Yeah, when mine shipped I had the same random extra 12 day delay and then someone who ordered on the same day as me had theirs shipped so I was annoyed for a few hours and then mine shipped too. The thing you have to come to terms with is that everything is just an estimate from Lenovo and they just seem to really suck at tracking and predicting when your laptop will ship. It won't show you any extra information until the thing is actually shipped. You might get a charge on your bank account before the system updates but I'm not sure (I think mine actually was charged after it changed to shipped).
-
-
I think mine was about five business days. Actually that part was also aggravating because it sat around in China for 3 days waiting for export processing or something (as shown on FedEx anyway) and then it actually only took two days to get to me once it left China. I think they give you free expedited shipping, not sure.
-
Yeah mine shipped via UPS expedited. They still haven't received the actual package yet.
-
Same here. Order status changed to shipped on 10th but UPS still doesn't have it. I wonder if they send out in batches.
-
Well, good to hear I am not the only one. I suspect you are correct about the multiple holds, or maybe it has something to do with fraud prevention.
-
Hey everyone, new member here. I'm just posting to let you know I'm also on the T440s bandwagon
I ordered mine (4300U, FHD, no touch) last monday. I'll be running Arch Linux on it.
Does anyone know if the Trackpoint has the "Press-to-Select" option? -
This is a goddam joke. They just delayed my ship date for the second time to the 25th of December. Original ship date was 4th Dec, changed that to 16th Dec and now its 25th Dec. Guys, check your order/ship dates as well.
-
Maybe Lenovo is withholding shipments until they re-glued all the display bevels?
-
Same thing here, I even feel like cancelling my order.
I'm about to cancel my order, such a let down -
To add to these tales of woe, my order shipping date was this morning moved to 25 December (from 11 Dec.).
But if I cancelled, I would only have to re-order after I calmed down
-
I guess I was lucky then, but I still wouldn't take that estimate seriously. It will probably take another 1-2 days for you guys.
-
Thors.Hammer Notebook Enthusiast
If you cancel, it will ship immediately. -
this is just ridiculous, mine is pushed back to 12/25 as well - I ordered back in 11/30
On the Lenovo website, it said " Get it in time: Orders shipped by 12/20 should arrive by Christmas Eve."
how will I get this on 12/24 when it is going to be shipped on the 25th ?
this is just stupid, I want to cancel my order too, Macbook pro is " available for shipping Within 24 hours"
I feel betrayed by Lenovo, I don't wanna wait 1 month to get my laptop when I paid over $1k+ for it -
Replying to myself because UPS just got the package. It's in Shanghai right now and supposed to get here Tuesday. That will be exactly one day short of a month since I ordered it.
-
I'm about to do the same switch to mbp even though i don't really like Apple.
Lenovo's canadian website doesn't even work, if you go to "my orders" you get a 404, makes me wonder if not on purpose... -
Everyone who has the same issue, please go here and post your concerns about shipping so Lenovo can do something about it :
Re: ThinkPad T series shipping thread - 2013 editi... - Page 5 - Lenovo Community -
Yup, I just posted there. Seems like a bunch of folks might have gotten the delayed shipment notification today.
-
Well I just went ahead and requested an order cancellation, should take up to 5 business days. If they ship until then, fine, otherwise I'm buying something else.
-
What will you buy?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk -
I am very interested in the 850, but how do you know the is IPS/AHVA. I can't find specs anywhere and neither can HP staff. How do you know this isn't a typo? -
I placed my order on 12/8 and have an estimated shipping date of 12/17, which hasn't changed since order date. I'm hoping it sticks, but not looking good based on others experiences.
I did get the Ultra Dock already, so that came quick
If Lenovo pushes out my ship date past the new year, I'm just going to buy a pre-built model. Fingers crossed they start catching up with production since as one person put it, they did have a graphic boasting that any order placed by 12/20 should ship by 12/24.
-
I guarantee you 100% that it won't ship before January. I placed an order on 11/26, with expected ship date 12/6. It's been delayed to 12/17, then to 12/25, with expected arrival date 1/2. Lenovo is blatantly misleading you on their website.
-
Yeah. I ordered November 27th and my estimated was the 12/4 then 12/16 and as of today 12/25. That actually works for me as I just left my apartment and I am no school break. Now I won't have to call Lenovo to change my shipping address. However, if I was in any other situation I would be disappointed. We will see.
-
Will try to find one or something as nice at B&H or J&R, maybe a mbp but idk, not much into apple.
-
My 12/6 order had a ship date of 12/17, and has moved to 12/24 today.
