Well, this is all very comforting. Considering I was just about to order through the certain mail forwarding service. :p

    Keep us updated.

Omg dude, same here!! I don't know whether to be worried about quality control being it shipped so fast--and the fact it was a DOORBUSTERS sale, or to be encouraged. But it's SHIPPING!!!

Me too. Got a super-sweet Mastercard deal, and it shipped today. I hope we don't receive cardboard boxes filled with random pinball machine parts!

Edit: My order statement contains this text:
'NOTE: Item traveled rapid eight story journey in clutches of criminally depressed assembly worker. Thank you for taking advantage of this deal, cheap American!"

When might we expect these at our doors in the continental US?

(The humorous note listed above is entirely fake, and was created by me for levity. Please do not cancel my sweet, sweet laptop, Lenovo. I still love you baby)

So I went ahead and got a rep to place the order for me, but I'm still unhappy about how their silly online system doesn't work properly

But I guess it's not that big of a deal, can't wait till I get my X220 :D It says ship date 6/11/11, I really hope it actually ships by then...I need it by 6/26.

Unless the 4 gb ram and the 320 HD are free upgrades, remove those and upgrade it yourself. You'll save yourself a lot of money. ALso, make sure you go thru Barns and Noble Gold (gives you a HUGE discount) and utilize coupon codes.

Ok thanks, the 4gb ram and 320 HD are the two free upgrades. And that is the price for the config I got after going through the B&N site and applying a 5 % discount. The macbook pro I am selling for this was $300 more with less power so to me this is a great deal.

I'm waiting for the next big sale, hopefully Memorial Day. Last time I did an all-out config for $1,800, regretted spending that much so I sent it back. I'd like to end up around $1,000 for a config with SSD so I'm waiting...

I am also in doubt if I should go for this offer.

    Intel Core i5-2540M Processor (2.6GHz, 3MB L3, 1333MHz FSB)1
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 6412
12.5" Premium HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, Mobile Broadband Ready, 2x2 Antenna
    Intel® HD Graphics 3000
    4 GB DDR3 - 1333MHz (1 DIMM)8
    No Fingerprint Reader
320 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm4
    ThinkPad Battery 29++ (9 cell)60
    Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 (2x2 AGN)10
    Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradable65
    3YR Onsite + 3YR ThinkPad Protection
    51J0476 ThinkPad 12W Case Sleeve

    Total: $1,113.99

I might get an additional 10% discount, lowering it to ~ 1000$. I was thinking if I should go with the i7, but I don't think the price difference is worth the additional 100MHz, 1MB in cache and USB3 port (+ needs more power, generated more heat)

I ordered my X220 Tablet from Cost Central on 04/28/11. My order was supposed to be drop-shipped direct from Lenovo.

I contacted their customer service dept to get shipping status and here's the response I got:
"Hello, this order was originally shipping from Lenovo, however they shipped units to us before shipping yours out. I have switched the order to ship from our own stock. You would be getting the tracking number by email once it ships out."

I checked my order status this morning on their website and HOLY CRAP I had a Fedex tracking#! They shipped out my order yesterday from Georgia and I should be getting my X220T next Wednesday.

Anyone who ordered from C.C. should check with their customer service to see if they have your particular ordered unit in stock, and if so have them switch your order to ship from their in-stock inventory.

    I ordered Part# 429637U, X220t i7 with Ultrabase 3 for $1,693.74
    (Core i7 2620M / 2.7 GHz - vPro - RAM 4 GB - HDD 320 GB - DVD-Writer - HD Graphics 3000 - 3G Upgradable - Gigabit Ethernet - WLAN : 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 - TPM - fingerprint reader - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit - 12.5" Widescreen LED backlight Multi-Touch TFT 1366 x 768 ( WXGA ) - camera - TopSeller - with UltraBase Series 3)

You're not the first to mention a Memorial Day sale. Do they do one every year? Is it a good bet to wait or should I order it now to beat the rush? I mean, waiting 1.5 weeks to order and then presumably longer to ship since lots of people will be ordering = a much longer wait. Will the cost saving be that significant? Opinions?

