Lenovo doesn't manufacture the screens. Consumers have to accept 16:9 ration sooner or later. It is very sad indeed but we can only adapt to it in this case. Instead of complaining about it, why not accept the reality as it is?

Lenovo makes millions of laptops every year. They are a major player in the market. They are the "customer" of the screen makers and if they want 16:10 then they can get it. It will just cost more. But exclusively selling 16:10 laptops would have its benefits.

95% of laptop consumers probably don't know or care about the difference between 16:10 and 16:9 screens, so chances are even if such an arrangement were possible, it would not make economic sense.

they are the customer, yes, and they do sell a ton of laptops each year, but they arnt everything. they compete with dell, hp, acer, msi, asus, and w/e. while they do sell a lot, it is not an overwhelming proportion that sways the tide.

either way, they cant change what i want, and what i want is 16:10. infact, id take like 10:16 :p. itd be so nice for essays/webpages/nearly everything :)

also, ive been reading the latest posts on the gpu, that tangent kind of ended and i want to revive it. I WANT THEM TO USE THE NEW ATI SERIES!!!! lol i like the crappy x1300 i have right now in my t60. i like being able to throttle it down a lot when on bat and then crank it up A LOT when playing a game to triple (at least) my fps. Ive had a couple nvidia gpu's and never liked thier control pannel thing so ya and I feel like ati's comin around the corner now, so if anything, do a refresh with them? im down

If you really want 10:16 just get a 16:10 external and tilt it vertical.

cn_habs, consumer crying works once the numbers are big enough to impact sales. Sadly, there's not enough people to which aspect ratio matters, but that doesn't mean we have to like it. Change comes about by people not accepting the current reality.

And Lenovo has a overproportional amount of customers of the 5% that do. Major sellers like Acer or Asus don't.

He probably does already. But that's not an option for working on a notebook.

You'd need a 17" screen just to have enough width to fit a netbook sized keyboard....see how nice you think it is typing an essay on that.

"The W510 also has added an optional color calibrator, first debuted in the ThinkPad W700 mobile workstation, to help ensure the most accurate colors on its high gamut full high definition screen."

The continue to use big esc del keys :(

I got used to not cenetred screens ... its really easy to adjust to that with time ...

Laptops will now be very huge, very wide ...

Bezels now will be really fat especially at the bottom

wow, slice battery and usb 3.0, I love this W510. But why can't they put a backlight keyboard to make it perfect? Still waiting for the details on the graphic card.

It appears as if the W510 may not have a 16:9 screen like the T510. Is Lenovo finally making the W series its own "model" and not just a T series with better graphics?

If you look at how much larger the distance between the keyboard and the end of the laptop is on the W510 compared to the T510 / T410, but the distance from the screen to the bezel is about the same. And I know the picture of the T410 / T510 is a T510 because if you right click on the image and do "save image as" its name is "T510_02_300.jpg".

really hope they use a panel with decent contrast ratio on T510/W510. 16:9 aspect ratio + high resolution + decent contrast panel might put my current T400s into early retirement.

I'm out if that is true.
Anyone thinking about sending them a "thank you" letter including a copied bill of a different brand laptop?

Not so sure if tons of wiring and leds are spill proof or resistant...

Pictures look pretty identical except of the W510/T510 label

The other pics of the T series show the T410...jep, fooled me, too :D
(the embedded picture is the T410, as it's name is T410_06_300.jpg!)

The first and second picture for the T410/T510 line up are for the T410 (the one your screen cap is showing has the filename T410_06_300.jpg). The third and fourth pic are of the T510 and if you compare the third pic to the third pic of the W510 they look identical.

Just an kind of offtopic question but how good is Lenovo with supporting older laptops. I've got an T400s which is not that old (I think?) but when T410(s) releases that one will get a lot of support, won't it? Should I be worried? Because the T400s still needs some fixes.

any news if the t410 will have a displayport? (or if the displayport will support digital audio this time around) - I'd prefer 14", especially if they offer it as 16:10 still, but would really like a dp/hdmi

If you have a 9 cell main battery and a 9 cell battery strapped underneath the notebook (total 18 cells and ≈ 160 WHr of charge) that would seem attainable with the right settings. I know Dell claimed something around 18 hours for the E6400 with the slice battery. Of course the w510 would probably weigh about nine pounds in this scenario.

This could indicate that Lenovo is not going to use the rear-battery-placement anymore, instead going with the T400s and X301's battery style... which means an extended battery will be a slice battery.

Or it could mean that there will be an additional battery available, like those on the Dell E-series and the HP Elitebooks.

That has to be a typo. They would get killed by Dell and HP. The W510 has to at least have the option of the i7 quads to compete.

You think they could have tapered the edges of the x100e more. It really looks like a pretty dated black box from some views a la the 310ED.

im really liking the look of that edge but its not something i would get so ya :p.

as for the t410, "Optional easy-to-use touch screen " ? touch screen? ????? lol god sounds like lenovo went off the deep end this round. 16:9 + touch lolllll.

i know what imma be checking out the 7th :) right now we are all if's so ya...
    main concerns for me are

cpu: but thats our most solid fact :p
    gpu:speculations/leaks
    usb 3.0?
    hdmi?
and i really hope the pic of the t410 was the t510 cuz that gap on the outer edge of the keyboard looks TERRIBLE imo. my t60 looks way better than that.
