i wonder when the 14.1 widescreen will be available.
-
Think that the 14.1W T61p should be available within this week.
-
Well...Can anyone tell me whether this is T61 or T61p since the title said "6459CTO ThinkPad T61 15 Widescreen"?... Thanks... -
Nice! I did the same! My RO told me the WUXGA is gonna stall my order another 2 weeks. And if I get in line first with this bad boy (which admitted I was really wanting WSXGA+ anyway) I may get this puppy shipped by the end of this week beginning of next. I'll just cancel my July order (yah I know, pathetic how it's just days from September!) and move from there.

Granted, I'm pretty sure this model doesn't have WUSB, but that's a small price I'm willing to pay at this point to get it sooner. I've waited over a month for this thing already so I paid for the 2 day shipping... at this point I just want my laptop, I don't care how much it costs!
This may be a silly thing to do... ordering two nearly identical ThinkPads just in the hopes of getting one sooner... But considering the fact that WSXGA+ is really where a 15.4" should be at, I'm feeling better with this newer purchase. -
Rest assured desperado, it's the T61p. My previous order of the T61p did the same thing on its order page. All you have to do is look at the video card in your order, and you know you've got the newer model.
-
I ordered my customized t61p 15.4" wsxga+ last week off the ca education portal and I received it less than a week later...!
-
Lol. Smart guys think alike... I bet you feel orgasmatic now... Oh thanks for letting me know that is T61p.. I'm too nervous after this 3-week wait..
-
I hope so I am waiting for this baby -
14.1 widescreen T61p? Where did you hear about this? AFIK, this doesn't exist.
-
Anyone have order status yet for this new one? I just ordered one and will be cancelling my previous...

40Y8598 LENOVO MESSENGER CARRYING CASE -
Is it available in Canada? i dont see it on the Canadian website.
-
Yah, spoke with my RO and right now the new batch of WUXGA's are supposed to arrive 9/7 - 9/10. I'm assured to be in that batch of builds, but I'm not waiting anymore. To me, it's a win/win situation regardless of which one ships first.
-
I just don't know why my credit card hasn't been charged yet..nor been held...wth is this situation?!?!?!
-
Wow... Our specs are the same! Cheers! Lol... Well, in addition, has your credit card been charged or your money been held? That's pretty strange cuz my credit card hasn't been charged for about 2 days...
-
The CC had the money authorized and help almost immediatly after ordering. Its still showing pending...
you should give them a call if they havent authorized the charge yet, they may hold your order up.
Ordered this morning 8-9ish - at noon I called and they said the order was sent to the warehouse. -
really 9/10 is my esd.. i hope your right im tired of waiting
-
Oh... Thanks! Still got several questions. Where can I check whether my order is in process or is being held? Does "authorize" mean "charge"? Will they inform me if there is something wrong about my credit card through email (I'm not in US now...)?
-
That's precisely why I ordered the WSXGA+ model.. just in case. Ironically, unless this newer model ships by the end of the week, I may just end up with two T61p's... and having to decide which one to break the tape on.
-
After you order you should get an email with an order status link. Near the bottom of the order information, it will say the status.
The status should stay as Processing until it ships in which case it will change to shipped (I believe this is how it goes)
Your CC just gets authorized at first just to make sure the money is there. It will not get charged until the order actually ships. -
Damn...Seems that the Lenovo request got refused yesterday cuz I was just informed that the money had just transferred in my account... And now the status bar still says "In process"... What can I do now? Do you think I should email them to re-charge my credit card? Thanks a lot...
-
Yah, I'd give them a call, just to make sure everything is okay. Lenovo's Card Services Department is at 1-800-426-3325. I'm not sure how they are with phone support since the one time I had to call them, I went directly to voicemail... a pre-recorded response saying they were experiencing higher then normal call volume. But if you didn't get a email from Lenovo regarding "Action Required - Lenovo Order XXXXX" you may be okay... But a call to them couldn't hurt.
-
Hi all,
Does anyone know how this WSXGA+ screen is ? and also who the manufacturer is ? Brightness and clarity....say for watching a occasional movie.
Thanks -
Thanks a lot...However my situation is that I am not in US now and I'll be there in one or two weeks.....damn......Thanks though. Do you think that emailing them will be helpful if I am unable to call them?
-
This is pretty exciting news! I was looking at the Asus V2S and F8SV, both of which are not out yet.
The T61p has always looked great though. I am glad they put the 1680 x 1050 resolution in. I am going to be seriously considering it now!
I wonder if they will release a 14" 1440 x 900 screen over the next couple of days. That would be something I am really interested in as one of the reasons I am laptop shopping is to get away from 15.4" screens just for portability purposes....decisions decisions.......
-
Just bought mine. Very surprised that the USXNARTRIPLE code works for these.
-
does it come with UWB
-
From the specs this thing looks like it's a normal t61 with the fx 570m gpu stuck into it. I am guessing that it should be the same as the normal t61 15.4' versions.
-
I guess I got lucky with the delivery, but i ordered my T61p with WUXGA around the first week of August and got it two weeks ago. I've never seen the WSXGA+, but the WUXGA is very very nice, especially if you like a high resolution screen and don't have any problems reading small fonts (I guess you could also reduce the resolution if reading small fonts is a problem). I'm very happy that I upgraded from my 12" Dell 720M.
BTW, I suggest you guys get 2GB of RAM for Vista and do a clean install after you get your notebook. The Vista Anytime Upgrade DVD does not come with the notebook so you should order it now! -
i ordered 7/25, original ESD 8/28. Just bumped to 9/28 and just cancelled my order.
going to order the WSXGA+ with the same options for $1490 (epp, this time).
tired of waiting but this is $400+ cheaper. -
I feel your pain, considering all the parts are in stock for this newer model, it's a no brainer. Let's just hope they start shipping these things this week.
-
i thought about letting them race to delivery like you're doing, but at this point the $400+ saved is worth it. horrible paper-launch on lenovo's part.
-
Its only 5% on the 15" T61p. The 14" has a 20% off coupon that blows this out of the water.
I want to know more about this 14" WS T61p. That would get me to wait on hitting the "Checkout" button on the 14" Std T61p I have in the cart currently (at $1043
).
-
It's my understanding no such model (14.1" wide t61p) currently exists, besides which, the 20% coupon of which you speak only applies to the non-widescreens.
-
I called in to cancel my original order for a 15.4" WUXGA model (the CSR informed me that the models with UWB and the WUXGA are basically in a black hole for the time being) and got the WSXGA+ model instead. He put me on the priority list and said that it should ship within a week and a half. Crossing my fingers...
-
I ordered the WUSGA model and my shipping date is more than 2 weeks away. I hope you will get your computer on time!
-
I just cancelled my order...
Ordered 7/26, original ESD 8/28. Delay to 9/28.
Just re-order the WSXGA+ one with the same options for $300 cheaper. -
That is correct. I don't believe we'll be seeing a 14" WS -p T series until the next model refresh, at best.
-
Yes that is true but i also got a lower base price going through that realtors of america link, + the 5% discount. And the 14" is only a better deal if you are not picky about the screen and video card, which i am.
-
I just put in my order today. The labor day sale makes for an amazing bargain on this system. Ship date says 09/19/07, but it will be worth the wait!

