My biggest concern wouldn't be so much price protection (they match lower price within 21 days right? Of shipping or ordering?), but what if the prices on some component upgrades drop? I would have to return the laptop and rebuy if, let's say, I wanted the 4MB L2 cache and the price on that upgrade dropped quite a bit.
If I had ordered last week I probably could've gotten a processor upgrade for the same price I would pay today.

I don't read tea leaves. But historically there have been good offers in August by a number of manufacturers. Especially Lenovo last year, which was their first year. Who knows about a repeat.
Someone noted that Memorial Day was cheaper than Independance Day. True, but 2 weeks later there was the lowest prices of the year (so far). An educated guess is that there'll be some lower prices again no later than Labor Day. -
Hi SkiBunny. Thanks for the info. Yes, I figured that was what you meant when you made that suckers comment.
Frankly, as is, I'm pretty satisfied with Lenovo pricing, so I'm just waiting for my Amex card to come in next week.
I really don't intend chasing the best deal from here to eternity.
btw, I wasn't being sarcastic (in your direction) when I asked does anyone round here read tea leaves, and if it came off as such, my apologies. -
Visa Perks is useful for Canadian.
ThinkPad T Series - 64575KU is $3,149.00 CAD.
Intel® Core 2 Duo T7700 - 2400MHz Genuine Windows Vista Ultimate 2048MB(1SODIMM) 100GB DVD Recordable (Dual Layer) 24X Max Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG (802.11a disabled)
But if you go through the website of visa perks, the price of the same model is $2676.65 CAD. It is a huge saving! -
Updated. And with bad news.

Hey does anybody know where/how does Lenovo release their ecoupons...? I know it's listed on the spp site but besides that one...
-
-
Bad news is that the coupon expired.
-
Also, FW has claimed that using SPP, EPP, or any other promo voids FW cashback. I'm not sure if this is true or if FW is just covering their butts in case the commission doesn't come through to them (and in turn to the FW member). See this post for a moderator comment immediately after the OP:
FW LINK

My first post here....
Just to let you know - I bought my laptop two weeks ago in the EPP website AND the ecoupon. This was the previous ecoupon though.
And a short question if I may - someone mentioned here that I have a price protection on my laptop. Can you elaborate on that? I mean, with Lenovo's prices dropping each day, can I call them and get a refund for the difference? -
-
Not true at all.
I recieved cashback using spp and (sxga free) coupon. -
Thanks.

Updated with new AMEX promotion
-
It seems the new Amex promotion is not stackable with FW, since both are activated by a click. If anyone finds the contrary please let us know.
Also, it actually says " up to 28%... and up to 25%", actual discount is much less, as far as I have checked. -
-
Question: to get Tailormade discount, must we go to Lenovo site directly from Tailormade site (like FW)?
-
wearetheborg Notebook Virtuoso
-
Thanks for the reply
-
For tailormade AmEx, the card gets credited for the money you saved. So, you don't see the actual discount when you check out. Do you know when this saved amount displays in the Tailormade site as it is suppose to? I read somewhere that it's suppose to display your savings in the tailormade website.
-
Playmaker, time to take the Tailormade program off the list. It's expired.
Does one really have to use .edu email address to use the educational discounts, even if you can prove you are educational? -
Alternatively.
You're getting a dell dude. -
Will I still get the Tailormade discount even if my order hasn't shipped yet, but still orded mid-July?
-
I was wondering, are the summer 10% or future 10% savings sackable with the EDUCATION discount of 5%?
-
What's the summer 10%? Is that a new discount or just the Lenovo sale as usual?
-
There was a summer 10% discount offered. The discount terminated on July 27th.
-
Then do a search on Lenovo, to see what kicks back.
That way, no need for you to find out about coupons after they've expired. -
-
I was well aware of the 10% coupon through tech bargains, I did not try out the 5% education discount in conjunction with it before July 27th. NOW, someone, please answer my question!
-
-
Did those coupons always start at the beginning of the month?
-
Thus, my ref to Techbargains was for his benefit, NOT yours, since you obviously knew where to find such coupons. -
-
if your order didn't ship out by the end of Amex Tailormade, does that mean you won't receive the Tailormade cash back?
-
Sorry for my impatient attitude there, ArchAngle.
-
This is the answer I received today from Amex tailormade. I placed an order July 27.
"Thank you for your inquiry, due to placing the order prior to the August 1st
deadline, you shall be getting the 10%. The discount is applied to the date of
the purchase." -
Since the AMEX promotion and FW can't be used together, according to my calculation AMEX saves a bit more money than FW. Can anyone confirm?
-
Are there any Canadian discounts (besides the Visa Perks)? Can Canadians use the Fat Wallet discount too?
-
-
You can use greatcanadianrebates.ca (1% cashback) and the Canadian Fatwallet site though.
If you want to use FatWallet cashback you must place an order from the American Lenovo website which will require an American credit card and shipping address. Also, unless the product you order has an International warranty, you will not have a warranty on your American purchased product in Canada. -
I have a question about using Fat Wallet: if after you entered Lenovo site from FW and configured your system, then you convert it to quote, then one or more days later you convert the quote to order, will the Fat Wallet be still effective? (IOW you are not going directly from FW to order.)

UPDATE: There is a new coupon. 10% off. However I don't think this is stackable.
USPTAXFREE -
Good find. Is there an exp. date? Has it to do with this tax free weekend for some states (which expires today?)?
-
-
Can't get that darn code to work...
