True! From my experience, in UK and in Poland it is at least one week... I hope it works the same in US, I'll try to find more details about that, but if someone knows...

One week should be enough (hope so!) if I place the order on Dec 19th and the shipping will be more/less one week later. It could be collected on no later than on January 2nd. A bit risky, but it seems to be the only way.

OK, I've read through the massive FAQ on ups.com, and as far as I understand, they will try to deliver for a three business days, and then if no one's home, they will leave a letter, based on which you can change the delivery address, reschedule the delivery, etc. So it looks like they will keep the parcel for some time... Good stuff!

I would highly recommend the "call and nag" method. However, rather than dealing with the call center, I spoke with a sales rep on Monday to express my displeasure with their inability to provide accurate shipping dates. He stated that my delay was due to the 15.4 WSXGA. I replied that there was no mention of this when I ordered my ThinkPad. It mentions the DVD burner and the 9-cell battery would cause delays. But, there was no mention that the 15.4 screen would cause a delay. He replied, :"I know this sucks. But, this is all I can tell you."

At the end of our conversation, I then asked what their cancellation policy was. He stated that you can cancel prior to shipment. It was shipped the next morning!!! I received the bag today. My ThinkPad is in transit to Louisville, KY. Hopefully, I will have it NLT tomorrow afternoon!

That's exactly how you should handle it. You paid good money for their product and it is their duty to satisfy their customers. You have to stand strong and clearly express your displeasure with a firm and assertive voice. Don't be offensive but assertive.

 

Ordered on 12/10 with an 1/10/2008 estimated ship date. I hope like some of the others that the ship dates are happening much faster than they are showing. The 4 weeks was said to be due to the dvd/cd writer. Sounds like the "call and nag" method might have some value .......

i called two times to cancel(i told them i will order it again without dvdburner but they told me they can change it without canceling then i trusted them but it was not changed)
i told them if it is not shipped in a week , i had to cancel it because i will go to another country, i will not be able to get it.
then i canceled it 12/11 and he sent a request to cancel my order, after an hour ago i got the e-mail about shipping.
but i am not sure whether all of these things affected the shipping date.
i am sure about that they do not know anything about what is going on at China(warehouse)

Delay probably from the WUXGA, DVD RW, but oddly enough, the 90 W combo power adapter was the last thing to clear.

Ok, so I ordered my laptop on 12/3/07 and it was supposedly shipped on 12/10/07, and I actually received it today 12/12/07! That is awesome!

 

the 'rescheduled delivery' date disappeared and changed a few times and now it is back to 12/13, w00t! my baby arrives today and i will get it tomorrow.

 

Hard for me to complain!

I was one of those order late Nov and go the est ship date of 1/3/08.

My t61p is out for delivery today.. lucky for me, I'm working from home today. So now I sit and watch for the UPS guy. Come to Papa.

it's going to be rough letting it warm up before I turn it on. My g.skill ram is sitting here waiting and I'm currently getting all of the drivers downloaded so I can get the clean install done immediately. Now just to decide what Linux distro to load.. thinking gutsy but maybe backtrack .. oh snap please hurry ups guy.

 

I just called lenovo again and was given the DVD recorder delay until 1/03/08 speech... I've decided that if it doesn't reach my hand by Christmas, I'm cancelling my order. Sad though, I really wanted a Lenovo.

So guys, there is hope for the January dates. I did call and talked to Lenovo A LOT though... both order status people and sales people. I asked them about cancellation today, and tonight the order was shipped.

 

...and today I've received an email from Lenovo, saying that there was a incorrect shipping address given with the order (true - my mistake ), and I should give them a call to correct it. Unfortunately the line is busy or I'm put through to the answering machine that says that I should leave my number, and they'll call me back (I did it, but as it is UK number, I don't think they'll do it...)

So, my question is: should I still try to call Lenovo, or maybe it's better to simply place a new order with correct address etc... ?

i think
even if you want to change the adress with correct one, they will order it again because after you ordered anything, it is not possible to change anything(shipping adress or any configuration).
after you are sure about that it(wrong adress) wont be shipped in anyway, you should order another one at website.

I had an orginal expected ship date of 1/10/2008 from a 12/10/2007 online purchase. I received an email today that the unit has left the factory and is due to be delivered here next Thursday on 12/20/2007. As much as that is really good news, I can't help but wonder how the shipping dates are so far off ....... Boils down to 10 days from purchase to (anticipated) receipt. Not that I am complaining ... or that there is anything wrong with that .... Really looking forward to the 20th .......

I would also like to mention that my credit card has not been charged yet. The day after I had ordered it, I saw that there was an outstanding charge for the amount of my laptop that was waiting to be authorized on my billing. Now, the pending authorization is gone, however, i dont see any charges to my card? Free laptop???

 

i can tell you only that you will be billed after the delivery of your computer.
and also even if there is no money at your account, you will be billed and it will be under 0 (like -1,450).i know these things because i tried it.if you want to get it free you may try to close your account before delivery.

and i do not know anything about stuffs you mentioned.

 

All of that looks perfectly normal. It's on its way to you and making its way through customs. As far as when you'll get it, you're now at the mercy of both customs and the busiest shipping and delivery period of the year.
