What? What're you talking about Lazy?

No one's starting rumors. People ARE talking to Lenovo CSR's, and finding out critical laptops get shipped first. Lenovo takes typically 3-4 weeks to ship almost all their custom configured laptops. We all on these boards have been waiting. For months. Your join date is July 2007. You're a freaking T61P NOOB. My join date is May 2007 because that's when I started posting. That means I've been watching this thing since before T61 came out. What do you know Lazy? Most of us have been watching this thing since MARCH, if not before.

You know what Lazy, don't put your laptop on critical, don't call into Lenovo and get your laptop expedited, nor get the the free battery or 100.00 discount , nor fat wallet, nor amex tailormade, just go down to BestBuy and buy a magically and perfectly configured laptop with no wait time and no hassles, and no phone calls to Lenovo, somehow worry free, at full retail price. You're an insult to everyone who tries to find and provide information to help THIS community.

We should all listen to you because YOU have been a useful part of this conversation? Oh wait. You're not helpful. Get lost.

    1. Ordered my T61P on 7/13/2007.
    2. On order confirmation, shown estimated ship date (ESD) of 7/26/2007
    3. On 7/17, shipped docking station & a new ESD of 08/01/2007 for T61P.
    4. Last night, they sent an apology mail saying it wll take another 1-30 days more.
    5. Today(8/2), the order status shows an ESD of 09/03/2007.
    6. Checked Lenovo Rep. Not useful; mostly aplologies and a reason: "20 business days of delays for 15.4 screen" .
    7. I guess... by 9/3 they will not have shipping boxes to ship!

BTW, Where is the love you two?

Remember, you are both on the same side here..... You both use Windows. ;)

Haha fair enough. My point was only that in a thread like this where no one knows anything (including reps/managers) stating stuff like "no one that ordered after the 12th will get a laptop before september" is very counterproductive. Anyways, I am confident the T61p is one of the best laptops on the market. I'm willing to wait.

I doubt any of these sales reps have a clue. They must keep them in a dark box and feed them very limited scraps of info.

Sony has released the SZ650 (a 1330 like machine) and I found a place that has one in stock. After what was a really bad experience with Sony a decade ago I want to buy the onsite warranty. So I called Sony directly to find out.
I asked the sales rep if they had any SZ6 series notebooks in stock. Her answer was "what's the SZ6?" Long story short, clueless about a currently shipping model.

Lenovo reps have no clue about 14" 4:3 displays. Clearly they have no clue about shipping.

These are not techno geeks scouring the internet for information. They are low paid workers who answer telephones. Half a rung up the ladder from a telemarketer.

The Dell reps are no brighter (most of them seem like they are in India and have had computers described to them, but haven't actually used one.)

I have no idea where you'll get real answers, but I highly doubt you'll get it from one of these entry level workers.

    PS: I did order the SZ650 :D a T7500, 13.3" LED, 2GB, 160GB, DVDR. $1900 delivered. I guess if the P ever shows up I'll try to turn a buck on fleabay.

Well, my t42 screen completely died on me today. It's now 100% dead. And my ETA on the t61p is end of the month. I'm screwed.

On another note, the XPS m1330 at Dell appears to now be shipping to quite a few folks...

I got regular shipping. UPS is calling it expedited shipping. Current situation is:

THE SHIPMENT IS BEING HELD BY BROKERAGE FOR REASONS BEYOND UPS' CONTROL

It's in Louisville, KY right now. I read about other people getting this message on their shipment and I think it just means the laptop is going through customs.

To the poster about the HP 8510w. They won't start allowing customizable configurations until about late-august or so. Because of this, I doubt they have supply issues like seen here. Churn out the masses in similar configuration until initial demand is met, then allow customization. Annoying, but effective.

Evening all. My T61p arrived today :)

OK before you get excited I live in Australia and order a preconfigured model (we get no choice). Placed the order on the 20th Jul, shipping confirmation yesterday and arrived today.

Now going through the laborious task of moving every thing from my T42p. Impressions so far, the screen has a far amount of light bleeding in from the bottom, certainly compared to the T42p. You don't notice it until the screen displays all black though. Otherwise very happy so far...

The supervisor I talked to said that because of the mass amounts of shipping/customer issues with the T61p model at the moment, it can take anywhere between 1-6 days for changes to be reflected on the Lenovo site (well at least ones that pertain to shipping). So if anyone is nervous, give it a few more days and there's a possibility that you will be pleasantly surprised (or he could just be trying to make me STFU and be more patient).

I heard the same thing just now when I called in about a warranty question. I did, however, by talking to the service rep get my order put on the critical list! Nice! :) It's funny what a bit of background chatter can do. He said by Mondayish I should see the dates improve. Also, he said that if you have 3 different ship dates(for accessories) that you can just assume they'll ship the entire thing in one piece. Is this correct? I've thought I've heard of them shipping docks and other stuff earlier... Can anyone comment?

Yah, not so much. I ordered the Laptop Messenger Bag with my T61p order (just to test this very idea, and it was cheaper then retail with SPP discount) and the bag showed up 2 days ago. Both items are under the same order number. The Laptop of course is still "in process".

OMG all of you guys are making me so nervous and afraid for my T61p...=[

I ordered July 26 and the ESD is August 28th. According to the rep I talked to, my laptop might possibly ship before August 28th. She did not point out any delays or what nots that might push back the ESD.

The status on my order is still the same: IN PROCESS ESD: 08/28/07. Now, I'm starting to have doubts about it.