Wow. So ordered a new x220 because my first one was defective. Ordered on May 16th, and checked the IBM site today and noticed it was shipped (May 20th) with tracking info. I was given an expected ship date of June 8th and I'm well aware that orders are almost always shipped before the expected date.

My first x220 took 15 business days before it shipped. However, I did order on launch day.

I think Lenovo uses any holiday as time for a sale. I figure I may save $50-$100 if I wait for the next decent coupon/discount. I'm not in a hurry so it doesn't matter to me. If I was I'd buy it at current prices without thinking twice.

You'll also notice there "double upgrade" sales ends 5/26. Just in time for a new promotion for Memorial Day weekend.

I'm new to lenovo (just ordered a sweet x220 for $900) and was wondering how often do they update this kind of model? Every Year? I'm one of those guys that likes to update machines once a year or every two years to keep up with the current technology.

That's pretty awesome. I cancelled the i5 one from last wks MasterCard deal yesterday, since nobody wanted it and I didn't wanna deal with restocking fees. I'm still waiting on my doorbuster though. "Status: In process." Not telling me much else.

Well it's a good bet than when Intel refreshes their mobile chips with Ivy Bridge, which are supposed to bring truly insane battery life and performance improvements, Lenovo will roll in a new model. That'll probably be around next April, methinks.
For my part, I hope that the x220 is more successful than the X-1, so that they continue to go in that direction.

Sure Ivy bridge is a bigger architecture change than Sandy Bridge but is it really going to lead to 'truly insane' improvements? It always seems like the pre-talk never lives up to the end result. At least that was the case with SB, which was really being hyped up a year or two ago big time and ended being a small improvement only.

Is SB really that small of an improvement? The battery life with the X220 is unprecedented. There's a good chance that yeah, Intel is overhyping this a bit, but then again, this new 3D gate process sounds like they're really gonna be cramming a lot more in there than in previous die shrinks

Should I have regrets of not getting an SSD? I went 7200 HD since it was a free upgrade...I think its not close to worth it for an additional $200-$300. Also, anyone know if the HD will make loud clicking noises like other computers or if the fans will be louder?

Looks like Lenovo shipped out a fair number of 4296-37U (multitouch) to a couple resellers, CC and Provantage each have >50 in stock right now.

Only problem for me is its almost $500 more than my current order and the only difference from 4296-2WU is an ultrabase+dvd I could care less about and 2620 instead of 2520. I already blew that much on a SSD for it.

I doubt it, but worth trying. All I know is Lenovo reps couldn't cancel 2 previous orders even though I requested to cancel the orders 3 days before they actually shipped. I'm sure this is done on purpose, maybe they think that after you get it, you might keep it. Then when I asked for the 6-cell battery on the doorbuster deal (which is actually cheaper), they also told me nothing can be done to the configuration, this was when I was placing the order with a rep by phone so I'll say in some ways they are pretty much useless.

If you gonna call, I'll suggest you call early in the morning 9am and you will get a rep in less than 3 mins. That's what I do and never waited more to get someone on the line. But that will have to be done on Monday now 'cause they don't work weekends.

My i7 doorbuster ordered 5/16 now has an estimated shipdate of 5/23. Solid.
Now, to see if there are any takers for an old S6F. Aww, I had some good times with that machine. CS201 (assembly) FTW! It's a shame the old assembler we're using needs old fashioned DOS emulation to work. Maybe it'll work in Windows XP Mode, but somehow I doubt it.

Tougher but I think it is possible. First you need to call a rep and make it worth their while to work with you. So you order the new order through them with whatever deal you can get. (go to your favorite deal website and configure the system and save the cart in Lenovo.com) and call the reps and have them find the saved cart. They will sell you the new system and help you get a RMA for the old system.

Dang are the i7s shipping faster or something? My estimated ship date is 6/11, ordered yesterday...that's 3 weeks :( i5-2410m, 9cell, webcam, win home pre downgrade. Are the 9 cell batteries still holding orders up?

Estimated ship dates aren't really accurate. My order shipped a week after I ordered it 2 weeks ago. i7 with a 9-cell. On the contrary, you can't expect your order to ship in a week. My friend ordered his a few days after me and still hasn't received a confirmation for shipping.
