    T61 Delayed

    The funniest part is, there really isn't much else out there (right now) you can compare with the T61. I looked a bit at the D630 and whatnot - they're offering the non-integrated GPU in 1-2 months, which is when a delayed T61 will finally come.

    So... either you wait on the T61, or you... wait on the D630. *shrug*

    maybe there is nothing else to compare to because the other manufactures were up front and didnt promise something they didnt have :O

    Well after 2 hours of being on hold I canceled my order because they told me it would take another 2 to 3 weeks to get my laptop. I am not waiting a month and a half for a laptop. I see that people who ordered days after me are going to be getting their laptops before me and it makes me slightly upset. So now I am looking for another laptop, this time I would am probably going to go with an ultraportable, I am open to lenovo brand but only through a reseller not through lenovo themselves.

    The reps at Lenovo have been yelled at all day. It's a lot easier to just say "Nah, don't worry! Everything's on schedule."

    When I called to cancel mine, they seemed relieved. They didn't ask any questions. They just said, "Oh this won't be any problem at all."

    yes they are conflicting. I called today and got the 2-3 week response from some lady and the next rep I spoke to said 10 days because they are backordered on chassis for the t61. I don't know who to believe or if I should believe any of them. I emailed the sales rep who had originally helped me purchase my computer. He seemed honest and like he was willing to help. I'll let you know what he says when I get a response back.

    You wont have a problem with supply for the X60/s because they're not on the new platform.

    Well i hanged up but i did recieve email.

    Question if i do infact take up the chances of the delay and modify/price adjustments, will this overall effect a even worser wait time? 2-3 weeks fine by me. I just hope they don't scrape the whole machine.

    Does anybody have any ACCURATE information about the delay. How long will it be? What caused it? If I ordered my T61 on the 13th when should I expect it? I want some concrete information to know whether it makes more sense to wait it out or to cancel and go with another (more reliable?) brand? Thanks.

    How do you define accurate information? How do you know whatever is posted is in fact a fact? I think most of us here are just customers talking to lenovo sales rep, who are giving conflicting stories to begin with, therefore creating hysteria and rumors on the forums.

    Unless you receive solid notice from Lenovo that YOUR order will be delayed, then it doesn't hurt to wait unless you absolutely need the computer now for work, or your old computer is out of commission, or you just want a computer right now. If the computer is cheaper by the time it ships, you can ask for a price adjustment to your credit card.

    I don't know that what I have heard is in fact a fact...that's why I'm asking for concrete information. Maybe somebody works for Lenovo or knows someone who works for Lenovo who could give REAL info. I do need my computer ASAP but am WILLING to wait if it won't be a huge delay.

    Fingerling received an email today (and thanks for posting it!) with information that his system is delayed 1 to 30 days. It could very well be possible that it is one part causing the delay and if that part was not selected that your machine would not be. That's why I am asking for this info. So, I'll ask again, does anybody have any solid information?

    Well, I got the dreaded august 31st Est. Shipping date when I check my order status this morning. From may 30th to august 31st...you'd figure it wouldn't take a week for a company as big as lenovo to fix that problem. Anyway a rep I spoke to yesterday said 10 days. Lenovo better hope that my laptop has shipped in 10 days.

    Ahhhhh mine says its "supposed" to ship tomorrow. I'm dreading that when i check tomorrow I'll see Aug 31st!! Even though I know it's not accurate it would just SUCK to see that LOL.

    The best way to get information like this would be to order the laptop, call lenovo and ask a sales rep when it's coming.

    I'm on the fence - I don't know if I should cancel my order or not. But until I find a better deal, who cares? I'll cancel it if I find something a lot better then the lenovo; they can scratch their asses until august 30 for all I care.

    A 6/11 date is still possible. I think it's just the people that had the shipping dates towards the end of May that are getting delays. The guy I spoke to yesterday sounded pretty confident when he said it was the backorder on the chassis that was causing the delays.

    So will the people that had orders that were supposed to ship at the end of May still get their computers before people who had shipping dates in the middle of June? Or are they being pushed back?

    I was told yesterday when I called that It would be an additional 2 to 3 weeks, I had already waited 3 weeks, so I canceled my order through them and I am now going to buy a X60s on ebay through a reseller

    yikes. there's no way it should take that long....

    I really don't know the answer to that, but I would really hope so. I've heard conflicting reports about the delay. I spoke to two different reps yesterday. One said 2-3 weeks and when I asked why, she said something about the factory rejecting them. The next guy sounded pretty confident about the chassis being on backorder. I asked him at least 4 times if the delay was only going to be 10 days and he didn't hesitate to say yes.