The UWB is still not available !!!
I wonder when will they put it back -
I ordered 8/29 - it shipped today
I will just be putting UWB in myself. This was a FAST order! -
So you bought 2x2GB RAM?
-
Yes, I always order my memory from PGN...
they tend to be cheaper than newegg the majority of the time. I had one order with a UPS-caused problem and PGN jumped right in and overnighted me a new part to rectify it - this really impressed me. I've been a loyal customer ever since. I usually just find what I want using the category tool on newegg and then search the part number on PGN.
Memory prices have gone up a few dollars in the last month or two, but you can find numerous brands of memory for around $90-100 per 2GB stick on newegg. -
http://www.smmdirect.com/2GB_Memory_Upgrade_for_Lenovo__P271930C60017.cfm
http://www.datamemorysystems.com/_memory-information/DM50_190.asp
Seems that they're also nice places to get RAMs... -
God dam*....that's really a deal!
-
Dont let that be a deciding factor though.
Most on the forums here will tell you buy any cheap ram from newegg because they can be found for $90-100 each. I will only use crucial, but to be fair - they are probably right. As long as it has a lifetime warranty with a money back gaurentee you should be safe.
EDIT: example - newegg listing for compatible memory... $98-140'ish depending on manufacturer. -
just found this but I'm curious if doing that would void the warranty?
and why isn't UWB standard in the T61p? I thought it was, no? -
They removed it as standard when UWB was a hard to get part...not sure why it hasnt been added back on yet.
I am unsure if the recently ordered T61p's include UWB (I doubt it thought as I would think they would be flaunting it by now)
I plan on adding it in as per those directions you linked. While I think it probably goes against the warranty, if you do it right I doubt they would realize it was done after the fact.
T61p 15.4" WSXGA+ is available now!
