See this is what I'm talking about...
I don't know why there are all of these "What is your ship date" threads. The ESD means nothing. It's either a false sense of hope or a false sense of frustration. Or just plain false.

The only reason I check my order status is to see if it changes from "In process" to "Shipped". I probably don't have to do that because most of the time people have been getting an e-mail when it's shipped.

Um, your right the ESD means nothing.

BUT when people post the date their order is shipped threads like these are very helpful!

I want to know if others are receiving their T61 15.4 w/ 140m so I have somewhat of an idea when I will get mine... (better how long I will have to WAIT to get mine :)

I ordered mine on 7/15, ESD was 8/2, it was then changed to 9/5. i need the laptop by tommorow; they said the 15.4 WSXGA+ screen was causing the delay, so after telling them i really needed it by 8/10 they gave me a free bag and a battery; I called them yesterday just to find out when exactly it was going to ship, the rep said my laptop will by shipped by next week, its "set to ship on 8/15" that seems stupid since...if they have it set to ship, why wait till next week

Exactly, that is why I still read these threads. I want to know when something is actually shipped. OR if someone actually really knows when these things are suppose to ship. BUT fifteen pages worth of "My ESD changed again!" doesn't provide any useful information. People still think it means something

I know exactly how inaccurate ESDs are since I already ordered a T61 which shipped 2 weeks before its ESD. However my complaint is the constant rebooking. My order has been rebooked 4 times now and I haven't received anything in compensation. I talked to a rep exactly a week ago and he said that it would probably ship in 2 weeks which is next Thursday 8/16. The problem is that even though the ESD is inaccurate you really can't call to complain because they're so far out. Thinking, well it'll just ship sooner than later is nice to think, but there is nothing solid there to base anything on.

One of the reasons I'm sticking it out is because my first order which I returned went smoothly and shipped within a week and a half and even though it takes a while to get customer support, they fixed the problem (returned it) without any hassle. If you're wondering why I returned it, it's a long story in another thread I created. I also had the machine in my hands for about 4 days and got a good feel for it.

Aww,

I just ordered a T61 - T7300, Quadro 140M, 2GB RAM, 15.4 WXVGA TFT

I wonder if mine will be delayed.

Also in regards to the order process, when I originally clicked 'order', the order went through but my credit card company blocked the transaction. They called me assuming it was fruad. They then removed the security flag and told me to rerun the transaction.......... so I called in. The rep said they would have to forward the request to the billing department and they would have to take care of it. I asked how I would know if everything was taken care of, and they said there is no way for me to know.

So when exactly will they charge my CC? The price of laptop is close to the credit limit on the card, which I use for other things so I really want to know when it will happen so I can schedule the payment.

My own common sense solution is:
Cancel the order, replace the order now that the credit card is ready to accept it.
It has been 24 hours now and my bank is still showing no queries to my credit card, suggestions?

heh, I went back to the site, this morning. Reconfigured the same T61 laptop and it was $50 cheaper. I was like WTF! So I called and canceled the previous order ( which still hadn't billed my CC ), and reordered.

From the best I can tell the difference was XP Pro was $10 cheaper ( I think ), and the DVD burner was $8.50 instead of $50.
I am not entire sure the above is correct, but I seem to recall being charged full price for the DVD Burner on Thursday, and today it is on sale.

So finally I can say:

T61
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz 800MHz 4MBL2)
Genuine Windows XP Professional
15.4 WXGA TFT
NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M (128MB)
2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)
120GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm
DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim
PC Card Slot & Express Card Slot
4 in 1 Media Card Reader
ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wi-Fi wireless LAN Mini-PCIe US/EMEA/LA/ANZ
9 cell Li-Ion Battery

Ordered: 8-10-2007
ESD : 8-29-2007

............And the game begins!

Otto, since you ordered without the UWB-wireless USB, your order will probably ship one day next week.

Wow you ordered 8/10 and get 8/29 as ESD? I ordered mid July and I have a 9/7 ESD and I think someone else ordered early July and has the same 9/7 as me. I'm also on the "critical" list if such a thing really exists. Though from past experience the "critical" list doesn't seem to mean much. I also ordered without the UWB but the delay seems to be the screen as people have noted several times. I'm hoping mine ships sometime next week, but I'm not holding my breath. If it doesn't ship by late August I'll be upset. But like I said, with such unpredictable ship dates, even if you're upset you can't complain because the reps will just say "well your ESD is.."

