Reviews won't come immediately - for example, this site's review of the T431s was only published this August!

Yes. The T431s has/had few reviews. However, the T431s was barely advertised. THe T440s on the other hand has tons of news announcements so many people/sites are expecting it.

Anyone ordered the -5-4300U, AC wireless, and FHD (non touch display) what was your order date and estimated ship date?

I ordered that configuration on 11/2, initial estimated ship date was 11/25 but it was then revised to 11/11 and then 11/13. So hopefully in a couple days I'll know if they were right the third time lol. Incidentally I feel like this configuration is the best "default" no compromises build, assuming you intend to upgrade the RAM yourself. FHD is a must, 4300U gives you a bit of performance and some useful enterprise features without breaking the bank, and wifi AC just future proofs it a bit.

My exact thinking. Need the enterprise features just in case I am allowed to use this for future job and need help through IT at school (remote desktop?>) and AC wifi for the future. FHD is why I waited all these months. My estimated ship date is 12/2/13. I ordered Thursday 11/8/13 and I am currently in "Released to Manufacturing." We will see.

Got my machine, pretty happy with it. Annoyed that windows requires me to log in and log out to change the scaling when I plug into an external monitor that's not FHD.
One I really wish I could do is use the trackpoint with tap to click, but it seems like using the trackpoint disables the feature, even when it's working fine when I just use the touchpad. Pushing the whole touchpad down with the side of my thumb is getting really annoying and tiring.

Well, keep working your thumb and it will one day become natural. Past ThinkPad users had to press the TrackPoint button down. I would also say that tap to click is bad for TrackPoint users since we tend to rest our finger on the buttons.

Oh, the UK gets the nVidia option. Thats surprising, I thought they will leave this to the Asian-market. Very interessting.

It'll be interesting to see if Canada gets anything interesting (although I do realize that we usually get fewer features, priced stupidly high). Also like usual, the Canadian site is the VERY LAST to be updated with a new model, so it'll probably be a few weeks yet.

And the option is reasonably priced since it comes with a CPU (and WiFi) upgrade.

The battery life isn't likely to be good with the nVidia card active though.

For those ordering the M.2 MyDigitalSSD, take note that it's currently not working as a boot drive with UEFI BIOS. You have to set your BIOS to legacy mode according to the company.
They won't come out with a 256 GB model any time soon, so don't wait for a larger capacity.

I don't think it's been mentioned that the M.2 drives use considerably less power than the 2.5" ones, so there should be a slight increase in battery life.

As soon as you unplug your charger, the screen blinks and the nVidia card shuts off, switching to the Intel graphics. Battery life shouldn't be affected by the nVidia card unless you do something to activate it again. I'm not sure if it switches back over if you begin pushing it enough, like with a game.

No, I think I'll blame Lenovo thanks. £1109.99 for the base model is $1765.29. So let's add 20% VAT onto the US base model of $1199.00, we get $1438.80. The UK version is almost $350 more.

Dell pretty much manage it. XPS 15 base £1249, so $1986.15. Adding VAT onto the US base ($1579.99) gives $1895.988. $90 difference - It's not exactly the same but I can live with that (especially as it's on a more-expensive product). It's a quarter of Lenovo's Screw Europe tax.

Yeah it has been noted for some time that Lenovo prices in Europe are far higher than those in the US even when factoring VAT. Ironically I heard the prices are even worst in China even though its manufactured there.

If I was to purchase a ThinkPad I would import it from the US (look for Lenovo Authorised Sellers on places like eBay) and you can substantially undercut Lenovo’s European prices particularly on higher spec models. Even when factoring in things like Customs (VAT), Correct Power Adapter (Cloverleaf plug end over here is like £2-3) and domestic keyboard (about £20) I still saved over £400 the last time I checked on one machine.

Has anyone else noticed that the option for the "double"16 GB M.2 SSD subtracts $10 instead of adds $40 now? What in the world is going on here?

Can anyone clarify what the difference between the single and double options actually is? Does it add another M.2 SSD? Does it make the slot double-sided? This makes no sense.

You know, now I'm wishing I had ordered this option just so that we could find out. Well, now that it's actually cheaper can someone here order one with it for the good of all? My guess was that since it removes the 3rd slot option it means that there would be 2x16gb drives, or if it really is supposed to be cheaper then maybe 2x8gb, but either way filling up the extra slot.

Hey, at least the snafu saves you money! Compare to the T440p configurator that, for over a week, was forcing everyone to buy 15 months of Norton Antivirus and slapping $30 onto the base price as a result. They finally fixed that one.

The general consensus is that a double M.2 cache slot will result in the machine having only two rather than three M.2 slots (eliminating the "system expansion slots" option of a "third M.2 SSD slot") by giving one of those slots enough depth to take double-sided M.2 cards (which are 2-3mm thicker than single-sided). Higher-capacity M.2 SSD cards tend to be double sided.

That's the consensus? Unless there is evidence to back it up, I am pretty skeptical about that. It seems a lot more likely to me that they would just populate 2 slots rather than doubling the size of one slot and removing another slot. They are not going to want to have two different board designs if they can avoid it, since it complicates replacements and repairs and reduces the economy of scale.

Well, I can't do that because I have homework to do, but I should have really just taken your advice and ignored it. My estimated ship date just got pushed way back to 11/25 (from 11/13) :( . Don't understand how someone else here ordered the exact same configuration as me two days later and theirs already shipped, while mine suddenly got pushed back to the original estimated ship date after being moved up a couple weeks. I can only imagine that either they lied and forgot to actually send my order to manufacturing or they're just behind schedule and being really conservative about their estimates to avoid disappointment in the future.

On the UK version if you don't select the NGFF SSD then you get the option of a smart card reader.

No info available on whether selecting that removes the NGFF slots, etc, etc.

Hi everyone! First time poster here :)
I am looking for a new laptop since my Dell m1330 died recently and the t440s is on my shortlist. I will mainly use it for photos sorting/editing on the go with lightroom. I have a few questions regarding the configuration options and I was hoping you could answer them.

1/ Where I live (France) we have the nvidia dgpu version. I am thinking of getting it because I read that when the integrated GPU is being used, the CPU clockspeed is automatically reduced decreasing the overrall performance. I assume that with the dgpu the CPU will be able to run at full speed then. Am I right?

2/ We also have the option to not get the 16gb m.2 drive. Since I intend to replace the main hard drive with an SSD, I do no need it, right?

3/ Finally there is an option for a slim power adapter. Any experience with it? Is it reliable? I checked the price when bought separately and it's actually cheaper than the standard one so it makes me wonder...

    Thanks!

I hope that it will be the same for me. Mine was supposed to ship yesterday and now it says 11/25 which I find totally unacceptable. I'll cancel my order and won't buy from Lenovo again if that's the case. Plenty of similar or better computers you can buy for this premium price.
Really Lenovo can't seem to ever get anything right anymore. disapointing.

Not in Switzerland, you can't. The lenovo.com/ch homepage has some debug information in the top-left corner, the menu is messed up, and when you click to view the T series the page times out.

It's far from encouraging. One has trouble imagining the Apple store having such a problem.

I had the exact same thought running through my head. If they really shipped orders out to people who ordered after me, and made me wait weeks longer, I'd just return the thing and buy from a competitor. However...

    It finally shipped today.

What I really think happens is that people who order thru reps get their orders faster. I think the reps, or some reps at least, put the orders in as rush orders and their customers get em quicker.