Should I call and demand to be added to critical list too?

I really reallly REALLY need my laptop by August 27th when I leave for school!!

I called Lenovo today to see about getting on the critical list...after 30 minutes on hold listening to their stupid recordings I hung up.
    Bone heads.

I'm getting less and less pleased with my choice of lenovo all the time.

It'll be interesting to see if the Sony Vaio SZ650 I ordered yesterday will do what I need.

Welll, I really wish that I received it before I leave for school because I will be very far from home. It will be more of a hassle if it arrives when I am gone. Then I have to have my parents ship over to the east coast or maybe I should just change the shipping address now or something. Shizzles....

You are right! T61P can only be ordered with 15.4 WUXGA TFT. So........

By the way, Lenovo.com suddenly turned honest! Now, they flag "Selecting this option may delay your shipment 3-4 weeks." under 15.4 WUXGA TFT and NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M (256MB)! Nice thing is you can not unselect them!

    Wow...

So awhile back I posted that I ordered July 17, with a ESD of August 17. I just got an email from Lenovo, saying my new ESD is September 5, and they CHANGED MY ORDER! They downgraded my DVD drive, battery, Vista, wi-fi, changed my PCI slot set-up...something else too. My price went up too.

This wasn't a "We regret to inform you, your product's not going to ship until Jesus' second coming" email...it was a brand new one, saying "Thanks for your order." I'm so effin confused.

What the hell is their deal?!

For one I dont believe that that one guy on here that posted he has a t61p on the way to him being held at customs. For one thats because I was told on four different calls that they did not have a single screen when they released this model on the market and all the laptops were waiting a shipment from china to china of the screen for this model. With that said I was told then when screens come in, 20days they expected that the critical list was first then the others.. now with everyone on the critical list I suppose that We might need to call and get on the critical expediated priority list to get anything.. Now the student who ordered like four days ago needs to get real as to being critical.. And as for beating the system by stacking a hundred coupon codes on top of each other some people here dont have the time to waste to reconfigure quotes over and over again till the laptop is free, for some the time spent with all these fat this and amex that and july whatever take too much time.. I dont expect anyone who ordered a laptop this month to get it for 2 months or more.. If you read this and you must have a laptop by some deadline Lenovo custom orders are NOT FOR YOU. So dont order then spend months and months crying you have nothing..

    Thanks
    B

This is new. They don't change the config or pricing that I know of. It might be a system error. Call them right away...(its late...M-F 9-7 EST) ...wait on hold for an hour and then please re-confirm your config and push your order to the end of the line... ;)

My machine T61, T7300, 1400x900 Wide screen, 140M Videocard ordered on July 21 with 10% coupon, 5% SSP, 3.5% fatwallet, 5% TAILORMADE MAKE IT $1000 after tax. Estimated ship on Sep 6, but Just ship today, few minute ago base on the information from check status website.

I do not make any phone call....It is automatically.

So I think we do not have to call. All the machine will me shipped very soon compair to estimated date. And also Lenovo have all video card and LCD to make T61 I think.

Good luck to all. Do you know how long does it take for shipping ??????

There is a soothing, yet messy truth to what Brusso is trying to say, but never the less the point is made. Even if you are on the Double Secret Probation Critical Crisis Emergency List, don't expect miracles from Lenovo in North Carolina, if the issue is in China. Customer service can only give you so many updates from their assembly factories in the other parts of the world. Most of those customser sevice reps don't wake up everyday wondering if your order has shipped, either. And for all those impatient people trying to ninjitsu their way on the Double Secret Probation Critical Crisis Emergency List, just remember: If everyone has priority, then no one has priority.

You're posting your T61 success shipping in a T61p thread. We may or may not have to call.

Even if you can have Vista, please think twice. Sony is a great product until it breaks-especially cool display. But their reputation is -F in support & service. The Estimated ship date is anyway 8/13. So I'd rather wait for the T61P... Its just a 2-3 weeks at the begining rather than while you are working on your one of a lifetime project.
Minor Note:It does not have "Intel Turbo Memory 1GB" or Fingerprint Reader

Heh, I was kidding. I don't want a glossy screen.

Maybe a HP 15.4" business line though. Only competitor to the T61p

In the past, I have noticed that the HP build quality was really bad. I am not sure about their current status. I don't think you have any comparable machine with XP. The wider dv9500t may come close... but then no XP!

I'm under the impression that their business line is actually well built, whereas their consumer line is so-so.

I'm kinda boggled that you'd ask that question. All of us before you are pushed to 8/30. That kind of means that if we get pushed to the front of the line, and we're all getting it on 8/30, then you're not getting it before the ones in front of you for two reasons. a) you're not on critical b) you purchased after. The only exception I can think of is if you bought a pre-fab version.

the lesson to learn with lenovo is never trust them, and always find out what's going on.

what does that mean? you can say, blah blah, internet rumor, and attack everyone bringing you information, or you can take the information under advisement, and try to make the best for yourself.

I didn't expect having to wait 3 f'ing months for lenovo to build my laptop, like it looks like I just may have to do. I don't have any experience ordering from lenovo, but quite frankly, their business ethic sucks. Why the hell would you put out a system that you cant build right away?

Beware again: Their "Extreme power" series does not have the Santa Rosa (centrino Duo/800MHz) platform. Their Balanced Mobility does have the 800MHz but then no option to configure. I guess its worth a wait to get our T61P :)