My main concern is that I will be returning to College end of August / start Sept, I had planned to order the laptop with time for arrival prior to Sept. 1 month is plenty of time for that, and 2 weeks would be acceptable. If I land in the boat with many others here, I will join the crowd of completely pissed irate customers.

I'd really like to know why the delays: Some post say any combination of the following:
Screen
Nvidia graphics
UWB
120 GB HD
Their website

Who knows!

My order for the T61 with UWB finally shipped. Ordered on 07/20/2007. ESD 08/22/2007. I was told the other day I was put on the critical list. Good Luck everyone else. T61's and T61p's with UWB are finally shipping.

P.S. Have not received the email confirmation yet. I check the order status page. So, do not have a tracking # just yet. Shipped on 08/11/2007.

Did anyone get a Canadian email address from the order email you get from Lenovo? I get a websales@ca.lenovo.com. However, I ordered from the Lenovo US SPP website, not Lenovo CA. I made another quote today from the Lenovo US SPP website and I now get a rkramden@us.lenovo.com.

Could this be a reason why my T61 is delayed? Did the computer somehow mess up my order in mistaken me as from Canada? I am living in California as of right now but the CA with the Golden Gate Bridge is much different then the CA with ice hockey and maple leafs.

Well this may add fuel to some peoples fire.

But as stated somewhere above, I orded on 8-10-2007 ( around 9AM Friday ), I had called my credit card company prior, so my billing check went through fast.

I got an email this morning, stating my order shipped on 8-12-2007.

So that is a 2 day order to ship time. The stats for the system are somewhere above ( just search for my other posts ).

So if you want your fix fast, check my config, something about it caused few problems.

I would guess the delays are caused by the WUXGA display, I got plain WXGA 15.4.
The Hard disk was the 120GB 5400 SATA, perhaps choosing the 160GB or 100GB 7200 is causing delays.
I just wonder if the Nvidia card is even the issue here.

Granted I had tried to order this system for nearly a week prior to Friday with no luck ( site gave an error ), I had to call in about 10 times, cancelled and reordered 3 times, and filed 2 better business bureau complaints ( 1 for not honoring the tax holiday, 2 for the complete a$$ that called me a liar on the phone )

I also had also started with an R61, but their site would NEVER let me order ( I think it was because i had WindowsXP selected ), so I went to the T61 with the same stats.

When I recieve the computer I plan to run 3DMark01,03,05,06, Cinemark and Oblivion to see what I get out of the box. I am looking forward to doing that and posting the results. I am not a hardcore gamer, but I do game on occasion as well as do graphics design.

I think that goes to show that the problem is the screen. I got a LG screen before, but I wonder if Lenovo wont be lowering their standards and going with other manufacturers (and maybe worse manufacturers) to quickly fill the 15.4" WSXGA+ orders.

I would hope the opposite would be true. It would make sense for them to upgrade the screen quality and make a little less on each unit verses ship a sub-standard item and have all of the complaints/returns and more bad press.

But who knows.

I think that all those thread complaining about multiple issues including but not limited to shipping, customer service lies and more, configuration change without approval, order total changes would show that Lenovo probably will go with the lower standards.

I very much doubt they would go with better screens, other manufacturers would...

So a bunch of T61P owners got their orders shipped out between 8/10 and 8/13. Are there any of us who ordered the T61 w/nVidia 140M who has there status changed to "shipped" yet.

I ordered 7/11. I'm still "In Process"

My order from 7/16 is still "In Process" as well. I think I might just buy a similar 15.4" T61 from my brother's college on campus. The price is about $50 dollars with 3 year warranty more at the campus, but I would have the notebook in my hand immediately. Time equals money in the business world. If it is not shipped by this week, I am going to cancel my order.

I think the Wireless USB is the problem.

I think Lenovo would care more about their T61P customers and not their 15.4" WSXGA+ T61 customers. I have two 15.4" T61 notebooks and they are both in process as usual.

Considering that you ordered 4-5 days after most of the T61p people... :p Expect another 4-5 days. Atleast, that'd be a reasonable thought :p Hope it ships today for you though man - I know I'm jonesing for mine.

