I ordered mine 12/03 also. ESD for me is also 1/3/08. I'm confident we'll get it sooner. At least I hope so. I know Dell always over estimates times.. every Dell my family has ordered usually arrives within 1 week, no matter what the ship date is estimated as.. and it seems like from a majority of the posts in here, lenovo is similar..

If I check my order status at ibm.com: Status = Scheduled for Shipment.. 1/3/08 still =(

It takes too long time because of DVD burner??

Yea I have the same problem. I ordered mine on 11/24 and because of the DVD burner I got a estimate date of 12/25...We'll see what happens. I'm praying that it comes in another week or so.

so i received an e-mail today telling me "All or part of your order has shipped. In some instances your order may be shipped from more than one location, which will result in multiple notifications. You will only be invoiced for products that have shipped."

ok..so i check the website, and it's still "in process." Does this mean they just received the parts to build my order!?

 

Did you order extra accessrories? If so those might well have been shipped separate from your laptop while your laptop is still being built/delayed.

I order this on 12/8/07 from lenovo.com. The site stated it should ship within 1 to 2 weeks. After I submitted my order, it states 12/27/07 for an estimated shipping date.

Hopefully, it won't be that long.

There is difference of checking order between ibm.com and lenovo.com
It's still scheduled to ship when I check information in the lenovo.com
However It has been shipped when I check same information in the ibm.com!
I have no idea about this. Anyone has some idea?

Anyhow I orderd my t61p on 11/30. And now it is shipped(12/08 or 12/09).
Maybe DVD burner take a lot time..but DVD burner is still important!
There is no location information it say only "shipped". Do you guys have any idea about how long it will take to come to San Francisco.

It should ship on Tuesday like mines if you did 2 day shipping and I think you should call them and ask for a tracking number if they haven't sent you a email yet or you can just wait until Monday morning for the tracking #.

 

Azetab, glad to hear your laptop is en route! My total after tax was $1969, so i'll be up to about $2100 after I add 4 gigs of ram from Newegg. I opted for the free gound shipping but I'm hoping it'll show up sometime this week.

 

I ordered my first Thinkpad EVER on 12/01/07... I've been obsessively checking both lenovo.com and ibm.com. I ordered a T61p 14" with DVD burner (sadly, I do use that) so my estimated ship date is 01/03/08!

Current status is "In Process" on lenovo.com and "Scheduled to Ship" on ibm.com with a scheduled ship date as 01/03/08 as mentioned.

I'm optimistic about the dates... but *sigh*... I just hope it gets here before Christmas.

Delivery Update:

I received an email yesterday stating that all or part of my order had been shipped. Unfortunately, it was only the carrying case, which was shipped on 12/10/07. However, I just checked my order status - to my surprise, my ThinkPad was shipped today - 12/11/07!

Although I am quite please now, I just wish they could provide more accurate info on delivery dates. Since I am badly in need of a computer, I was seriously thinking about cancelling my order since I didn't want to wait until 12/27/07. Then, I accidently came across this forum and kept my fingers crossed. I like when a receive a surprise like this!

the all things that i heard when i call lenovo are really interesting, after mine was shipped.
just an hour ago i called them to cancel my order ,because i did not know it was shipped
(because i can not see anything at lenovo.com you should try ibm.com),
also they did not know it is shipped.
today i called just 3 times, and all of them told me it will be shipped first week of january(it is funny).they do not know anything,
but i love t61p.
also i sent five e-mails to websale about my order.
the first e-mail that i received
told me it will be shipped at 12th december.
and the last one told me it will be shipped first week of january.and now i am really impressed

 

If I didn't call today, my would have still be on hold for some stupid reason that was not my fault. To think... if I would have called a couple days ago, I could have my laptop already!

My 8891CTO was order with CPP (2 business day shipping)... I hope after my two calls today, the status will change sometime this week to shipped. UGH.

 

I ordered my T61p (WUXGA and DVD burner -> 3-4 weeks) on Friday, 12/07.
Today I called Lenovo and they said it's shipped and I got a tracking number.

I couldn't believe after all the 'estimated shipping date 03/01/08'-posts.

 

Damn .... I ordered 12/04 T61 with burner. Still not shipped. Called them but all say 01/04 as ship date

 

I got my T61p today 12/11.
I odered 11/30 with DVD burner.
I think it arrives quickly than I expected.
No dead pixels but it has light leakage on bottom of screen not so perfect!

I'm looking for an advice on delivery matter, I've emailed Lenovo, no answer.

My friends from US agreed to help me buy a T61p (basic WSXGA+ configuration) before Dec 19th (the end of special price offer) and then deliver it when they'll visit me in Europe in late January 2008. We are ready to place an order anytime, but the problem is, that they won't be home to collect the package between Dec 21st and Jan 1st. Is it posibble at all, that Lenovo will ship it sooner than two weeks? (it seems to be the quickest possible, reading this thread...). If not, then we could buy it on Dec 19th and just wait till January for delivery

I know it's at least difficult to predict what happens with the delivery from Lenovo, but if you have any thoughts or advice - I would be grateful!

And what happens with the delivery from Lenovo if there's no one at the given address for a couple of days? I've already asked my friends in US, they're not sure.

I hope it makes any sense (English is not my first language...)

read my post. I ordered a T61p with WUXGA-display and DVD burner last Friday and it's on the way. I got a tracking number via telephone from Lenovo.
You cannot say when Lenovo will ship. That said you must decide if you want to take the risk. And by the way, I never got a satisfying answer from Lenovo via email on any topic.
UPS will deliver the parcel, so they should know what to be done when noone's at home.

Be aware that your friends might have to pay import tax (duty) (17,5% VAT in the UK if I'm right) for the notebook unless the customs officer is not able to identify the notebook as a newly bought.

 

Yes, thanks, I'm aware of that, they'll remove original packaging, etc...

But... even if there will be an additional 17,5% VAT, I'm ready to pay it, it still will be much much cheaper than in the UK - I couldn't afford the same configuration here, no way.

I hope it's not too much off-topic... Could someone tell me please what is the UPS's procedure when no one's home? I emailed them, no response yet. I've found information on the web, that "if no one is home, a carrier will hide the package in a place the homeowner will find it" ... Is this true? Sorry, but it sounds a bit unbelievable to me

If no one is there to provide a signature, they take it back to the station. You can call them and pick it up. It's very easy.

I once ordered sporting goods at eastbay.com. I don't remenber who the parcel service was (I think UPS or USPS), but I couldn't believe my eyes when I read something like "parcel deposited in front of the door" in the online tracking service.

I hope, that will not be done with a notebook or other expensive stuff.
