I'd say thats a damn good deal for a what it is (2.0, 100gb 7200, fingerprint, etc. (granted im going to be putting xp pro and 2gb of ram in when it gets here...so i saved about $200 by selecting vista home basic and 512mb ram))

 

I ordered mine right away on the 11th, so I will be sure to post a lot of pictures and let you guys know about it when I get it in. My estimated arrival is the 30th. So we'll see!

I did check my email, and clicked on that link...but I still didn't see the ESD.

But I just checked it again like 25 minutes ago...so my ESD is 9/6 :-(

Hmm, I guess some components delay it more than others?

My order was T7300, Vista Home Basic (XP is going on when it arrives) 512mb ram (have 2gb coming to me in the mail), Fingerprint reader, 100gb 7200rpm, DVD-R, 6cell.


My only guess is that theres some differences between my config and yours that would make the ESD like 2 weeks later. But hey, I'm supposed to be up at college on Aug 24th, and I won't be happy if I don't have my laptop by then. Hopefully what everybody is saying how the ESD is normally way off and comes a lot sooner holds true for me.

 

I hope that's right as well, t1mmer. I'm off to UMD on the 25th, and as long as it's here by then I'm fine. But don't get me wrong...if it's here in a week or so I'd be ecstatic.

 

Well my shipping date has been pretty accurate so far. I mean I ordered it 11 dreadful days ago and I have heard nothing other than in process. I really hope that it comes before the 30th like the ESD says but I doubt it will. Anyone else order on the 11th?

 

I have absolutely no idea why it's coming with the Basic label. As long as it comes in under a month, I don't really care that much what's on the outside.

 

I must say though, ordering on a saturday night sure does suck, considering it wont even start to be processed until monday morning most likely. same thing with the ram i bought...ordered friday night from newegg (2gb of crucial for $50 ) and it will be shipped out tomorrow. I should start ordering stuff on mondays.

 

Where's that memory deal I can't find it?

 

It was a rebate that ended on the 20th. For $20 off of $45 ram, it was too good to pass up.

 

My original T60p took 30+ days, actually. That's my calculated conjecture. My Lenovo rep Mohammed said it will take at least 3 weeks to build because of a WUXGA screen shortage. Factor in a 2 day transit across the Pacific, 2 days out to the gulag of death in Durham, NC, getting STUCK in customs for a week, you're looking at well over 5 weeks.

 

It's not supposed to get there on the 30th, it's supposed to ship on the 30th. you won't see it for at least 3 business days from ship date, depending where you are in the U.S. and if you don't get randomly targeted for terrorist imports and get stuck in customs for all of quarter three, as someone mentioned earlier hahaha.

 

Wow why does it take so F-ing long to ship?? I am planning to order a T61p sometime this week. I need to get it before August 27th because I will be leaving for college then. If I do place an order and it takes longer to reach me, is there any possible way to change the shipping address afterwards? Maybe I can call them up and tell them to ship it to my college address instead?

 

Looks like Lenovo kept their promise after all.. The machine was delivered a little bit earlier today with DHL.

I got some information from Lenovo that can be interesting for you who live in Scandinavia:

According to Lenovo, country specific orders will take longer time to process than region specific ones. For example, the NH05GSW is the same machine as NH05GMS. The last 2 letters identify region/country specification, and in this case, the NH05GSW is localized for Sweden only with Swedish OS and Swedish keyboard. The NH05GMS had Swedish/Finnish keyboard and during the first boot, you can choose if you for example want Swedish or English OS, and all other alternatives will be deleted.

The ordertime/shipping dates and prices are also different; if you order NH05GSW, the estimated shipping date will be 2007-08-20 and the price is around 3050 Eur (all taxes and shipment EXCLUDED), but if you order NH05GMS, the estimates shipping date is 2007-08-03 and the price is around 2885 Eur (all taxes and shipment EXCLUDED)

I hope that my jobmate does not like the computer, so I can take it! ;-)

Just Spoke with Lenovo Rep about my order, He said that they are expecting my order to be shipped between August 8th and August 15th. The screen and video cards are still on back order. I placed my order on the 11th of July on the first day that the T61p's came out. It still shows in the order window on the check status page that it is "In Process" but that doesn't really say much. I am REALLY frustrated at how non-descriptive the order status is. Anyway, I guess we will know as soon as the first guy starts a thread that says "MY T61p SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Haha, watch, if not someone else, it will be me!

 

Maybe with all the lack of Samsung screens, some LGs will be brought in for the later orders. That would be nice

 

Ok, well now they are saying, "No sooner than the 15th" for mine. I keep holding on to the false sense of hope that they will ship it out before then, but with their screens backorderd like this, it doesn't seem possible. If I was to get an e-mail saying that I get a free gift or what not, when would I get it? I know some of the other T61 buyers who had theirs delayed got a free battery because of it. Anyone know?

