Okay their prices are officially on crack. Core i5-2410M, webcam, win7 home, 9cell was 802 yesterday, 845 this morning, and now down to 819. So right now they got it back to yesterday's pricing just with a more expensive 9cell.

I guess I learned a lesson; next time buying a Thinkpad, don't hesitate to snatch it.

Price went up. 9 cell battery is now $30 instead of $10.

    Hi all!

This is my first post. Thanks to people and info from this forum, I ordered my X220T direct from Lenovo. And the price is a steal!

    Order date: 24-Apr

    Spec:
    Core I7-2620M
    4G Memory (1 DIMM)
    Fingerprint reader
    Camera HD 720p
    6 Slice Battery
    Case Sleeve

The rest are default. The sleeve got shipped on 26-Apr.
    The X220T estimated on 20-May.
    The slice battery est. 28-May

    Price: 1490.38
    Tax: 128.55
    Total: 1618.93

I'm going to modify the order because forgot to include the bluetooth.
If for some reason I cannot get the bluetooth in, where can I order the parts?

Later I plan to DIY Intel WiMAX 6250 upgrade.

Btw, does all Sierra Wireless High-speed 3G/4G modules compatible with X220T?

can you link us to the costcentral page? if you have the exact model number, you could look up the model on lenovo's site to see if it comes with a camera or not.

What's the latest method to get the cheapest X220 possible? I'm finally ready to lock in my order, but can only get it down to $966 with a 10% coupon. Is that as good as it's going to get?

Yes, you have to remove the plastic spacers.

Does anyone know if we have to buy the 7mm screws or can we use the ones from the HDD?

If we have to buy'em which ones and from where?

My first post as well. I registered to respond to your first post. :)

I forgot to add bluetooth to my x220t when I ordered it and it is now too late to change the order without canceling. I did a bit of poking around and found the part number (60Y3271) of the bluetooth module and ordered it from IBM parts. Once I receive the laptop, I'll let you know how hard it was to install the module.

FYI there are two bluetooth modules that look identical, one for $30 and one for $34. I went with the cheaper one.

Here's a link to the maintenance manual that describes the procedure: Lenovo Support - Hardware Maintenance Manual - ThinkPad X220 Tablet and X220i Tablet

EDIT: The one thing I'm still wondering about is if there is an led bluetooth indicator on the x220t like there is on my T60p. If there is, I may need to order a new indicator cover.

    Quick update on the order

My original order date was on 4/19 mid afternoon.
The estimated ship date Lenovo has on my order is 5/13

I talked to a CS today and according to him the computers should start shipping on the 4Th.

I got an email saying part or all of my order has been shipped, even though I had an estimated date of 6/6. I wonder if they're just sending the warranty/service agreement, as that is what was attached to the email.

My X220 shipped today. I ordered April 20th early morning. I received the shipment email around 1pm, and the order status site was updated around 3pm. No tracking details yet, but I did get 2 day shipping so I'm crossing my fingers it will make it before the weekend.

The final coupon doesn't work for x220t - not sure about x220 proper... The real answer is to go back in time one week and order when the 15% csr code was still working. :-/

This worked. And the voucher at checkout takes off another 10%. I'm down to $870. Thanks heaps.

EDIT: Can anybody give me the dimensions and weight of the package the X220 comes in? And what county of Portland, Oregon is the comGateway.com delivery address, if anyone knows... Lenovo checkout needs it, comGateway doesn't supply it anywhere that I can see.

    Cheers

Well I registered at the IBM shareholder site and logged in which I think is an immediate 10% discount, and this code for a further 10% off X220 was on the right side of the main screen before I went in to order - USXEDGEX0428.

Finally ordered. Exciting stuff... as long as they don't wait until the 18th to ship as specified :( .

Code works until May 4th, by the way.

Just need to decide whether I am going to buy and try inserting a de-shelled Intel 510 now. Will it be stable in there without the casing? If not, how to stablise it? Just wrap up anti-static stuff around it until it fits in tightly or something? Is there a resource somewhere that I can learn more about this process or about tinkering with SSDs generally?

I would suggest against using Amazon checkout. I used it the first time ordering fro Lenovo and there's no benefit what-so-ever. In fact, if you use Amazon to check out, Lenovo won't be able to price match your purchase later on if price drops or something.

You won't notice any difference in performance between it and the 2520. Apart from the 2410's slightly lower clock and turbo, it also has a lower graphic clock at 1.2 GHz instead of 1.3 GHz. It also does not have VT-d, which might make it less suitable for running a virtual machine, but I'm no expert on that.

If the 2520 was no more than about $50 more, I'd take it. Otherwise, probably not

let me ask... does purchasing a warranty mean that you can't (shouldn't) replace the hard drive for instance, until the warranty is up?

I'm debating between a 2 or 3 year onsite with accident protection

The hard drive is user replaceable. You can replace it withought voiding the warranty, but if the hard drive fails Lenovo won't fix the hard drive (and very possibly the computer. Companies will frequently try to pull such stunts like "how do you know the new hard drive didn't cause your monitor to stop working"...)
