Comparing HP to Thinkpad is like comparing a cheap knockoff $20 Jaguar knife to a Benchmade titanium knife.

I reiterated my point by staring that regardless of the fact that HP has plans to release a 2560p with a 12.5" screen, my point still stands. Lenovo is the only company that has been actively manufacturing 12.5" laptops for the past three months, and as of such, there is scarcely enough demand to warrant panel manufacturers creating a 12.5" HD+ display, when creating any sort of new display requires vast amounts of upfront costs. -
-
The price went up from $850 to $889 on the Lenovo site.
Glad I managed to nab mine for $714 after taxes! -
Compare Intel® Products,
mobile CPU comparison. i wish the i5 came with usb3. -

dell has had 12" laptops for a while now, both the vostro and latitude series, i dont think there is any reason why they'd stop now?
-
Its a fairly safe bet that the IPS panels are LG, and most of their plants are in South Korea. -
Stupid question, but I just realised I can get a almost maxed out configuration locally for quite a decent deal. Problem is, no IPS screen. Is it possible to get the IPS screen somehow and change it by myself? Will it void warranty?

-
I fianlly ordered mine. I will get my ram elsewhere but still its cheaper than my X300 lots were.

I got a similar configuration with the following changes:
320 gb 7200 hdd
6 cell battery
4gb ram
no battery warranty
I paid $1363 + $10 shipping. Not sure where you made your purchase or if it is more expensive where you are but I'd consider trying to renegotiate your deal if I were you. I am in the US and bought mine through a rep over the phone. Either way I'm sure you'll be happy with your new machine! -
Ya SSD and 3 year Onesite is what drives it up
yank those out and its back down to where you are. and I did use my reg rep.

I also have the 3 yr onsite. So the difference is:
SSD: $280
2gb: -$80
bat war: $139
9 cell: $10
$351 difference on specs
Anyway, all that matters is if you're satisfied with your deal. I'm sure we'll both love our new machines. Best of luck! -
I took advantage of the past sale/coupon to get my X220 lower then the T420 I sent back a week ago. Thanks to some on this forum. Thank you again

Just ordered:

2gb Ram
320gb hdd
Webcam
Fingerprint
IPS
Bluetooth
9 Cell battery
6205 wireless card
2-3 day shipping
866.03 Pre tax
Estimated ship date 5/12 (surprised because my canceled order said 5/17)
Seeing as they raised their initial pricing and 9 cell battery upgrade (30 dollars). I feel I got an amazing deal. If I wanted to config this system today, it would be 1,189 pre tax -
Aw crap I should've ordered...price went up 10% today
Any way to get the price on my saved cart? -
I ordered the pre-configured X220 Tablet through Cost Central using Google Checkout and it got cancelled because apparently Google Checkout can't handle that it's on "special order" and only works for things that are currently in stock.
Not a big deal, because I only had to reorder it using Cost Central's checkout method, but it puts me back by 4 days since my original order date of last Friday! Oh well, the price didn't change at least haha. -
-
Just got one yesterday through Provantage. Did anyone else buy through them? Any estimate on ship dates from resellers? The Provantage rep said mid-May on my config (X220 Topseller 4296-2WU) and that I'd get an email if the price went up or down. Is this usual?!?
-
.
Now, I just need the X220T! -
I just called a rep and he wouldn't honour the LENOVOVIP coupon code... I'm gonna try to call another rep later.
-
I talked to a rep and he said it had to be quoted yea.
You guys think the prices will go back down anytime soon? I really should've ordered last week -
-
-
Prices always go up with Lenovo after the initial launch. I can't see them coming down (except for maybe some 10-20% coupons) for at least a year.
-
So I ordered yesterday and today get an email saying that my order had shipped!!!
Then I click on the tracking link and read that it was only for the 12" sleeve -
-
The CostCentral preconfig system is looking better and better! They told me it is backordered and should be available in 2/3 weeks.
-
Same here. Shipped the External dvd burner only, and thought, wow that was fast, but came up short as to the main system. Oh well, I have time to kill

