I can speak only of my experience ordering an Edge e220s, but it's a Lenovo nonetheless. I placed my order on May 20, and received an estimated ship date of June 7, which over the following few days got pushed to the 8th, then 9th, then 10th, then 14th. It ended up shipping on May 30.
Save your sanity, and completely ignore the estimated shipping date that they post.

hi syntax error,
I also ordered my x220 yesterday night and have a shipping date of June 21st. R u located in usa?
Thanks. -
-
whats ur configuration and how much u paid?
-
I ordered May 19 and had a shipping date of June 7.
I got an email today saying parts problems will likely make that date unrealistic.

It may be of interest to know about the manufacturing dates of two of the parts inside my X220.
Hitatchi 7200rpm 320GB drive was made on 16th May 2011 in Thailand (drive pulled and an Intel X25-M popped in).
My 6 cell battery was made by Sanyo on 19th May 2011 (info in Power Manager).
They almost waited for me to order!! (ordered 23rd, shipped 26th). These babys are flying off the production line. -
@ Syntax Error - I think I already posted in here, but my X220 was ordered May 28th, estimated shipping date June 15th ... it shipped June 1st, and I received it on the 2nd. (I did pay the $25 extra for 2-3 day shipping).
-
Hopefully, they'll ship it out next week or so if I'm lucky. -
I ordered my X220 on May 22 and was originally quoted a shipping date of June 9. The computer was shipped from Shanghai on May 27 and travelled through Anchorage, AK and Louisville, KY before arriving at my door in northern CA on June 1. Shipping and delivery were fast! Machine initially seemed dead, but tech support advised odd procedure for complete discharge, which worked (more details in x220 Owner's forum)! Installed extra 4GB of RAM yesterday (now has 8GB) and Intel 310 MSATA SSD. Additional RAM boosted WEI memory performance from 5.9 to 7.4, but the BIOS doesn't see the Intel 310 at all -- will post more about that problem in

This might be a little out of place. But does anyone know a decent sleeve for the X220 with a 6 cell battery that can fit near perfectly? I want to shove it into a messenger with a little bit of laptop padding. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated! And on the topic of ordering, I ordered on 5/31 and I just received notice that it had shipped. It should be at my door before 10:30 6/7.
These units seem to just be moving off the production lines very quickly. My "expected ship date" was 7/5. -
Woot!
Recently:
This shipping at this point is from usa to me in Australia, so its speeding along. -
Can you explain how you purchased the laptop and had it forwarded to you in Australia? I'm in a similar situation. -
-
Here's the full information in shipping that might help you:
I ordered it through PriceUSA . They order it on your behalf basicly, and put on a small fee. There are places like Shipitto which are more manual (you need to arrange to get it shipped back to you) but I'm happy with their service so far.
The reason for ordering it overseas is a bit of an annoying one - I paid ordered a mostly specced up i7 x220 for $1120usd, was just after the doorbusters sale but before the memorial day ones.
The equivalent price in the Australian Lenovo store - $2,300aud ! It's more than double the price.. That's after their "sales" as well.. It would have been a touch over $3,000 otherwise too. -
Can somebody tell me how does writing on the X220 Tablet feel like? Is it like writing on real paper or is it more difficult and not so exact?
Thanks -
Lots of info on 'real world' use with the X220 tablet, the 'unboxing' video has some pen use footage at 22:00 min. -
Finally got my x220t (i5) from CC yesterday. Love this tablet!
-
My X220 has shown 6/7 as shipping date for a month but today nothing is up.
This after an email from them saying delays were happening.
Perry -
BTW, what is the cost for shipping to Australia? -
Cost of shipping was about ~$50.
In other news, It arrived in "Botany, HI AU"... Which I think is in New zealand. So probably about two days before I get it (I'm in regional Victoria) -

I ordered mine on Thursday 6/2 and got shipment confirmation this morning (Wed 6/8). That's much better than the estimated ship date! Now I have to wait until tomorrow to get my tracking number to find the estimated delivery date.
For reference, I got a non-tablet, i5-2420, 4gb single dimm, 320gb hdd, HD screen, camera, 9-cell battery, 6205 network. -
Wow alert!
My X220 was ordered 5/19 and scheduled to ship on 6/7. Got an email about a possible delay and today it is showing 7/29!!
That is 2.5 months from order to ship or about 3 months to delivery.
I suppose I can live with that as I am happily typing on my new W520 but that doesn't bode well for someone replacing an older computer.
I suspect the Intel SSD is the problem. With this delay I am expecting a 320 not an X25.
Yup. Checked the CTO site. Adding an Intel 160 GB SSD now shows verbage of : may delay shipment more than 4 weeks. -
-
Wow, that is a crazy delay. -
No, I got that super EPP less 12% deal through Mastercard a month ago.
And the 160 GB disk was only $300 and it is more than that to buy.

Mine did ship today!
Odd one day it goes to 7/29 ship date and the next it ships.
I am happy however.

