That's the problem - I don't know how to find out. There is no control in the BIOS, I tried to install the Lenovo Settings windows 8 app, but there was no Bluetooth icon that came up when it got installed. I have tried the Fn+F8, but it just turns on and off the WiFi. It's confusing to me because the 7265 has Bluetooth and WiFi on it - if the BT was bad or not working you would think the WiFi wouldn't work either, but the WiFi works just fine.

    Any ideas?

There used to be a physical switch for the radio antennas and on my X220, I could just hit FN + F5 and it would pop up a box to turn off/on WiFi/Bluethooth, but I haven't seen the T450s. If neither of those works, I'd call support. It should be an easy fix.

Yeah, my older T60 had that same switch. This one doesn't.

I called support... And strangely they didn't support. Instead they defaulted to overnighting me a box to send the laptop back to them to diagnose with a guaranteed 7 days turnaround time.

Seems a bit extreme for something that should be able to be fixed over the phone.

Quick question ... once upon a time (T400 / T410) the S models were appreciably thinner than the non-S models. Having skimmed the Lenovo psref document, I can't really see much difference between S and non-S in the current generation, just memory sockets (actually worse on the S) and available displays (can get a hi-res IPS on the S). Am I missing something ? Also, integrated graphics only on both ?

    T450s / T450

one mem socket + 4GB soldered / two sockets
    1600x900 non-IPS or 1920x1080 IPS / 1366x768 or 1600x900
carbon fibre & mg-al / glass fibre & glass fibre

plus some very minor insignificant differences,
    331 x 226 x 20.65 mm / 339 x 232.5 x 21 mm (non-touch models)
    1.59 kg / 1.73 kg (non-touch, 3 cell + 3 cell)
    mylar touchpad / glass touchpad

T450s is much more portable - these are not minor differences. T450s is more like a 13" notebook, T450 is a normal 14" Ultrabook.

The chassis is much more premium on the s.

Will probably order this laptop soon or w550s. Regarding t450s, I would be ordering the 500gb HDD with 16gb ssd to make sure I get the m.2 slot by the wireless card to install an m.2 256gb SSD for my boot drive and use the HDD for storage. Question - I will not need the 16gb cache SSD drive. How do I disable this or use it for files instead of caching and thanks much.

This is my new top option. I have two reservations maybe owners can help me with:

    1. Do any of you do a lot of multitasking or processor-intensive work on this? I often have multiple Office programs, Photoshop, Netflix, and several Chrome windows open. (I can afford to get top processor, SDD, and 12 GB RAM)

    2. How is the FHD 1920x1080 screen? I don't need it for much more than watching movies, but I know the 1600 screen on my work laptop is quite unspectacular even to watch The Office on.

    Thanks!

Just ordered i7 5600u, FHD non-touch , 500gb HDD, 3rd m.2 slot, 4gb ram, Windows 7 Pro 64, 6 cell battery. Decided to go with smaller size instead of 15.6. Will upgrade to m.2 SSD, 12 gb ram and 2tb hdd. Thanks for good owners thread.

I guess that would depend on how picky you are. With high contrast and wide viewing angles, I think most would agree the picture quality is quite good, but if you're doing color related work, the gamut isn't all that swell. For movies it should be more than sufficient.

As I am awaiting my new T450s, looking for some advice trying to think ahead and save myself some problems. Thanks in advance.

Will be upgrading with 8GB of memory, 256 GB m.2 SSD for boot drive and 2TB HDD for lots of storage room. My question is about the best way to deal with the Lenovo recovery which I will make on a USB key and whether I should leave the HDD upgrade out of the machine after removing the original HDD while I do the recovery to the m.2 drive. I have always thought that would be the wisest and maybe the necessary thing to do because the Recovery USB may not give me a chance to select which unformatted disk (HDD or SSD), I want to place the system recovery on. If it did give me a choice I would rather do all the upgrades at onnce and avoid opening the laptop twice. Hope I am clear and does anyone have any experience in this. I will be using the Windows 7 Pro 64 recovery and thanks again.

You will need at least a 16GB USB-key. Afaik the licence is buried within the BIOS, so no need to worry about that. After backing up the recovery-partition I'd assume you could essentially begin replacing the parts...? Anybody objecting?

Thanks but my question is, will the recovery USB key give me the option of choosing which drive to install Windows on? If no, then I would need to install M. 2 SSD first, do recovery and then install new hdd.

Ah, sorry. My english skills at work there. I have no idea. When it is just a "restore" to the scratch condition probably not, since its going to re-establish the old partitioning. When it is actually a setup (which I am not assuming) probably yes.