Obviously I am holding onto some completely unrealistic hope that I will have the laptop before I go to school on the 11th of August (obviously won't happen) like an idiot. If not at least I know I will have a great lappytop when I get it. It kinda sux that non-optional items would be delaying the shipment SO much when they easily could have the supply necessary. Whatever, I had SUCH a terrible experience ordering a vaio I canceled them (yeah one F up of theirs was they ordered 2 not 1) and now I'm (hopefully) doing it right....here's to hoping...

 

By the Beard of Zeus! what does "in process" means anyways, as in they have started building my computer or does it mean they are still processing my order? I ordered on the 12th of July. The est shipping date says 7/31/07 but Jermy's response scares the crap out of me:

 

Yup, I am scared too, they don't seem to have shipped any T61p's out except the pre-made models to people in the UK and stuff, and a couple to reviewers. I had to be within the first couple of hundred people to order and I have not had any positive changes in my ESD, only negative ones.

 

This isnt good. I was hoping to get mine before the end of August...and your original ESD was around now correct? My ESD is in one month

 

I ordered mine July 18th and have an estimated delivery date of 8/20. Today my rep called me to review some credit card info. I asked him why its such a long delay and he said that its an error on the website and it should ship in about a week. I hope to god, for this guys left nut, that he isn't lying. I seriously can't wait till august 20th.

 

Did you order a T61 or T61p? If T61p, what are the specs?

 

Maybe they got the month wrong. Maybe everyones ship dates that are supposed to be in August are really in July.

I ordered my T61p on 7/21, the est. ship day is 8/24.
Intel Core 2 Duo 7300, 512M Ram, 7200RPM 100G HDD, DVD Rec. DL, Thinkpad 11 A/B/G, 6 cell battery, no blue tooth, no fingerprint reader.
I was originally overcharged by them because the 10% coupon wasn't applied. I got it fix this morning. So now just a long waiting period...

 

Yeah my orginal ESD was the 30th of July, but that ain't gonna happen.

 

OK, here's something strange, before, my order told me my entire configuration. Now, it just says configured system with no details, it looks like this:

So has anyone who had an ESD of around this time gotten an e-mail saying that there is a delay?

 

No but I ordered mine yesterday and got the full charge put on my CC today (obviously it hasn't been shipped) so I'm on the phone with customer service now. Has anyone else had this happen? They aren't supposed to charge until it's shipped correct?

 

That's what the Lenovo Rep said to me when I called to verify my T61p order. Card Services checks to make sure the card you're ordering with is valid and there are no billing and shipping address inconsistencies. (since BOTH addresses must be on your Credit Card's profile) You should get another email (aside from your Order confirmation) stating that your order has gone through and that the next email you will get from them is when your order is shipped.

I'm patiently awaiting my first laptop purchase in order 5 years. (ESD 8/23) What can I say, I've been a desktop junkie for as long as I can remember.

Well I got 2 simultaneous emails; one from Lenovo and one from my customer service rep. I just got off the phone and he said what Lenovo does is basically freeze assets on your credit card. Since they can't technically charge you until your system ships instead they freeze the funds so you can't spend them. That way once your order ships they can instantly get the funds. He said with a CC it's no problem but with a debit card the bank sometimes takes the money out right away. The card I'm using is a CC so the next call is to the bank I guess...

 

Sounds like they are just pre-auth-ing your card for the charge. Pretty silly to me that they would hold those funds for over a month. Curious to know how your bank is handling that.

Yup, I'm in the same boat with you, if you call about your order they will most likely tell you something like August 8th-15th, cause that's what they told me. Anyway, What I think is kind of stupid is that you could have ordered a laptop today and the ESD would be 8/27 which is only 12 days after our order's ESD, yet I orderd 14 days ago. Anyway, it's just frustrating, being the first people to order seems to have no benefit with Lenovo.

Hopefully after the 30th when it doesn't ship, we will get a free gift from lenovo.

 

Just an update on my T61p shipment (in Toronto, ON area) from Lenovo Canada.

Ordered on July 11.

Shipment is released on July 26 (today).

The unit should be here in about 2~3 business days (according to the email sent from Lenovo).

Ok I realize it isn't the first, Kevin got his but he is a reviewer, and some other guy in the UK got his but he ordered a pre-made model.

 

Yes, I ordered a pre-configured model on July 11.

BTW, Lenovo Canada doesn't offer the same level of custom configurations as you'd find in US.