For anyone that ordered from CostCentral I spoke with a rep and certain preconfigured models (Top Sellers) are being delivered to CC, starting Friday 4/29. Thats the first incoming shipment they will have to send out to customers. No word on how fast those will be moved out the door, how many are coming in, or whether an order would be filled.
Just figured I'd share the little news I have!
-
I'm curious why anyone would purchase the battery warranty? Why wouldn't you just buy a new battery down the road when you can get them cheaper?
-
You did good gimmin74
By the looks of it, you did not opt for the extended warranty, so the price is in line with what I paid but I have the 3 yr onsite warranty plus spills and drops. -
That was my thinking as well. Me thinks, the battery warranty coverage of 3 yrs is telling in a way. Many purchase a new battery each yr and if you add that up for three yrs it will cost more over the warranty. Lenovo however is counting that you will keep the battery longer and not replace it, unless it goes bad. Wonder how long have members have had their original battery ???
Just my simple minded thinking on this. You can purchase another batter for less than the extended 3 yr warranty and if you take care of that battery it should last you longer. -
What is the best way to talk a rep into giving you a deal? Do you just need a coupon code? Some of these prices would make me get one right away or upgrade to an i7 but from a couple online chats, the reps seemed to stick with the listed price.
Additionally, what is the word on the factory 128GB SSD option from Lenovo? It would only be $30 extra to get it factory installed vs. buying a C300 and having to deal with making a new install of Win7. Is it still worth it to gain the SATA 6Gb/s capability vs. reliability of a factory installed SSD? -
-
Tried to get in on the LENOVOVIP deal, but couldn't get it to ship to Canada. Figured I'd get my sister to order it for me, but the deal was dead.
For people in the US, you can still use the (removed) with the coupon code USXAPRILSAVINGS2011 which gives a pretty similar price (the setup I want is $1220 vs $1170 w/ LENOVOVIP -- so it's not too bad, considering the quote I got from a rep was $1390...)
Has anyone in Canada found a good rep/price? -
-
I decided to purchase my X220 Tablet from Cost Central instead of Lenovo SPP (Shareholder Purchase Program) with "LENOVOVIP" when it was valid.
The price for my setup was almost exactly the same, $1,829.79 from Cost Central versus $1,830.56 from Lenovo SPP with "LENOVOVIP"
What killed the Lenovo SPP purchase for me was the sales tax which added up to $148.28 (shipped to Las Vegas, NV).
No sales tax ordering from Cost Central which sealed the deal for me.
I don't really need the Ultrabase 3 and the DVD Burner for the Ultrabase that comes with this package but I can sell these on eBay for a few hundred bucks.
Here's what I purchased:

I pulled the trigger on Friday, but here (better late than never) are the specs for my tablet. I went heavy (i7) because as a developer I'll be running application servers, VMs, etc. Every little bit helps and I plan on using this system for years.
- i7
- 4 GB RAM (single DIMM) (plan on adding another for 8 GB, see below)
- 2x2 ANT screen
- webcam
- 250GB 5400 RPM drive (plan on swapping for Crucial C300 128 GB SDD)
- 6 cell battery (would have preferred 9, but doesn't seem to be an option for the tablet)
- bluetooth
- 6205 wireless
- no fingerprint scanner
- 3 years priority on-site + 3 years ThinkPad Protection (I know Thinkpads are tough, but I have dogs, cats and kids. You would be amazed at some of the accidents.)
- Really want to get the slice but still hasn't shown back up on the site
Total before tax and slice: $1,555.16
Est. Ship Date: 6/2
Got the deal by working with the ever-popular Mo. My card was finally charged this morning, so I called him again to see if that meant it had started assembly. I also asked him why my ship date was 6/2 in the quote & order, but I'm able to build an identical system on the site right now and get an estimate of 5/17 instead. He assures me that while he can't explain the differing estimates, no one "behind me in line" is going to get prioritized above me. It is supposedly first-order, first-serve. The only thing that should impact that is specific part shortages, of which he's not currently aware of any. He says my machine is being worked on now, so hopefully there are no supply issues and it'll be on its way in a matter of days (my optimism, not his).
QUESTION:
As mentioned above, I configured the system with a single 4GB DIMM (the minimum possible). I need to end up with 8GB total. My plan is to order one more 4GB DIMM to drop into the remaining slot. Is that going to work, or will having two non-identical DIMMs cause issues?
Also, has anyone seen the slice on the website since it disappeared from the accessories tab of the configurator? Maybe listed as a standalone product somewhere? And does anyone know if the tablet is physically compatible with the 9-cell X220 battery, even if they're not selling them together for whatever reason? I'm guessing no and I just misread some of the reviews, but hope springs eternal. -

Hey guys, i want to get the X220t i5 version.
Unfortunately, i didnt buy the I5 when the VIP coupon was working, i could have gotten the I5,4GB,BT,6205 wireless, 720p camera, 240GB 5200rpm for $1250!!!
So now i need to buy it at around $1450!!
However, i have noticed that alot of people talk about the costcentral Lenovo ThinkPad X220 Tablet 4296 for $1274.53 (nice round figure).
From reading through the forums, the site seems to be legit? What am i missing? It seems to be the X220t, with I5, 4GB ram, 320GB 7200rpm, 6205, BT with 3 years warranty. I would love to buy it but just need to know if there is something dodgy going on?
Also, what does this mean? Is this the 720p HD optional upgrade?
Notebook Camera
Camera Type Integrated
Sensor Resolution 0.92 Megapixel
Capture Resolutions 1280 x 720
Thanks guysI will be ordering from international waters so i dont know if buying from costcentral is a good idea or not! Hopefully international warranty will be valid in australia
-
Costcentral doesn't ship internationally. And they only take USA credit cards.