To be honest I don't see how the first point can be, as the quoted figures for size and weight are almost identical. Not trying to start an argument, just a bit surprised. The second point could indeed be true as the materials listed differ (I haven't personally seen a T450S up close yet, so don't know firsthand, but it's plausible). Thanks for the reply.

T450 and T450s are identical in measurements - the main difference there is in weight and rigidity, for the T450s being made of GFK-CFK, whereas the case of the T450 is only made of GFK, which is not as 'tough'

That's really close. Just wish they offered the T450 with the IPS display... replacing the panel is pretty much always a pain in the butt.

    Hello,

I just purchased a T450s and seem to be having some trouble with video playback at full screen resolution (specifically on youtube). When ever I play a video that has a lot of camera movement (say a rally race) the video playback gets choppy at 720p (there are horizontal lines in the display wherever fast movement is present). I first thought this may have to do with my internet, but my old T420 plays the same video at the same resolution just fine. Anything that does not have a lot of movement (for instance an interview) will not have any choppiness. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My T450s has the Core i5 5300 CPU, 8gb of ram, normal HD display and factory SSD. I have windows aero turned off and my battery/performance settings are at maximum performance. I am currently running Windows 7 and primarily use Chrome as my web browser.

Thank you very much for your help. I tried searching for others with the same issue, but no one else seems to have it.

Maybe as a place to start, try a different browser for testing purposes. I have PCs with lesser specs that have no trouble with 1080p video playback. I suspect it's something it the settings somewhere.

    Hello everyone,

I've been having some issues with my newly purchased t450s. The Intel Display Driver keeps crashing and I can't figure out how to troubleshoot. Does anyone else have this problem or know of any solutions?

Question for the T450S owners....does the Intel 5500 graphics and associated drivers on the T450S allow you to run a total of 3 displays at the same time using a display port to dual HDMI adapter? My current HP is configured to use this same type adapter to run two external 1920x1080 monitors as well as the laptop's display. Just wanting to make sure a T450S will be able to support this as well.

    Thanks!

Yes. Lenovo did make some USB adapters, which would allow for up to six LCDs. I don't know if they still are.

    Thanks ZaZ.

Question for all of the T450s owners,

Was wondering if any of you considered purchasing a Latitude E7450 vice the Lenovo T450s ? If so what features/factors pushed you towards the T450S over the E7450? Thanks for any input!

Between the two, I'd pick the T450s for the better stick and keyboard all things equal, which they never are, but it was not an option when I bought. I've heard the E7450 is keyboard is firmer, but I'm assuming the stick is the same, which is not as good. The main benefits of the Dell are cost as it can often be had in the Dell Outlet dirt cheap. The T450s does occasionally goes on sale. I've seen $650ish a couple times, but the Dell can be had at that price or less more frequently. The E7450 has two memory slots, so if you want to do 16GB of memory, it cheaper. The Dell also comes with a three year NBD warranty standard and I think bumping up to accidental coverage is fairly inexpensive if you want to do it. You'll only get one year with the T450s.

    Hi all,

I just became the (mostly) very happy owner of a T450s! I have one question - does anyone else's screen bezel sometimes make a weird "sticking" noise (almost like some part of the bezel gets stuck on some adhesive) when opening / closing the lid? It only happens on the right hand side, near the top... If I close the lid by using my hand on the top, it seems alright.

I asked elsewhere and someone said to try squeezing the top edge of the lid to make sure the bezel is properly attached to the lid. It seems to be attached OK.. any thoughts?

I think I could just put in a support call, but thought I'd check your opinions before I do so

    Cheers

I was having trouble deciding between a refurbished Dell Latitude E7450 and a new Thinkpad T450s...but I am now a soon-to-be new owner of a Lenovo ThinkPad T450S. I pulled the trigger on one yesterday after talking to one of the helpful Lenovo Sales Reps on the phone. The configuration I chose is as follows:

    - i7-5600U 2.6 - 3.2GHz
    - 20GB (4+16) ram
    - 256gb SATA3 SSD
    - Win7 Pro
    - 1920x1080 FHD IPS
    - Intel HD 5500 graphics
    - 3+3 cell 23.2whr batteries
    - Backlit Keyboard
    - Fingerprint Reader
    - Intel Dual Band Wireless AC w/ BT
    - 3yr Extended Warranty

Estimated ship date is 6/26 with an estimated delivery of 7/6.

Definitely excited to receive it. Gonna suck to have to wait for 3 weeks :(

    Hi all,

After a lot of month making a huge excel with all ultrabooks and high end laptops and trying the MSI GS60 with no succes I finally have the laptop that I have been waiting so long for. The Lenovo Thinkpad T450s + Nvidia 940M version with max. options.

