guessing the "upto 4 hours" is the "graphics off" number.

Up to 4 hours? That seems kind of low seeing as there's a switchable graphics solution.

How I would love to see this switchable graphics system and the ATI Radeon 5650 implemented in the T510

I've been watching this thread, and I think that I am going to get this laptop, but I am worried about the heat issues. The foreign-language review just posted doesn't give that many details about where exactly the heat is located, and I know that it was an issue near the touchpad in the Y450. Hopefully one of you who is buying the Y460 now will post a good review...

Do you think that it would get hot with normal use for multitasking? That is pretty much all that I am going to be doing (don't bash me for getting a laptop with gaming specs for multitasking, I want a fast one).

Since the IdeaPads aren't launching with RapidDrive, I'm thinking of swapping out the 5400rpm hdd it ships with and replacing it with a SSD like Ober mentioned here. Its disappointing my Y560 won't have the storage AND the speed that RD promises, but I refuse to wait until Fall of this year for that feature. Now the problem I face is trying to find a reasonably priced SSD with suffcient storage.

As far as size goes, I'm thinking of, at the very least, 128GB. I looked around on Newegg briefly and found some decent models, but does anyone on here recommend a particluar brand/model other than the Intel SSDs? I'd love to get an Intel 160GB, but they're just too expensive.

I was a little surprised to see the Memory as the limiting factor.

I'm not worried about performance of the HDD so much as I am about the heat.. I hate when my current laptop gets hot in my lap.