-
I ordered mine on 11/28 with a delivery date of 12/13 then it was delayed to 12/24 and I checked today and it has shipped with an estimated delivery date of 12/19, so I hope yours will ship earlier than expected too.
-
I gave up on waiting for Lenovo... Yesterday I ordered (overnight) from Provantage, a pre-configured model with 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM (non-touch). I will have it before 10:30am tomorrow
Anyone want to buy the Lenovo 256GB SSD and a 4GB stick of RAM from it??? :hi2:
I have a new Crucial 960GB SSD and Crucial 8GB RAM stick from black friday waiting to be installed. -
My order shipped yesterday but today I was credited for the amount I paid for the laptop. What the hell is going on?
-
Hey everyone, is the TN panel 1600x900 on the T440s the same panel in the X1 Carbon or is it by someone else? I've bought the Carbon twice, the regular then months later the touch one and returned them both. The screens are SO blue even with calibration and the viewing angles are so awful. My X230 has IPS so maybe I"m spoiled but I have the 11 and 13" MacBook Air and I think those are TN also are they not? I have no issues at all with them and find they look great. I'm really hesitant on getting the 1080p display as I'm sensitive to displays and find if the resolution is too high I get bad headaches. I don't think that applications are up to 1080p specs yet either like Skype, Chrome etc so debating on if I want to chance it and try the 1080p or stick to the TN but 100% not if it's the same panel as the X1!
-
I'd go with the 1080p, It's just so much better than the old TN panels. If you find it too small, just scale up.
-
It sounds like the 1080p panel is considerably better, so if you are picky about colors and viewing angles, go that way. My co-worker who received the other T440s I provisioned did complain about the resolution, so he has been working with the Windows scaling to make it acceptable. I find it perfect at 100% scaling, but I don't wear glasses either.
-
I'm just so nervous I had the X230 and so now I'm debating on the X240 at 1366x768 or doing the T440s at the 1080p. I have the Yoga right now but I don't like it. I have it set to 150% scaling which is fine I can read it etc but my issue is that it's again the applications not designed for the resolution are awful. Like if I use remote desktop, the remote servers are at 1920x1080 so super small. Then we use Siebel for a CRM through our work, and it doesn't scale at all in IE, so everything squishes together at the top of the screen and then the bottom 2/3rds of the screen is just white space. I was using a BMW car configurator yesterday and even though the website was fine, the font was so small on the java applet I couldn't use it.
I'm just wondering the difference though between 1080p on a 12.5 vs a 14 though, since my thought is I'm fine with the resolution on the 12.5 it's just the apps that run at native that are awful like Skype or Siebel etc. So I'm wondering if at 100% on a 14" just how small it really would be. Like I'd still probably run it at 125% scaled, but for the things that don't scale I mean I'm wondering if on a 14" it wouldn't be as bad.
X240 and T440s are of course very different, I love small laptops but I also spend almost all the time at my desk so thinking I should just get an actual large one instead of doing work all day on a tiny screen. It's handy when traveling but 95% is at desk 5% travel if that so thinking bigger might be better. LOVED the X1 when I had it but that screen was just so god awful.
On a side note can anyone let me know:
- Is the screen on the T440s if I do the 1080p either touch or non touch, is it glossy or is it matte like the X1 Carbon?
- Anyone know the weight the touch adds? I was reading some notebook review site and it was saying the touch model adds a pound?? Seems like a lot, but Lenovo.com says 3.5lbs on all of them
- Anyone use one and a X1 carbon? I loved the X1 Carbon size, is the T440s much bigger? Seems like it's just a bit thicker but otherwise the same.
Thanks everyone appreciate it! -
I think the touchscreen adds about 0.4lbs making it 3.9lbs total.
If you can afford to wait if it turns out to be necessary, I would suggest you try the 1080p screen and return it if it's too small. I think it will not be anything like 1080p on a 12.5" screen and that you might be ok. -
Just a question regarding display scaling. On the 14" if its 1080p being 1920x1080, if I did 1.25% scaling, is that basically making it almost the equivalent of 1536 x 864? Like would I divide by 1.25? So if I was fine with the 1600x900 resolution of the X1 Carbon on a 14", using 1.25% scaling on the 1080p T440s would theoretically size wise be almost a lower resolution than the X1? Not in terms of quality, but like in terms of text size and so on?
-
I have the same delivery BS as others here. Originally was suppose to ship on 12/4 - now shipping 12/25. I bought it as part of the pre-black friday promo and so missed purchasing another black friday laptop. Is anyone aware of a "good deal" available today on a laptop? I need a laptop by Christmas.
