Thanks, but the link to the update from Lenovo's site is bad. Any other way?
-
I tried googling - found this:

Hope it works. -
Finally got my first ever thinpad/laptop. LOVE IT.
BTW, anyone know where I could download AVG anti-spyware free version. I went to their site and it keeps linking me to AVG anti-virus instead of spyware. -
Scroll to the very bottom of the page:

I got my T60 today. I am very happy with the quality of the machine. Only problem I am having is with the wireless. It can find my wireless network but can't seem to get an ip address. I have tried numerous configurations without luck. I am able to connect to the wireless router with another computer without problem. I have not discounted that the problem is with my router configuration. I have the intel pro wireless card. I am going to start searching to find about this problem.
-
Is your signal strength low or something? I am using the Atheros card in mine and with Access Connections it works just fine. I am not sure how Lenovo handles the Intel cards, as in if you have Access Connections AND Intel's own PRO/Set wireless software.
-
Do you have the newest drivers? I know my T60 wasn't shipped with the latest drivers (thanks, acaurora), but I also have the Atheros card, with which I had no problems.
-
Signal strength is 100%. I am downloading all the updates now so I will see if that does the trick.
-
Overall I must say though, I am very happy with how this thread has turned out. It has been very informational and on topic for nearly 12 pages
...

I updated and am now connected through my wireless network
. I am very grateful for this thread. It has been a source of hope when I thought my thinkpad would never ship. It has given me a place to express my frustration when I thought Lenovo was trying to screw me and now it is a place to express my joy with how nice it is to finally be typing on a brand new Thinkpad T60. I couldn't be happier with my machine and I must say it was worth the wait.
-
I'm glad this thread helped! It was definitely worth the wait for me! I also think that Lenovo is starting to straighten out their shipping and whatnot, though mightaswell had a worse experience than myself I think in terms of waiting. Lenovo has also been very helpful in price adjusting for me.

I got my first ever thinkpad yesterday morning. I just love it. Everything is good except for one thing. When I scroll there seems to be a high pitch noise coming out near the heat sink. This problem is very common among new laptops. Hopefully there will a be a solution soon.
One more dumb question, where do I update my video driver? I went to ATI website, and looks like they don't support Lenovo. Do I just download a newer version of Catalyst Control? -
I'm glad that the updates helped you, mightaswell.
as for z_24, you can download it @ http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/index.html - it will always download the latest version.
The high pitched noise thing you may want to do this - go to your device manager, and under every USB Root Hub, uncheck 'turn off this device to save power', or whichever option that is checked. That worked for me. -
Yaaaay! My T60 shipped today. Now let's see how long it takes to get to Maryland.
-
It probably will take 3-5 days. I'm in CA and it took them 4 days to get to me. You never know, UPS is FAST
, although FedEx(which Lenovo doesn't use) is fastER

Oh =[ sorry to hear that. Meh well I"m sure in most environments you wont be hearing it *that* loud... at least it wasn't that loud for me when it did that.

Looks like I got the Samsung LCD and the NMB keyboard.
13N7058 13N7059 14.1 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU YES
39T0928 39T0958 KEYBOARD FRU YES -
Sorry to hear about the LCD. I have heard that if you call them and say that you are unsatisfied with the LCD they will replace it, although that would involve you having to ship it back to them. (Read a few of the recent posts in this subforum, I remember reading it here). The NMB keyboard is the best, I love it
EDIT: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=109825 -
Are the 14.1" Samsungs as bad as the 15.4" ones? I seem to recall that none of the 14.1" screens were stellar, but none were unbearable as well.

I was just notified yesterday that my T60 was shipped. Already it's in Louisville, but I wonder if this note about the FDA/Dept. of AG is going to hold it up.
LOUISVILLE,KY, US 03/10/2007 3:46 P.M. UPS IS PROCESSING SHIPMENT FOR FUTURE SUBMISSION TO THE FOOD/DRUG ADMIN AND/OR DEPT OF AG PPQ -
Woah! Same thing with my T60, weird, eh?
Hopefully it wont be held up for to long, the wait is killing me -
It means that your laptop is going through customs. It's only supposed to take a couple hours, but it took a couple days for mine (and a bunch of others that were in the same shipment). There's not much you can do, so just be patient and wait it out.

