Well even though it will be assymetrical, it will still be 3 gb as opposed to 1, if you want the best performance however, buy 2 2gb sticks. This will hurt your wallet but you can probably sell the 1 gb stick you will have left on ebay. You should be fine at 3gb though.

Both of them are integrated, UWB is 10 times faster than bluetooth

Yeah Maxx, you have the same story as newskin. I think there had to have been a significant order jump within the six days that you purchased yours and when I purchased mine. Your shipping date moved by 18 days. Be sure to let us know when it arrives.

Nope, There are supposedly delays with the screens and the 160 gb hard drives. Wrath's sig says T61p in transit, but he may be in the UK as they have to order preselected models that get there quicker.

Haha, I ordered the Serial ATA hard drive adapter, but it doesn't look like that will be shipping any sooner, I just don't understand why lenovo released the T61p if they didn't have any screens to support it with. It's just sad. They should have plenty of those screens laying around before they release a new product. Oh Well, I guess we would complain that they should release it if they didn't. It's a lose lose.

 

I ordered a T61P on 7/11 with a ship date of 7/30. From speaking with someone at Lenovo's customer relations, there is a delay on the UWB modules. Although, with everything Lenovo says, I'm taking that with a grain of salt.

 

Is there even any accessories that support UWB at this time?

 

Not really, there are supposedly some Wireless USB headphones out there somewhere but I can't seem to find any. By selling the T61s to all of us consumers though, lenovo is helping the WUSB industry along, cause now we will be complaining to the manufactures that we don't have any devices, and they will put them out. Belkin has a Wireless USB hub out right now but with it you have to plug the usb key into your computer. Supposedly with this new UWB adapter in our T61s you won't have to have the key.



I think we can probably expect to see a lot more WUSB devices by Q4 2007

 

Dang, just looked at the T61p site...and it says that choosing the wuxga and the 570m will delay shipping 3-4 weeks. I need a laptop in a month

Now I'm wondering if I should just go for the T60p.

 

What does the serial ata driver do?

Anyone can survive an extra 2 weeks without their laptop. Just order the sucker, and borrow a laptop from someone.

 

I enjoy reading these forums and have learned a bunch. I have used Thinkpads for several years through work (T20, T23, T40, R51), but wanted a personal desktop replacement. I had an order 2 weeks ago for T61, but cancelled and ordered a T61p last night.

- Intel A/B/G wifi card
- 9-cell battery
- 15.4" WUXGA+ (1920x1200) and Nvidia FX 570M (256MB)

I plan on the RAM upgrade and maybe a dock when it arrives (in hopefully less than 4 weeks).

It allows you to put any 2.5" SATA drive in your ultrabay slim.

It is very useful because it is hot swappable and allows you to buy a 7200 rpm drive and throw it in there.

 

I have been getting by with a frickin' usb drive going between my desktop pc and the computer lab for the past two months! You can probably wait a little bit. Besides a delay 3-4weeks is a month. That's when you say you need it.

Noooo. Look at the month that I joined. I joined right after the T61 santa rosa release. I hardly gave the T60 a second look. Definitely never ordered one. I was him hahin' around the idea of getting an ASUS, HP, or even a Latitude when I was getting impatient waiting for the T61 w/nVidia to be released.

Defintely don't go through computers fast. My other laptop is a dead Toshiba. Just started grad school this summer. Been getting by with the computer lab and a USB drive so far. This T61 will hopefully last until I'm finished with school.
