cant you get somone to mail it to you?
-
-
What did you ask for?
-
I was going to suggest a cousin lol. I definitely would not have paid any more for this. I am trying to find a sad now. It really sucks that Lenovo charges so much for the intel.
-
WELL SAID +1
-
come to canada
we get both.
i just told them i missed the sale and asked if he could do anything, apparently they had some problems on the back end in the last few days.
monopolies ftw? lol if only amd could step up their game ;(
btw how is the x220's mic? anybody have a sample? -
I seem to recall someone complaining because the IPS upgrade was $150 in Canada, but it's only $50 in the US. It's tempting, but seems like a lot of work.
-
lol no, it was $50. i would much rather have a 1600x900 TN display though
come to vancouver
-
I've actually been to Vancouver. Nice city. I always wanted to go to Port Hardy. It seemed like a nice out of the way place.
-
lol vancouver is actually pretty quiet
here's hoping my order arrives before the 5th
aww!!!!!!!!! lenovo changed the ship to the 7th... or 1 day after school starts -_- -
i5-2410M with standard frills: ips, wifi 2x2, bt 3.0, fingerprint reader, camera.
ordered 8/8
shipped 8/12
received 8/17 -
i5-2520m X220t, fingerprint, multitouch, BT, fingerprint, 3x3. $1112 before tax.
ordered 8/22
ship notice 8/26, UPS code doesn't work yet. -
great, my 12w case sleve just arrived... why cant they just ship them all together?!?!?
-
I'm thinking of buying the X220 but was wondering if anyone has had any recent luck on getting any discounts or deals for it in Canada.
-
ouch, you just missed the 20% off sale exactly a week ago
they had some trouble with the store crashing near checkout so you could try phoning in and saying the store crashed. -
I actually stumbled on the Lenovo EPP plan for Canada so I'll be getting it for more than 25% off.
However, mine will come with only 2GB of RAM since I'd rather buy my own memory for cheaper than what they offer. I also need to find a good displayport to hdmi adapter and maybe some way to get MS Office for cheap.

is that after tax?
consider upgrading your wifi, it makes a pretty big difference, same with the ram, 4gb 1 dimm should be good, buy another one later
looks good!
might want to consider hard drive but idk -
Yeah, that's after taxes already. Haven't ordered yet, going to call Lenovo themselves and see if they can do better. Been looking at the Dell Vostro v131, which is pretty good and cheaper, but the IPS screen on the x220 is too good to pass on for me. Hopefully can haggle a little bit.
Good call though on the wireless card, will upgrade that and downgrade Bluetooth, which I never use. I would upgrade ram to 4GB, but on EPP it's $68 for just 2GB more, whereas I can get 8GB for $55 plus tax from newegg.ca. I don't need superfast hard drive either and I can always add an SSD drive later on.
Thanks for the input though, much appreciated. -
did anybody else get their estimated ship date moved forward?
-
Just a heads up, if you opted for 5 day or the free shipping your X220 usually gets delayed at customs, if not you will get it fast. Atleast this is what i observed.
-
delayed at customs for how long? i want my lappie before school starts
-
Mine wasn't delayed at customs.

Be sure to pick up a sleeve off the Lenovo website. Nice quality.

To anyone who has ordered an X220 recently new sales have dropped the price significantly. I had a quote saved for the sale through August 31st. I waited until this morning to place my order to see if they would have any better sales for Labor Day and sure enough they do. My particular X220 configuration dropped $160.00 in price. Gotta love holidays!

and the Lenovo sleeve. Total with tax = $1,133.80 -
how important is to have extra warranty?
I got a i5 without any extra warranty -
I did order a sleeve but, I've read elsewhere on this forum that I'm likely to be disappointed.
In other news....my Thinkpad shipped today (9/2)!!!
-
I've had (takes off shoes) six thinkpads now....maybe seven.
I've always gone with the three year long advanced warranty with thinkpad protection....this is what we used to (I used to own a IBM business partner / certified consulting firm) lovingly call the "throw it down the stairs" warranty....which at one time, it really was, sorta.
Sometimes throwing down the extra moola was worth while and saved me from what might have been a disastrous amount of expense to repair a machine and sometimes, like the T42 that I'm typing on right now, they're simply bulletproof and likely to run flawlessly for, literally, ever.
When there was a promo that knocked $100-ish off the 3 year I jumped on it. -
uggh, shipping takes FOREVER!!!
-
Mine shows delivery on Tuesday before 10AM. [I'm hoping that the storm doesn't effect this in any way.] But, considering it shipped on 9/2 and is going to be in my grubby little hands on Tuesday, I'm going the opposite:
UGH! SHIPPING IS SUPER FAST!
-
GAH! I was watching some install videos, dreaming of my new lappy when I realized that I have the WRONG SSD!
Mine's a 2.5, not the super tiny M-SATA.
-
When did you place your order?
-
Placed an order for my X220 on Thursday. Just got a shipment notification ten minutes ago! Woot!

Sunday the 28th just before midnight Central time.
I got it on Tuesday (damn Holidays) of this week. I'm quite pleased with the machine and can't wait to crack into the Msata upgrade.
I'm not pleased with the fact that the 3M screen protector / privacy filter that I ordered from Amazon doesn't fit, nor am I pleased with the sleeve from Lenovo -