    To me there is no point in cancelling. By the time I decide what other laptop I would want and order it, I would probably be waiting just as long if not longer that the 2-3 week delay.

    I have been looking around and I can't seem to get this quality computer package I built for similar price anyway. So i am sticking with the order for now. I won't be charged until they ship it anyway and if there are newer releases that may be worth switching, I have 21 days from the date of shipping for exchange.

    I have been silently watching this thread since I purchased a T61 on 5/24 with the EPP/25%. It has been kind of funny. I don't have much to add. I also called the sales rep yesterday and was told they will ship mid-June, and I didn't even give him an order number.

    Personally I am waiting. My EST ship date shows 8/28, but having worked with ERP systems, I would guess this is just coming from the fact that most ERP systems automatically calculate a date based on the worst case scenario from all of the parts of the bill-of-material for the T61. I would guess some part(s), maybe a video card or a screw, currently show a ship date out in august-production time, hence the late ship date.

    So the buyer responsible for this item is now calling/begging with the supplier.

    My $0.02, if you "need" a laptop before the end of June, go somewhere else. If you want to get the best bang for your buck, wait. If someone can find a similar deal elsewhere in the mean time, by all means, let us know.

    That's what I did last week and I'm so glad I did. My estimated shipping date was yesterday on my original order and I'm sure it would have been delayed.

    I'm using my T61 daily now and it's been doing pretty well.

    I received my "your order has been delayed 1-30 days" e-mail this morning. Here is an abridged copy of the e-mail I sent to the customer service rep through whom I placed my order re: these delays.

    When I placed my order for the ThinkPad T61 on the shop.lenovo.com Web site on May 10, availability was listed as "1-2 weeks." Once I had ordered my system, I was given an estimated ship date of 05/29/07, not within the two-week time frame I had expected, but a date I considered acceptable. Imagine my surprise, then, when I checked my order status page yesterday (May 29) to see that the estimated ship date had changed to 08/30/07! I called Lenovo customer service to inquire about this delay, and one of your colleagues told me not to worry: Lenovo was experiencing errors with estimated ship dates on its Web site. She assured me that my new computer would ship within 2-3 weeks of its order date, despite what the order status page indicated.

    Although growing increasingly impatient, her answer appeased me until I received another e-mail from Lenovo this morning indicating that my order would be delayed an additional "1 to 30 days." This is simply unacceptable.

    Would you please answer the following questions?

    What is causing these delays? (I see that availability for the T61 is now listed as "Call" on the shop.lenovo.com Web site, so I assume there is a pretty significant hold-up.)
    When, exactly, will I receive my computer?
    Is there any way to speed up this process?​

    Here was his (inadequate?) reply:

    The delay is caused by an internal error within our system.
    These orders should be going out approximately June 15th.​

    I have no idea if this answer is any more accurate than everything else Lenovo's seemingly overwhelmed, underinformed representatives are telling us, but hopefully you find it helpful, as I'm just as impatient as all of you.

    Yeah that is why I canceled my order. I ordered before most of you here and I was told I am going to receive mine after yours. Plus the really bad experience with customer service, I'm still getting a thinkpad just not through them. Skibunny has pretty much convinced me on getting an X60s, only thing to worry about now is how well I can get it on ebay.

    so they wont send the delay email until our shipping dates? My expected shipping date is 6/8/07 so does this mean i wont get a delay email until then? or are the delays only for those who just ordered

    try it again, the site has been buggy for the last few days.

    When I try with my neighbors EPP info, there is no problem loggin in.

    If the Meyer EPP continues to throw errors, then I would assume Lenovo disabled that single Serial Number.

    Well... you know what's my problem? I ordered a t61 3 days ago and it shows on my order status that the est. shipping date is 08/31!! But when I placed the order, it said the date was 06/09!

    And there's no way to contact them right now. No one answers the phone and no one replies the email.

    Mine just got delayed from 5-31 to 6-18, geforce grahics card and the intel drive cache. I ordered on May 13th, not happy at all. Going to try to call tomorrow to get conflicting info :)

    I ordered my on 5-14 and it originally said 5-31 as estim. ship date. Of course when I checked this morning it got delayed until 6-19. I called Lenovo and they said that 6-19 would be the latest it would ship and that it could possibly come sooner. Their excuse was that they were not prepared for the high volume of orders they received. I'm just straight up annoyed with them :mad:

    Ordered a T61 over the weekend w/ EPP...but also have an August ship date. Looking at the site today, the T61s are now "1-2 weeks" instead of "Call"...a good sign? :)
