This is actually a very interesting point. I have absolutely no idea if it relates to computers as well but.... I have 2 factories over here in China and we actually do just that. We make different qualities of our products, being cables and cultured marble, depending on the final destinations.

So without proof mind you I would have to say that it is possible that that occurs. I know all my manufacturing friends do the same in all kinds of different products.

    Just my two cents.

This is why I got to get myself a better computer. Went from being a rockclimbin, backpackin bum living out of Buddist Temples and dorm rooms to starting my own factories. Amazing what you can do in China with no money down.

So I need a business laptop cause writing in a notebook just doesn't cut it anymore hence the mighty T60!

Waiting till the end of the month though to see about the widescreen.

Thanks Momo. I must say I was completely computer illiterate before finding this site. I mean even worse. I knew absolutely nothing about computers beyond turning them on and sending an email or surfing the web.

I need to upgrade my life so to speak and a laptop is a top priority. After finding this site I used it to 'educate' myself. I learned what a CPU and a GPU are as well as an HDD and wireless. Still have a lot to learn obviously as sometimes when you guys go all technical you might as well be speaking Russian (usually they'd say Chinese but I could actually understand this :D ).

Plus you guys are so much more understanding and helpful than what i am used to from the forum I most frequent for rockclimbers. There you must tread very lightly or its all out flame war.

So I am very greatful for all I have learned thanks to this site and the people who take the time to respond to all the NooB questions, taking the fear out of purchasing such an expensive product.

    Hats off to you all.

    Joe

    Thank You.

Your name is 'Joe'. I'll assume your not actually Chinese, and your english would support that hypothesis. Did you go to China and open up shop?

Yes I am from Ontario, Canada. I left about 5 1/2 years ago for Asia. Was supposed to be a 1 year trip but have yet to make it back. After a year of working in Korea I went to Thailand for a 2 week break.

Well that 2 weeks turned into almost 5 months of rock climbing every single day. Rainy season hit and got very depressing so took off to China with a couple of guys. We went to study KungFu in a Buddist Temple on top of a mountian. They lasted 1 week I stayed in the Temple for 2 months. I have been in China ever since. Mostly rockclimbing but met a Chinese girl and had a baby so the rockclimbing bum life just wouldn't cut it anymore with the new huge responsibilities. With no cash I started my own factory. Very easy to do when you are a white guy here with a Chinese girl.

We are doing very well now. I have no business experience at all and have just been keeping notes on a pad of paper. We have gotten to large to do that anymore so need to upgrade and get with the times. So I am wanting to buy the T60.

I will be heading back to Canada in a few years as it is to stessful living here.

    Thats my story.

Wow, amazing story at that. How old were you when you left from Ontario (I too am in Ont.)? What were you doing before? I know there is great potential in China, a great potential for business expansion. Definately drop a line when you return, (i'm in K-W - technology hub of Canada).

Hi Momo. I actually graduated as a cop. Was going to join the TO force but wanted to see more before commiting. I was 26 when I left.

Potential is not the right word to use it is much better. Just take me for example. No business experience whatsoever nothing (not to mention zero funds available). I now have my own factory and am right this moment looking into purchasing a large swath of land so that I can build a new bigger factory 2000+sq m.

Thing is I won't be back for several years yet as I want to have enough money in the bank to be able to afford the lifestyle of the rich. I don't see this being a problem. Starting a business here is not like back home where the majority of them fail or do not turn a profit for 5+ years after starting. I started taking profit the very first day. This business will not fold either only continue to grow and grow until one day somebody buys me out. That is the plan and most likely it will occur.

The most important thing is I am not special by any means. Anybody can do this! It is that easy!

I should consider comming to China, I didn't realize how easy it was. Labour is cheap there too. What do you specialize in producing exactly? I'll assume you don't have a website just yet, considering you are only now looking into getting a laptop.

By the way, are the prices on Lenovo China cheaper than Can? [They are probably not cheaper than US - lowest prices i've seen].
