I was going to suggest a cousin lol. I definitely would not have paid any more for this. I am trying to find a sad now. It really sucks that Lenovo charges so much for the intel.

I seem to recall someone complaining because the IPS upgrade was $150 in Canada, but it's only $50 in the US. It's tempting, but seems like a lot of work.

I've actually been to Vancouver. Nice city. I always wanted to go to Port Hardy. It seemed like a nice out of the way place.

I'm thinking of buying the X220 but was wondering if anyone has had any recent luck on getting any discounts or deals for it in Canada.

they had some trouble with the store crashing near checkout so you could try phoning in and saying the store crashed.

I actually stumbled on the Lenovo EPP plan for Canada so I'll be getting it for more than 25% off. :)

However, mine will come with only 2GB of RAM since I'd rather buy my own memory for cheaper than what they offer. I also need to find a good displayport to hdmi adapter and maybe some way to get MS Office for cheap.

    is that after tax?
consider upgrading your wifi, it makes a pretty big difference, same with the ram, 4gb 1 dimm should be good, buy another one later

    looks good!
might want to consider hard drive but idk

Yeah, that's after taxes already. Haven't ordered yet, going to call Lenovo themselves and see if they can do better. Been looking at the Dell Vostro v131, which is pretty good and cheaper, but the IPS screen on the x220 is too good to pass on for me. Hopefully can haggle a little bit.

Good call though on the wireless card, will upgrade that and downgrade Bluetooth, which I never use. I would upgrade ram to 4GB, but on EPP it's $68 for just 2GB more, whereas I can get 8GB for $55 plus tax from newegg.ca. I don't need superfast hard drive either and I can always add an SSD drive later on.

Thanks for the input though, much appreciated.

Just a heads up, if you opted for 5 day or the free shipping your X220 usually gets delayed at customs, if not you will get it fast. Atleast this is what i observed.

To anyone who has ordered an X220 recently new sales have dropped the price significantly. I had a quote saved for the sale through August 31st. I waited until this morning to place my order to see if they would have any better sales for Labor Day and sure enough they do. My particular X220 configuration dropped $160.00 in price. Gotta love holidays!

I've had (takes off shoes) six thinkpads now....maybe seven.

I've always gone with the three year long advanced warranty with thinkpad protection....this is what we used to (I used to own a IBM business partner / certified consulting firm) lovingly call the "throw it down the stairs" warranty....which at one time, it really was, sorta.

Sometimes throwing down the extra moola was worth while and saved me from what might have been a disastrous amount of expense to repair a machine and sometimes, like the T42 that I'm typing on right now, they're simply bulletproof and likely to run flawlessly for, literally, ever.

When there was a promo that knocked $100-ish off the 3 year I jumped on it.

Mine shows delivery on Tuesday before 10AM. [I'm hoping that the storm doesn't effect this in any way.] But, considering it shipped on 9/2 and is going to be in my grubby little hands on Tuesday, I'm going the opposite:

UGH! SHIPPING IS SUPER FAST! :D

Sunday the 28th just before midnight Central time.

I got it on Tuesday (damn Holidays) of this week. I'm quite pleased with the machine and can't wait to crack into the Msata upgrade.

I'm not pleased with the fact that the 3M screen protector / privacy filter that I ordered from Amazon doesn't fit, nor am I pleased with the sleeve from Lenovo