Edit: Just cancelled my order - good luck everyone. -
Just got my machine... what is the trick to getting the back cover off?
I removed all screws, and have been trying to use my iSesamo for 30mins without damaging the case... but no luck
Finally got it... that was absolutely ABSURD how difficult it is to remove the back cover. -
I already cancelled mine, the order status says "cancelled" however they still have their hold on my credit card. Hopefully it will be gone in a couple of days.
I've read many complaints where Lenovo may still ship and charge you after cancelling the order.
If anyone is considering buying from their website, I'd wait until january maybe by then it won't be a mess like now. Or buy elsewhere. -
I am starting to debate whether to cancel my order. Wifi issues, bezels coming off, backlight bleeding, fans rubbing, speaker noise, the long order delay I just got, etc.. I am just seeing too many bad reports like this one:
T440s nightmare - Lenovo Community -
Has anyone done any type of survey or poll to see if there is a certain part or configuration that is common to the orders that keep getting pushed back? It seems there are a few who have had their orders shipped somewhat recently, and I'd be curious if their orders had anything to do with specific parts they had on their systems. (Ex: screen type, hard drive type, cache, smart card reader, etc.)
My ship date still shows next Tuesday the 17th on the site, and I just talked with a post sales rep that couldn't provide any addition detail but said this was a "busy time of year". He also went on to say they couldn't track my order real-time during the manufacturing process... which most of you probably knew already.
Fingers crossed the 17th proves lucky for me.... -
I ordered 11/25, order shipped on 12/11.

I wonder if it's the 7260AC card that's part of the problem. When I ordered my T440p the estimated ship date was Dec. 7. The next day it was Dec. 16. Today it went to Dec. 24 and Lenovo sent me an email saying that if they can't get it to me before the holidays they'll give a a 5% discount.
If I were to order the same configuration today the Lenovo website says the estimated shipping date is Dec. 27, which is clearly optimistic and probably an outright lie. I'm kinda shocked that Lenovo is playing what seems to be a bait and switch game. Yes, there's the small print that says "The date reflected above does not determine when your order will ship.... blah blah", but that doesn't make the ship-date bait'n'switch any more excusable IMO.
So now I will get no computer before next year, which sucks. Don't want to cancel my order because in the mean time I ordered and received a bunch of accessories, including a dock. And if I did cancel, there's virtually no chance of getting any other machine before the end of the year (except perhaps a MBP).
Still, at least I'll perhaps get it for 5% less
-
Possible it could be that since there seems to be issues with that wireless card. Maybe cards are faulty and they are waiting on new ones from Intel. Either way, 5% off is better than a kick in the groin. I'd end up getting at least another $75 back if they offer it to me! I can wait a few extra days if thats the case... but not a whole month.
-
I am the one who posted this. I am really worried about the issues I'm getting and the potential inability to send it back for refund. I am also afraid, in the case I'm sending it for repair, that the backlight bleed problem gets worse once my display is fixed because that's what actually happens when I push it back into the housing (not sure if I were clear about that, this is the screen itsel coming out, not just the small piece of plastic surrounding the display).
The keyboard issue is also very very annoying. Some keys just won't come down properly and make a terrible noise. I am feeling bad each time I hit one of them.
No wifi or speaker issues for me, so I guess I still have some luck. Maybe if you can get a good unit, chances are that you'll be happy with it, but I would still be concerned about the long term durability. -
Maybe your keyboards frame is a bit misaligned. Try to fix it by sliding the keyboard frame forward (in the direction of the TouchPad) with the small tabs located near the Ctrl keys.
-
Yes, this might be the problem indeed but in my case I should move it to the right. I am not sure how to do it, the thing doesn't want to move a single bit.
-
Well, my order was postponed a third time until January. I ordered on Black Friday. One would hope they halted production to fix all the issues, but the realistic part of me says that they are now going to rapidly push laptops through the production line, further exacerbating the quality issues. IBM, please come back.

That's a reasonable shipping time and your configuration included the FHD screen and 7260AC card that some people suspected might be behind the delays. Are European buyers perhaps getting their machines faster than US buyers?
-
Some people consider 1920x1080 to be the perfect resolution for 14" at 100% so you should be fine with some stuff not scaling to your 125%. I can't speak from my own experience yet but I plan to try using 100% when my T440s gets here.
-
My order is the exact same as yours except I ordered the non-touch screen.
Ordered on 25th Nov. Initial ship date, 4th Dec, postponed to 16th Dec and now postponed till 25th Dec. I too received a "5% off my order if I dont receive my laptop by holidays" email today.