Keep your spirits up, it may yet do so.

Finally broke down and ordered an X220 to replace my 4.5yo T60! I was bummed that I missed out on the Doorbuster deal last month, so I decided to jump on this one.
Specs: i7-2620, IPS, Win7 Pro 64, 4GB (1 DIMM), 320GB 7200rpm HD, 9-cell battery, webcam, Bluetooth, fingerprint reader, Intel 6205 wireless, 2YR Onsite + TPP.
Total price: $1,283 shipped, including CA sales tax. This was through Amex Daily Wish, which turned out to be almost $300 less than if I had ordered it through the Lenovo SPP site. Using my Amex also gives me a 1YR extended warranty.
Estimated ship: 6/24/2011 according to the order confirmation page, 6/27/2011 according to the Order Status page. =/
Still stoked! -

Just ordered a x220 with DOS to add to my Samsung Q35 (a great machine). It's amazing the price difference from the US to Europe... make me shiver. Now I'm looking for an portuguese keyboard to go with it.
cheers! -
It just arrived for me today! Overall shipping time from PriceUSA rep to regional Australia - ~9 days. Eager to unbox it latter tonight!
-
OMG!
Here's the story, ordered a X220t(42962WU) from Provantage, shipped to my brother in Minnesota with Fedex and estimated delivery date today.
When I look at the Fedex tracking it states: "Delivered" but also "Left at front door. Signature Service not requested."
What's this, they just leave a 1200 dollar laptop on somebody's front porch!?!?
Is this normal in the US? (I'm from The Netherlands, they would never leave anything without a signature here)
Obviously my brother is not home.. and I can't reach him by phone at the moment so I'm worried. A big box with 'Lenovo' all over it would be gone in 3 seconds over here... -

-
Having lived all over the place and shopped online a ton, usually the regular driver for a route has a pretty good grasp of where its ok to leave things and where its not, otherwise the complaints ramp up quick. -
But, the laptop is safe, my brother is playing with it as we speak.
-
Ordered June 7 with a projected shipping date of June 23.
Shipped today June 11.
i7-2620, IPS, Win7 Pro 64, 4GB (1 DIMM), 320GB 7200rpm HD, 9-cell battery, webcam, Bluetooth, Intel 6205 wireless, 1 Yr warranty
Total: 1,006.56 -
Even with the current doorbuster + student discount, I'm at $1086. I have same exact specs. -

We need a Sticky thread for Lenovo special deals and coupons!
Here one that end's tomorrow (6/12):
http://www.logicbuy.com/deals/lenovo-thinkpad-x201-laptop/18969.aspx -
Plus $86.56 in taxes. I ordered when the AMEX daily deal was on, but not the AMEX daily deal configuration. After I had registered for the daily deal, the next time I went to the Lenovo AMEX affinity site page, the option came up. -
Remind me where the customs inspection happens. Anchorage or Lexington?
-
Just curious what you guys think. Is the 3 year with thinkpad protection (accidental damage) worth it?
-
It really depends on what you value, which is hard for me to say since we just met. Personally, I did not opt for it. I tend to be pretty handy with this stuff. I can buy most parts for less than the cost of warranty. About the only part that would be trouble is the motherboard. If that does, I'll be in trouble, but I think it's a small risk.

I ordered the x220 on Jun 7th. i7-2620M, 4GB (1DIMM), IPS, Webcam, Win 7 Home Prem 64bit, Fingerprint Reader, 320GB 7200RPM HDD, 9-cell, Intel 6205 2x2 all for total $881.00 (I ordered on the AMEX daily wish deal, and no tax for me).
Expected ship date when I ordered was 23rd Jun, but received a mail yesterday (Jun 11th) that they've already shipped it! Hoorray!
Although I'm kinda nervous with all the on-going issues being reported/addressed on Lenovo forum (cpu throttling, fan noise, mSATA issues with the Core i7 version of the machine, ghosting on IPS screens, jumpy trackpad...sigh). I really hope it works out! -
I don't mind though. In terms of performance, the i7 and i5 difference is negligible. I also never cared for the 9 cell because of the asymetrical sticking out thing. How did you get out of tax though?
As for those issues. The throttling seems to occur with many current sandy bridge laptops. This is likely due to the CPU driver and not the laptop itself. I've had two of these machines and neither have issues with the IPS screen in terms of bleed or ghosting. The trackpad is very nice in my opinion. But I rarely use the click. I mainly tap once to click so the large trackpad is great for me.
EDIT: On the topic of fan noise. The new bios fixes the problem. My laptop has a slight high fan noise occasionally before the new bios update. However, it is nowhere near as bad as what other people are saying. My other X220 barely has fan noise also. It really is a tradeoff. A high powered small sized computer has to compromise between fan noise and heat. For example, the HP tablets have had fan noise and heat problems. Other similar sized computers (like Macbooks), though without fans, have had incredible heating problems for their fanless construction. Personally, the fan on both my machines is nearly always silent and the laptop is always cool.
