$926 for i5-2520, W7 home, IPS, 250gb hdd, no fingerprint, webcam, 2gb ram, intel 6205, 9cell battery, 1year warranty is really nice price.
You can get 320gb 7200 rpm (7mm height) for about $50 at amazon. Ram 4GB usually costs around $40 per stick.
I'm still waiting for x220t i5 models to show up.

I give up.
saving my cart and will try it in the morning. -
Below are the specs I opted for. The price is not very bad; $1947 (including student discount. However, the damn thing still shows the configuration error!!

Err.. Why Spanish? I didn't choose it -
Also waiting for the i5 tablet version on Lenovo's site. So far, only the i3 is available. There also doesn't seem to be any choice between the multitouch and outdoor displays. Do we know for sure that these are the IPS screens?
Also, are the Gemplus 54mm ExpressCard Smart Card Reader and Ultrabase worth it? -
smartcard: No, unless you know what you are buying.
Smart card - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
ultrabase: No, unless you have money to burn, or you could get a crazy discount. -
The x220 Tablet is only available in i3 configuration.
Did I miss a bit of news?! -
I am getting a "error code 024" on checkout. Anyone else?
-
Nope. You did however miss their really weird (and probably still ongoing) staggered release of their products. I'm not sure why they don't update all of it at once but it seems they're posting one bit of info at a time. I guess we'll just have to wait till 8am for that to be finalized.
-
For those configuring x220, the slice battery seems to be a good deal at $153, and another 5% off making it $145. When I tried configuring x220t, it gave $195. Original MSRP is $229.99.
-
Anyone recommend alternate website for buying the Sierra MC8355 WWAN?
It costs 112$ from the Lenovo. Hope i can buy it cheaper somewhere.
-
Thanks. 4 -cell battery is same price as Lenovo at $124 incl shipping.
I guess they should go down in price a bit sooner or later? -
With which models has this occurred? ..As the x220 (non-tablet) is currently available in i3-7
-
Keep posting in this thread... But thinking about splurging on the i7 (will just fit my budget), largely to simply grab the USB 3.0. However, looking at the benchmarks I see that it's been clocked slower than the i5 2540m?

6-cell is flush, 9-cell sticks out. Not sure what the 4-cell would look like, or why you would want it if the 6-cell is already flush. -
the 6 cell raises the laptop a little bit
the 9 cell raises the laptop and sticks out
the 4 cell is flush in all respects -
But you can get an expresscard usb 3.0 for $20 approx. In any case, isn't current implementation of USB 3.0 on laptops still via a third-party chip rather than integral with intel? That was previously the case at least.
-
For all you guys who are ordering ASAP, standard 1 year warranty or are you guys getting extended coverage or on-site coverage?
-
No it doesn't really, since the more expensive 6205 Wireless card is using 2x2 antenna too.
Anything about that RapidDrive Technology? -
Wanna get Thinkpad Protection without the on-site service stuff. Will probably call later today and ask if that's offered. Anyone know?
-
Can't seem to place my order tonight!? Keeps saying order configuration is invalid
-
Really? I was about to order The 6205
That could save me 20$ -
Well, that's at least what my options tell me:
I can have a webcam and 2x2 antenna or a 3x3 antenna, but no webcam.
I'm going for the webcam and later i can decide if i want to have that "Advanced-N 6205 (2x2 AGN)" or "Wireless-N 1000".
As you can see its "2x2 AGN" and configurable with the webcam, so i think there have to be another difference.
I would pay some extra cash for better connectivity out-of-the-box.
Edit:
"Our apologies
The page you requested is not available"
Looks like you can't CTO the X220 in germany anymore. -
I have that very set up. It's good for me because I live in a rural area where on-site is probably not offered.
You can order the IPS screen on the X220i, which seemed like a good thing. That's what I'd get. -
just got the same thing, after entering everything and clicking on "Order"
-
Nice, it's on the US site -- any idea when these will be up on the Canadian site?
Edit: OK, that was quick. They're up there now -- disregard my question. -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Thank you vinuneuro! With your hard work and the group, I should get what I want for under $800!
-
For people getting the Error Code 024, are you going through the regular lenovo.com site, or through a discounted site, like friendsandfamily? I tried placing an order through the latter and received that error.
-
I was on the academic site. Tried checking out through Lenovo and through Amazon, no go on either.
-
yeah, im having the same problem as well.
Ordered through "Students & Alumni" for the X220
guess we gotta wait an hour till customer support
-
for us non-student/family discount users....are there any coupons/promo codes flying around??
-
The US prices for the X220 look fairly reasonable. In particular the $50 upgrade for the IPS display. Once it comes out in Canada I will definitely be grabbing one.
-
I'm seeing $150 for the IPS on the Canadian site. Also, there is only one extended warranty option -- 3 year premium onsite + 3 year TPP. I was hoping for 3 year basic + 3 year TPP to save some money.
-
Here in the UK it's around £33. Must say, it's a nice surprise for it to be more or less the dollar equivalent. We often end up paying far more than that.
-
When I go to Canadian site I still see the X220 as "Coming Soon"
-
I can't bring myself to pull the trigger on this thing.
it's nice, I just wish I could see one in person!
I have one set up with i5 and IPS w/ 9 cell and I am just having a breakdown! -
Earlier in another thread people mentioned model numbers that will have IPS screens; all of them had 4290 +, none of the 4286 would have the IPS screen.
but when I configure mine with IPS screen the model number is 4286. -
Vinuneuro was right. I would have saved about $270 by ordering from Lenovo direct for the same configuration. Shipping within 12 days.
Still, I don't regret my order. I would have been out of town 12 days from now for another 6 weeks. And for once I beat everyone to the punch!
-
Could be that CTOs can have the IPS and the 4286 is just a base.
-
Does the 9 cell battery stick out on the back like it does on the T420?
-
Has anyone found a config that allows you to select a Micro Hard Drive?
Every combo of screen/wifi/memory/cpu only allows the option "No Micro Solid State Drive" I'm just a tad concerned that I can't do this upgrade after the fact if its not even an upgrade option. (or maybe they don't have them in stock so it has nothing to do with compatibility?) -
Wow, that's interesting. I can go right in and start customizing both the X220i and the X220. Perhaps it's a DNS propagation issue..
-
I think Lenovo has said they'll offer them later.
-
Yes it does.
-
I noticed when pricing this laptop that on some portal sites there was an eCoupon offered on the right side of the cart, with an activate button (i think it was a 5% on top of the portal discount)
-
I was just talking to a Canadian Lenovo rep -- the laptop is definitely for sale so if you still can't see it for sale on the site you could call them up to configure an order.
-
JohnsonDelBrat Notebook Evangelist
Looks like that Invalid Config error is going to postpone orders. Rep said it will probably be up tomorrow. Doesn't appear to be a problem with the 220i.
-
Any update on the estimated ship dates for those who already ordered?
-
Just called Lenovo (attempting to order over the phone) and got the same response. They have a problem with their shopping cart and they don't expect to have it fixed before tomorrow.
Really Disappointed.
Sigh. Guess I get to wait another day.