I think its a bit better with the 14's.

I have been on a two week hiatus from work due to a job change and I have been relegated to going to Lenovo's website everyday and hoping to see a change. The anticipated shipping date wasn't until the 18th, so they are ahead of schedule. But, as time went along, I starting searching on Lenovo shipping issues and found a link to this forum.
I placed my order on 2/27 and just received notice that "Billing Information Received" on 3/10. It now seems to have arrived in KY and it has now been submitted to a clearing agency. I would love to have it arrive by the weekend, but my hopes aren't that high right now.
Considering the number of posts and views on this thread of the forum, there must be some considerable frustration in the public over Lenovo's processing and shipping issues. Both from their lack of clarity and the issues with customs once the shipments arrive in the US. From everything I've seen though, once shipments get through the shipment from CN or HK and get through Customs, it is pretty smooth sailing.
I have to assume that some of this is outside of UPS and Lenovo's control as the customs agents would be Federal employees. Given that, I don't have that high of expectations for their timeliness and accuracy. However, the status indications at Lenovo's websites aren't very detailed and leave much to be desired. I have a Dell right now, and I loved how they gave great detail on the status of my computer build.
With all of that said, I trust that the process will have been worth the wait. I had the pleasure of working on a T43 for work during the past year. The Processor and RAM were not that great, but I loved the size, simplicity and reliability. As previous posters have stated, I am foaming at the mouth at this point in time. I feel like a kid at Christmas time.
Ill be sure to return once I get my T60 and have a chance to get it set-up. -
That's great to hear. The weird thing is that there are a lot of people I have seen who have had to wait to be cleared during shipment, whereas there have only been a few that I've seen, myself included, that did not have to wait to be cleared. Mine came in 4 days without being held up anywhere (I ordered mine on 2/10, it shipped towards the end of the month)
-
Yes, yours and mine both. I don't recall mine ever going to KY, though it does seem like most shipments from Lenovo head there for anywhere between 2-6 days before being shipped out actross the country. Hopefully your wait won't be long!
-
Well, my wait just got longer. UPS tried to deliver my package today and I wasn't there. I tried to call UPS and change it to a pick up at their depot, but they said that they couldn't allow it due to Lenovo restrictions. I also confirmed that I had to be present to sign, even though the UPS delivery person did not indicate so on my InfoNotice.
I called Lenovo and they indicated that they would put in a request to shipping to change my order. The problem is that the request had to go through their shipping department and that it couldn't be confirmed for 24 hours. Making matters worse, UPS isn't open on Saturdays so I may have to wait all weekend if the request doesn't go through by tomorrow afternoon.
A further frustration is that the order was shipped in two packages and I was given two different tracking numbers. However, when I contacted Lenovo, they said that they were only aware of one. The customer service woman that I talked to kindof got an attitude when I told her that two existed. I responded back rather curtly and gladly provided her with a the reference number.
I know its not good to lose your cool in such situations, but it was if the lady had no comprehension of the fact that I just dropped $2k on a computer and had already been waiting 3 weeks only to face another delay. Also, since I just started a new job today, I am not at liberty to start asking for time off so that I can go and pick up a shipment at my home. Had Lenovo shipped the item the day they billed my account, this wouldn't be an issue. Now however, I may not end up getting my package for another 4 days. -
Hmm, that's odd. I also missed the first delivery, which was a Monday, and called the UPS depot that was about 30 minutes away and they told me that they would check to see and call me back. About 15 minutes later, they called and told me that the truck that had mine had returned already (this was around 4 o'clock in the afternoon, the package delivery attempt was at about 10 in the morning) and that I could go pick it up, so I did. Maybe you can try calling the UPS store again? And sorry, but I don't know anything about your two different package shipments.
Shipping from lenovo?