The CSR said my T61 was in the build stage. It will probably ship this week or next week then. :)

Congrats... it's good to hear things are starting to ship. Do you have a S/N you can do a parts lookup and see your screen manufactures (LG or samsung).

I ordered a day before you, but with Business, T7300, 100 72k, no turbo, 6cell, and atheros. Hopefully none of these differences will delay mine.

I can't wait to have this baby in my hands.

I did a parts look up on mine, I got the "Sumsung". I know you guys say that the LG screens are better than the Samsungs, but are there any noticible differences or anything I should be aware of? Also, theres nothing in the parts list that says WUSB or UWB, that means I wont have wireless usb?

Since you are posting that your laptop has been shipped in both the T61P and T61 w/ 140M threads, can you tell us which one you have so we know if it is the one that applies to this thread? I'm just interested in knowing if T61 140Ms are shipping.

Alright now... don't toy with my emotions. I'm like a girl on prom night waiting for my date to arrive that should have arrived two hours ago.

Why do you think it is going to ship tomorrow?? Got anything concrete? If it is just a CSR, I've talked to a few and they always say it's going to ship in "a few days" or "one week". They have always been wrong.

Well I originally bought my laptop on 7/11, but rebooked on 8/9, and shipped 8/11, so they treated my laptop as a 7/11 order i presume. Plus, they can only build and ship so many laptops on the cargo plane. I got nothing concrete unfortunately, but it only seems logical that yours might ship soon enough.

:frown: Stallen if you look at earlier posts, you will see my specs... my keyboard is a Mfg part # 42T3109 from what I see on the parts page, it looks like a "NMB" Keyboard. I do not know if is is good or bad. My screen looks like a "LG" Screen, 42T0329. Guess that is good. My first Thinkpad notebook. Not to familiar with parts.

Sorry I didn't want to look through multiple pages on two threads to find your specs.

BTW, most people think NMB is the best keyboard.

lskeys: Can you confirm if you have a "WUSB" or "UWB" part in your parts list?

Guess I got the Chicony and Samsung combo, oh well, its not the end of the world, but Ill just have to wait and see if im satisfied with what I got.

NMB is suppose to be the best but I remember someone a month or two ago talking about Lenovo shipping some Chicony keyboards as NMB. I got an Alps and it was very nice. I don't understand how you can be so picky about a laptop keyboard. The options are slim and most consumers don't care which hurts your options. It doesn't make a lot of sense to be that picky about your keyboard. If you get Chicony, Alps, or NMB you're already way ahead of most consumer and business laptops out there. My advice: don't worry about it. It's like some people who MUST have everything in FLAC when in reality they can't really tell the difference between FLAC and 256kbps MP3.

I was just quoted "2 weeks" on my 7/25 order. That would be it in late august, a full month after I ordered. The rep noted delays for the screen and graphics card. It's kind of funny that I've spent an entire summer picking out and buying a laptop but I don't actually have one yet. Though if my first T61 didn't have a faulty graphics card I would have had one. I can't even count the number of times I've called Lenovo about any number of different things: billing concerns, tech support, and shipping date. I'd guess probably 20-30 times in total. I was talking to one rep and he remarked "It seems like you've called many times before" lol. That leads me to believe they actually have a database of every time you call in, which makes sense.

I have the WSXGA+ screen

xnviews: Those of us who had our laptops ship all had to wait a month, so if all goes to plan, and if production is cranking out the laptops at a fixed pace, you should get it by next week, i suppose. but bottom line is: patience!

You asked about the Samsung WSXGA+. I had it on my old T60 which uses the same LCD.

It was poor. Terrible viewing angles, and what I mean by that is when you look at it straight on the viewing angles are bad. Very grainy/pixelated/sparkley. About a notch and a half dimmer than 2 other Samsung WXGA panel T60s I've ordered for friends. And the whites look grayish...

Hopefully things will work out better for you, but I sold mine on ebay after 4 months...

I'm crossing my fingers for the LG screen I got before. I heard the T61 Samsung screen has some upsides though which I don't remember, but someone discussed it in another thread. Somedude, when you get your laptop let us know how the Samsung screen and Chicony keyboard are.
