i don't game on my X1, but if you stress the CPU and GPU of the laptop enough it would hit 80 degrees + within even airconditioned room. If you game on the X1 it is probably advisable to use a cooler fan on the bottom of the laptop, this should reduces your temperature of the laptop by around 5 to 7 degrees.

does anyone know, if it is possible to have a screen on the hdmi and display port at the same time? so i can have 3 screens (including the one in the notebook) running at the same time?

you can't have the three screens on at the same time on the ThinkPad X1 unless you use an USB2DVI adapter and forgo the use of either the miniDP or HDMI port (if you are planning to use the internal LCD).

I am very very close to buy a refurbished X1 13.3 inch with an 128 SSD and i5.
However I don't know if I just fell in love with it and if this would be a stupid move.
Now I can see that very few forum users bought that machine. Why? Is it really that bad?
I want a decent CPU, good keyboard and lightweight + robust machine to carry around. I want to go for post graduate studies and budget is an issue. My budget would pretty much fit the 700 USD I found for the refurbished one (living in Switzerland).
So 3 questions:
1) What is the newest stand concerning battery life? Can I reach the 5 hours?
2) Can I replace the internal battery (because I want to keep it for at least 3-4 years) with tools and screwdrivers?
3) Is the model X1 1294 a good one ... resp. are there some models from the beginning which are less good as newer one, or is it just the different configurations.
Hopefully I am soon one of the lenovo community