I like the look, feel and speed that the laptop has. It really feels it like it will give me a other 6 years of IT time. Even though I'm not happy with the current market offering no Ultra high-end ultrabook (like the Sony Vaio Z-serie that I had before). This laptop ended up as my #1 replacement for my Sony Vaio Z.

Though it has some minor problems mainly in the software, there is one problem that is really bugging me: It takes way to long to start-up or to wake out of sleep.
Start-up gives me 35 second of black screen before the first splash screen appears. Making me thing every boot that I did not press the ON/OFF switch good enough.
Wake-up gives me 11 seconds of black screen before the power light goes from "sleep-mode" to "on-mode" whereafter the screen turns on again.

These two delay's really annoy me a lot! I have to move a lot on my job, and I like that the laptop is going into sleep everytime I close the lid. But having to wait more then 11 seconds every time to let it wake up is really annoying and is not what you expect from the most up-to-date high end laptop.

Anyone having the same problems? (if so, do you have the T450s version with Nvidia card?)
My threat about this problem: http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...-seconds-before-showing-splash-screen.777550/

I don't have those delays on my non-Nvidia card version. I have Secure Boot on so Fast Boot can work and also Intel Rapid Start on (for deep sleep) and it takes me under 10 seconds to cold boot and about 3-5 seconds from sleep.

Anybody buy the 3 year extended Lenovo warranty for the T450s from provantage.com? It's $53 which seems like a good deal to extend out the coverage. Also looks like it extends the battery warranty as well: Expedited Depot Warranty with Sealed Battery Warranty - 3 Year Extended Service - Maintenance - Parts & Labor - Physical Service

Is that depot-return? Seems pretty cheap, as long as you can live without your machine for several days (or more). We usually order with the two-year on-site which is around $80 extra when you order the machine.

Personally I'd never buy the depot repair... too many horror stories out there, plus how long can you live without your laptop. I'd take a shorter on-site to a longer depot repair. But to each their own.

    Hello!
I have a T450s with i7 and 940m - no delays whatsoever - OS is Win7 x64 and has been Win8.1 x64 briefly, both with HDD and then replacement SSD haven't resulted in any significantly extraordinary delay.

Were you able to determine that "the display-lid reported issues" that you mentioned in your June 17, 2015, were not that severe?

She arrived on 6/25, 1.5 weeks ahead of schedule. I've been using the machine for a few days now and love it. Thanks again to all the NBR members for the help on deciding.

My T450s comes with a " Micro Hard Drive: 16GB M.2 Solid State Drive Single". How do I use this? I assumed when I placed the order that I'd be able to access it like any other drive. However, it doesn't show up in Windows Explorer, only as a separate 14.91 GB disk in Disk Management. Is it solely reserved for system use, or can I use it for my own files?

It's used by ExpressCache and you won't see it unless, you uninstall ExpressCache and reformat it in Disk Management.

I'm having a hard time deciding between the HP Spectre x360 and the T450s. Both are similar spec'd. I owned a Lenovo T420 before and loved it (But was slightly to heavy for what I needed it for, especially with a 9 cell battery) though weight isn't a huge issue as I'd be opting for the 3 cell anyway. Don't particularly need the convertible part of the x360, though I'll be getting a touch screen on the T450s. It's for university use by the way. Any ideas how I can decide? I'm not massively keen on the idea of owning a HP with the issues in the past. But the rock solidness of the T450s is super nice.

I can only say that I'm really happy with my maxed out T450s. Even though my laptop had a few defects, I'm more happy with it then when I woudn't have had those defects. The fact that after just one call an IBM engineer came to where ever I was working to fix my laptop was really something that gave me a warm feeling. Of course you pay for that though.. I had a MSI GS60 before this, and it has loads of more bang for the same amount of bucks. But I returned it because of hardware issues, bad compatibility, and bad support.

A Few downsides for me though:
    - Why they came up with the idea to develop this strange square power... still don't know why they did it.. but I hate it. It would have been fine if it also could be used as USB port. Looking at the same size it might even been the first goal they planned for it, but ended up not doing that while keeping the same shape and size. Why change it to something so exotic/incompatible.
    - No HD led!!!
    - No power led on power adapter or power plug.
    - No caps-lock or scroll-lock led in keyboard while there is a useless one for the FN key.

I have some other things that I don't really like, but I guess this is the best laptop for me on the market at this moment that has replaced my 7 year old most epic Vaio Z laptop. I'm really happy with it.
